Coming to the end of his contract in Russia. 33 years old. Played a lot of CM in Russia over the years but is most well known for his RB position with the Socceroos.

What do we think about us going for him for next season?

A lot of my final decision on him hinges on what militiamon reckons about him - he has a great track record of picking which Socceroos would perform and which would flop in the HAL.

We need a coach first.

We need a coach.
Before that we need new owners.
If he comes back to Aus. It won't be for newcastle.

Forget coaching etc, this thread is solely for discussing the player.

My pre-militia opinion is that I reckon Wilkshire would be just as good, if not better, than Matt McKay at HAL level (I'm assuming Wilkshire would play CM in the HAL).

For the money you would have to spend to pay him don't think the value would really be there. Even if Militia reckons he would be a success for the marquee wages the bloke would command would you expect a HAL title on his back??

Then again mediocrity fits on well for us.So sign him up

You don't immediately look at our squad and go "Wow, RubeZ/Kanta/Beard/Caravella are absolutely shit, we could definitely upgrade them to Wilkshire level". Nor do you go "Neville is completely shit (yet TBD after injury) and his backup in Beard is also shit, we could do with Wilkshire at right back".

The positions he could play aren't the ones we need to look at making significant recruitment in.

Would not want.

He'd want and deserve marquee money.
I can't see home bringing marquee crowds though.

Would be the worlds greatest aleague signing if he's under the cap. (So expect him at Sydney)

Me three.

He'll end up at Heart to replace the hoff or WSW to replace pollens who isn't being re-signed

Stupid phone.

Post above is if he returns obviously

Hoff re-signed for Heart recently. He's going nowhere.

Militia - bring forth your judgement

I meant Wilkshere would be an upgrade on Hoff at Right back. But why would you pay the coin for Wilkshere and play him at right back I suppose.

Apologies for the delay pv4, I was only informed about this thread by Body at the bank today.

My esteemed verdict is - if he's marquee then a flop, if he's not marquee then I reckon he'd be a great signing.

Got any more while I'm here?

Kennedy, Holman

Good player but he'd want more than he'd give us for value. If we keep Beard I'd prefer him to Wilkshere

Considering the positions he plays, definitely not worth. I like our CM and Rb situation, any combination of Rhuben/Kanta/Carravela/Brillante is fine by me, and Brillante was a good at RB, as was Neville before the injury. If he was a natural left footer, I would say maybe depending on price since we need a LB more then anything.

Kennedy, Holman

Kennedy - reckon he would be very decent, wouldn't make him marquee though.

Holman - would be average (and I actually reckon he's done well for the Socceroos in recent years)

Bresciano, now there is a bloke who would truly tear it up. The most technically gifted player we've had for the last decade.
Since nothing ended up happening with Melbourne Heart I think we should definitely be going for him as our new marquee.

Bresc would be the best signing ever
