Olympic thread - or how to bankrupt a country

20 past 9 in the morning and the rowers are rowing sideways cause of the wind. Could be an interesting rowing regatta!

I can't wait for news stories on those people who trade Olympic pins

so interesting how they travel to this huge world sporting event and have swap meets for small badges

Matildas should never have played against the emerging Jets as it appears they have been infected by the Newcastle Jets curse. A lack of respect for a quality team in Canada and an own goal against the Germans meaning the Matildas have another 4 years to wait.
We will know if they have been effected by the Jets curse when they start focusing on how they dominated Germany and yet didn't win while ignoring the fact that the scoreboard is the only stat that counts.

Best 2 third placed teams go through dunster. They're still a chance. Could even come second if canada roll the germans.

Need to do our bit and smash Zimbabwe.

I didn't realise about the best two 3rd place teams going through. Either way though they will need a lot of luck.

Getting beat by the EJs wouldn't be their problem.

The reality that they ain't an elite team as they seem to think is the problem.

Reality laid the smackdown they deserve and their pre Olympic words and bravado about medals were just that

Maybe but they dug in and had a red hot go at Germany. I was impressed with their effort.

Gutless refereeing in the shootout. Every single shot the brazilian keeper was almost at the 6 yard line before the kick was taken.

    Hard luck ladies.
