world xi is fixed. How there can only be 3 Bayern players and no Dortmund players and still be Ramos, Alves, Xavi and Iniesta. I thought it was supposed to be the players that performed the best in the year

I've got a little Ballon d'Or story of my own related to her.
It starts with Retro in Germany last July. I watched all the German games of Sweden 2013 Women's Euro with my father-in-law on the box. During the course of the games the commentators mention that German goalkeeper Nadine Angerer is off to Brisbane Roar after the tournament to play in the Aussie W-League. A few games later, Germany wins the tournament. Next couple of days of course the local small town rag has a few photos in the national sport section; one in particular of Angerer - and Retro brags to the old boy "I'm going to get her signature on these papers". "Yeah...right mate. No chance." is pretty much the reply when translated.
6 months later: Women Jets lose 2-6 to Brisbane Roar at Wanderers on Sat, Jan 4th.
What was I doing? Retro is on Hols with the family, nursing sunburnt thighs from Diamond Beach the day before and rushing to pack up a tent site at Wallamba River after lunch, just so he can go see the Men's Jets lose that night to AfterBirth Glory. (Chris Harold...oo are ya?) Quite frankly, I forgot about the women's Jets v Roar game. Opportunity missed....or so I though.
Track forward to last Sunday's Asian Cup 1 year launch at Wheeler Place.
Retro attends, hangs back after everything is done and dusted to get photos with the Cup, along with a certain fellow KB United nutter (init: DB) who's apparently scanned every KB United home program. A couple of the Jets W-League players who attended are still there. Retro asks a player (I find out later from DB via email that it's Lauren Brown) about Brisbane Roar, Angerer and that the opportunity has been lost to get the signature. Brown states that she played with Roar last year and keeps in contact with former team mates and can organise the signatures. I arrange to meet her at training: Adamstown Oval on Tuesday arvo. Done.
Monday morning, Retro bundles off to Hamo PO to organise self addressed envelope etc and who's in the PO? DB! Funny co-incidence, seeing I'd never met the bloke before Sunday. So, stamped envelope for Lauren Brown to post off? Check. Self addressed envelope for Angerer to post back? Check. 2 newspaper pages from July 29th and 30th edition of the Ostsee Zeitung, 2013? Check. Nice letter asking for legendary goalkeeper to sign newspapers? (1/2 in English, 1/2 in German) Check.
Tuesday morning: Retro checks the latest fitbh news on the net to see that said goalkeeper is a Ballon d'Or winner and the first goalkeeper to win it! Retro then prints out 2 more photos: Angerer with sad sack Cristiano Ronaldo, ammends letter and sticks them all in the envelope to give to Lauren Brown Tue 5:30.
Well, the look on her face when she came up to me said it all. We both had a laugh at the synchronicity of it. All the squad new of Angerer's award from the night before. So, Brown takes my little parcel of hope and says she'll post it off to the appropriate person. TY Lauren Brown.
Now, with any luck and in a few weeks time, Retro should be in possession and the proud owner of the signature's of a current Ballon d'Or winner!
Another anti-England dick move by FIFA.
So any one know if Messi can win the Balloon D Or from inside gaol??
