18 minutes in and it seemed that Broadmeadow striker Joel Woods was certain to score, but his free header was pushed wide of Ante Covic’s goal.

The Magic wouldn’t have to wait long before they capitalised on their fine play though, as Peter Haynes sent a delightful chip over Covic in the 20th minute. In a strike from all of 30 yards, Haynes left the Qantas Socceroo goalkeeper with no chance as he sent Broadmeadow to a 1-0 first
half lead.

The Jets interjected their fourth returning Olyroo at the beginning of the second half, as James Holland took to the midfield alongside, Kaz Patafta, Jin-Hyung Song, and Matt Thompson.

And it would be Song who would bring the Jets back onto level terms after 47 minutes from a deflected free-kick. Striker, Jason Naidovski, was brought
down just outside the area, and the Korean youth International made the most of the opportunity from 20 yards out. Song had a chance to put the
game beyond Broadmeadow’s reach on 75 minutes, after Elrich cut in a fine cross from the byline, but the Korean’s volley went straight to the Magic
goalkeeper.

Five minutes later and it would be Broadmeadow who would take their chance through youngster Ben Martin, who seized on a loose ball and calmly finished to give the Magic a hard fought victory.
