After I did that I realised I should have just copied yours Premy.

Looking at the mids, Cooper, Pepper and particularly Oxborrow have me realising we need some more midfield depth.

Agree regarding the midfield definitely need a old head in there maybe 2.

Really think he'll bring in another holding style mid to replace Rubez/Caravella, and probably push Kanta out of a spot, though.

I'm also sketchy on what will go down at LB. Goodwin needs an attitude change and to toughen up, Gallaway needs a good dropping.

Honestly if we signed a backup/starting Left back, and a starting holding Centre mid (Jobe pls), and another backup centre back (should have kept Mitchell IMO) I'd be pretty comfortable for this season.

All you who picked Gallaway have been smoking something since the season end?

Seeing as Brillante was great at right back, why not move Neville to left back and play Brillante on the right

I don't like Gallaway at LB because dude is Right footed, same reason why I wouldn't like Neville there.

Assuming we're not buying another striker and biri leaves:

-------------Birraz-------------
---Regan----Jaliens----Madaschi---
Brilliante--------------------Carney
-----------Kanta----------------- (Should he be sitting in line with the wingbacks?, Meh you get the idea)
Griffo--------Flores-----------Hoole
-----------Monty-----------------

If Goodwin is on form he replaces Hoole.

Neville or Gallaway can come on for a winger and switch to a back 4 if we need to defend a lead. Might need one more centreback on the books as cover tho.

I know there has been a bit of talk about us needing a 4th centre back behind Regz but I would prefer (along with most here, it would seem) that we get an actual 1st choice left back. That way Gallaway can be that relatively versatile defender - he isn't bad at the back, just pretty average going forward, so is a decent low wage squad player to have. Shouldn't be starting though :(

I would say its pretty unlikely and Stubbins certainly hasn't raise a LB as a possible. Your best hope is that Goodwin is being trained to play LB.

This looks like it will be the most likely formation unless we sign more players. Gallaway might get the nod over goodwin to begin with, but the everything else seems pretty settled. I wonder what will happen if Montana isn't an instant starter?

We have 20 signed currently and unless there Birraz or Brilliante is sold I can see us only signing 1 more player being a No 6. Wether that leaves us thin for depth is another story, particularly at Striker. The other thing to consider is that it is highly unlikely that Neville will be ready to perform as he did last season come Rd 1. I would suspect Brillante will hold that position for some time.

With the squad we have and what Stubbins has said about the last 2 potential signings not now being a striker, this would seem 433 or 4213 is nailed on. Players listed first in my formation are the starters.

That left side at the back is awful. A right footed left back whose only good attributes are his fitness and an average, converted right footed midfielder.

Given there aren't much in the way of decent Australian left backs available, surely using a foreign spot there makes more sense than anywhere else?

In theory Goodwin plays LB, Pepper is RB cover and Brillante competes with Kanta and No 6. That leaves us short for depth for Carney at left attacking forward position.

Noting what Stubbins has said recently I think he is going for a small squad with the budget he has. He could sign 2 or 3 squad players with the cap that is left and shore up LB, Striker, DM but looks more like to spend it all on a quality starting No 6. Its a gamble but similar to Postecoglue taking a risk on fullback depth. You get more influence on the game with a classy No 6 pulling the strings in midfield.

Totally agree, I'd rather us put in more for a quality player than 2 average squad fillers. Eg pepper/gallo/virgilli

Surely not not referring to that kid who's scored something like a goal a game for the youth side and we just let go?

Is that a hint, foti68?

In all honesty, I wonder if the club can see any potential in Mitch Cooper following his two knee injuries? And I wonder if Hoole has the potentail to fill in there, sort of like Sterling does for Liverpool?

Or what about that guy, Beard McShaven (nee Beard), who has played there in rep youth setups?

Could do too. I don't see us having the quality to replace him in his starting spot though.

Need someone with the ability to play that deep role but can also cover up further, someone like bresciano
