Ok am not making any promises on how this will go, whether your questions will get answered, or if I can even get the player you ask for but I would like to involve the forum in the post home game interview process.
As a part of these interviews I want to be able to ask the players I can grab, some questions from the supporters they play for. So what I would like is simple questions for a specified player/s please.

format for example:

MICHAEL BRIDGES: Why do you think we will improve on our finish last season?

Random-type questions are ok, but stupid or offensive questions will be removed.

I will print the list of questions the day of the home game, and ask the questions at the end of recorded interviews that will be released via the Jetstream Podcast

as mentioned at the end of the recent podcast....

I am thinking of bringing the zine back from the dead this season under something like the following.

2 issues a season. 1 mid season issue - around December - 1 end of season issue - last home game

each would be bigger issues - tracking the seasons progress - photos and reports of each game, summaries of the issues facing the fans throughout the season.

twitter facebook forums "highlights" - maybe even interviews with players - transcripts of podcast interviews if furns can wrangle his way throughout the "mixed zone" during the season.

combined the two issues they would form some kind of season year book. with the addition of a pre-season edition next season summarising the off season preperations

would also print fewer copies - instead of 150 an issue - probs only print 50

cover price increase to $5

all funds to tifo as usual.

rationale: not that i need one

better return for time and effort - less effort on game day trying to sell 150 every game to make only a bit of $$$ less shit trying to organize production every week and less stress of getting shit sorted for 12 deadlines a season. Selling 50 at $5 twice a season will probably return about as much as all the effort struggling to sell 150, 6 or 7 times a season for a gold coin.

what I'd need

photos, match reports (peteC i would love your input) tifo production/display updates/reports, away travel reports, albion hotel reviews

thoughts???? don't want to start this if folk don't think they'd buy it.

volunteers to help with contributions???

PM me.

Please post all your whinges, impressions, feedback etc in here.
Even if its just a quick note to say you listened and enjoyed it, it helps to know people actually download it.
If you dont want to post in public you may also drop us an email at podcast@newcastlefootball.net

My suggestion is more people put their hands up to join in :)
Also still need music unless people are happy with the Nine Inch Nails track I chose.
Would like as many people as possible to subscribe and download so I can get an advertiser on board as well.

nowherelse seemed right to put this so used the zine thread for obvious reasons.....

in 2006 I ran a "street soccer" world cup at work (I'm a PE teacher in the "rugby League heartland of welfare class western Sydney")
It was run with students making teams of 3 to compete in fustal matches in a draw running parallel to the Germany draw.
Teams were given the choice of representing their chosen nation. bla bla bla bla

it took 2 weeks to gets 17 students teams (51 kids) to nominate - the rest of the 32 "nations" were made up of staff and the keen soccer kids playing for two or more nations - but it took 2 weeks to find the 51 students with posters, flyers, assembly announcement and a fair but of harrassing on my part, etc etc etc

four years later

2010
a few seniors who where in yr7 and 8 in 2006 came and asked us to run it again.
In TWO DAYS, solely relying on word of mouth we have 28 teams of 4 students (118 students) and 4 staff teams.

no promotion, no announcements, nothing to promote it at all. we have actually had to turn kids away

I live a sad life i know, but **** me this get sme pumped!!!!!

51 kids dragged kicking and screaming into a "soccer comp" 4 years ago. this time round, 118 entries in 2 days - we had to close the entries, and am being hounded to run two comps!

football is growing in western Sydney!

(it's also beneficial having staff who confiscate league balls being kicked on the quadrangle, but soccer a ball see the staff join in in impromptu games!)

the tide is turning.

please post other such positive stories. It makes me feel good.

Urgent call for podcast crew

GDay all,
due to unforeseen circumstances some of the regular podcast crew have been unable to make todays scheduled recording session. Due to wanting to get this thing done and out for people, I would like to see if anyone in the general forum would like to come on board for the season review podcast today.
You only have to have a computer with a half-decent internetz connection (you will just need to download and install Skype) and be available after 3pm for about 60-90 minutes.
If people can PM me by 2:30pm at the latest so I can see if we can go ahead or not that would be great.

VikingJet, if you read this in time, I would like you to join in and talk about Kasey and the Tippeligaen if possible.

A meeting of European supporter representatives from several countries and UEFA took place today in Nyon, Switzerland.

Various items were discussed such as:
• matchday arrangements at UEFA club and national team competition matches
• the Fan Hosting Seminar held in Barcelona in February (Football, Host Cities and RESPECT)
• the new UEFA policy of hosting the UEFA Champions League final on a Saturday and providing a special allocation of tickets to parents and children
• increasing further the dialogue between UEFA and supporter representatives.

The supporter groups were represented by the Football Supporters Europe (FSE) Committee elected at the most recent European Football Fans' Congress last July in Hamburg, together with Supporters Direct Europe.

Present from UEFA's side were the president Michel Platini, the first vice-president Şenes Erzik and general secretary Gianni Infantino, along with various members of the UEFA administration.

Following the meeting, UEFA president Michel Platini reiterated UEFA's approach towards the fans: *"The supporters are the lifeblood of professional football – they are the identity of the clubs. Owners, coaches and players change but supporters always remain.* At UEFA we try to incorporate the views of the fans into what we do."
