Joe Hart is coping shit for that second goal but what about the two muppets you just watched old mate-son pick up the ball, take 6 touches before he shoots from inside the 18... comical stuff! I am pretty much as happy this morning as i would be if the Socceroos had beaten them.

1. Joe Hart is average.
2. Conte is going to be a raging success in the EPL.
3. Italy doing well is ****ing fantastic.
4. The beIn sports chaps had their "we are outraged by this result" rants already typed up, it was just a matter of which game they used them.
5. Buffons look to Iniesta after saving that outrageous volley was everything great about football.
6. Boz needs to spend more time in the politics thread.
7. My sister in law works in PR for a global company and Coke flew her to France and gave her tickets for the quarter final v Iceland. It will be her first football game ever.
8. My sister in law is a bitch.
9. Harry Kane is a taller Kevin Phillips and that's the nicest thing I could say about him.

Yeah they did.
Leaving Europe will actually force them to stop filling their sides with foreigners.
Hopefully the FA use the Brexiit thing coupled with today's disaster to force some change on English clubs and mandate the foreigners in the EPL
50% of the foreigners in the EPL leaving would make little impact on the quality of the product but would increase the opportunity for young English players

Foreigners are not the problem. All countries have foreigners. Look at the system they bring "kids" up in, outdated, no improvement, clubs v clubs instead of collective agreement between clubs etc.

Their league is over run with foreigners
Their system is one issue and yes it has problems.
But the reality is the opportunity to play in the top flight just isn't there now for most of the kids.
Either the club brings in an established foreigner or signs some young up and comer who is also a foreigner further restricting opportunity for English kids.
Add in the whole results are imperative to stay in the EPL as the financial costs of being relegated are so much then you have another problem where the Managers refuse to play young locals

You still don't get it. These leagues are developing their players so they are better then a foreign option. German teams don't just put in a German player if there is a better option. Bayern Munich have plenty of young foreign players, why? because they are better then a local option.
Why aren't the English developing players better then these 'foreigners', that's what you should be asking. Not "oh these players from other countries are better, so lets get rid of them and bring in our not so good younger players because that will somehow make them really good".

Are you joking?? Juventus is the only team that has more than two Italians (locals) in the starting team. All others are lucky to have one or tow in their squad.
The so called acadamies in England are basically shit in developing players. Look at Barca they develop so many young players that most of them end up playing somewhere other than for Barca. Can we say that for any of the English acadamies.???

The Germans have spent well over a billion Euros on their yoof in the last decade alone.
Of course they are producing better players.
That being said the opportunity to play in the Top flight in Germany is there for the local kids as they develop.
Where is the opportunity for English kids??
They have spent over a billion Euros on wages on foreigners in the last decade.
Let's not even look at your elite players like your Hazards your Alexis Sanchez etc let's just look at your rank and file EPL foreigner like your Jedinak Skirtels Rojas etc
Just clogging up the pathway for young kids
This season we seen a young kid with some promise arrive. Be interesting to see what type of opportunities are given to him going forward
I talking about Marcus Rashford.
Now it wouldn't surprise me at all if his club went and signed another 2 foreign strikers on big money and blocked his career

But they seem to do well in tournaments though.
BTW Totti is not an attacker. He is a midfielder that has been asked/forced by Roma to play up front.
The serie A is slowly coming back. Not up to the standards of the 80s and 90s but getting there.
The Poms would find their biggest immediate improvement will come by finding a decent manager and a modern game plan that fits the strengths of their players.
Yes a rebuild in skills at junior levels and truth about egos would be the 2nd thing to drill into young dickheads.

Absolutely. Portugal should have been punished for their poor performances in the group stage by being eliminated. Instead, they are being rewarded.
During the group stage there was no-one using the 'haven't lost a game angle'. It was all Portugal being poor.
What if they lift the trophy after two more draws (90 mins)? That could possibly be the worst outcome for those that made the changes to the finals. A team that did not win a game in ordinary time, lifting the trophy. It's ridiculous to think it could happen.

One thing that must be said with the Welsh is that they don't seem to have any egos and play for the shirt and their fans and one another.
Gareth Bale may look like a twat with that hair cut and he playing with footballers with a tenth of the ability he usually does and is earning a shitload more each week than the Welsh Back 4 and keeper do together but he is one of the boys and no big time charlie
Now contrast that with the England team where the first job for the next England Manager is to actually go and put the egos of the squad in their place

The Germans despite being well below their best were actually trying to play
The Italians parked the bus from Kick Off playing for pens
Germany got the goal and started to control the game.
Then a meltdown from Boateng from out of nowhere and the Italians were back in the game
The Germans pushed the pace searching for a winner in Extra Time and the Italians played for pens
Some abysmal pens in the first 5 from each side and then they got much better in sudden death
The last one for each side though were particularly poor
Triumph for attacking play as opposed to defensive play
I thought both coaches were poor.
Lowe made 2 subs for injury only and wouldn't change it up
Conte done nothing after Germany got in front as the clock ticked away he got lucky
Even in ET there was 1 last minute sub before the pens
Where was the ambition to try and steal it???

It seems like there has been so much of this to me. I have still enjoyed the football (who doesn't love international football) but even some of the group games teams seemed to be holding back and I think it started because of the 3rd place teams qualifying. A draw in group stage was a good result. Teams really knew they only had to win 1 game to get through.
That has carried through to knock out stages, obviously Croatia v Portugal was probably the worst game for it but this one was close to on par.

Hard to say it FIFA after all
Last time when Spain were World and Euro champs they invited Italy as Euro Runner Up
Would expect them to invite one of the Bigger Elite nations like Italy Argentina Spain Brazil etc rather than the Portuguese or Welsh
Anyway what's to say France won't win
They have the artillery to beat Germany and are going to be cheered on by a home town crowd so going to be tough for Germany to beat.
I doubt France will roll over like Brazil did last time Germany played the hosts

You would think the Germans occupation of France in the 40s would be more than enough to see them aim up
I watched both these sides play in the Maracana 2 years ago.
The French offered very little resistance that day.
2 years development and a home ground will make up for it later this week

Why? why would they have such a rule if they didn't think it would be appropriate for one of these teams to win it? I'm not saying I agree with the rule but clearly they would know if could have been a possibility and were still happy to go ahead with it.

They would have beat Hungary and finish top 2 if best third didn't qualify. They went down 3 times in that game and manage to come back each time. A draw was sufficient for them to go through on that day. Iceland did them a favour with that last minute goal to put Portugal in the easier half of the draw.

It's a tournament - you do what you need to do to progress. Highly likely that the possibility of finishing third being enough adjusted some strategic plans.
If you win a tournament by drawing your group games and win on penalties in all of the other games, you win the trophy - so be it. Italy won a World Cup in 1982 without winning a group game.
Nice to win all your three group games 3-0 - if you lose your round of 16 it means sweet FA.
Portugal have benefited from the restructure of the tournament.
Generally speaking, if you have the poor performances they had in the group stage, then you will be knocked out.
Personally I don't like it. Every team has to qualify for the finals, so having 16 there should not be an issue.
Although with the 24 team finals, we have seen some of the smaller teams do rather well, we have not seen poor group stage performances punished.
In saying that, I think they have to stick with it now or increase it again to 32. It's a reasonable and feasible option when you consider some of the countries that missed out in qualifying this time around.

No it doesn't
It is two seperate comps.
A league stage where your goal is to get out if the group. Doesn't matter if you finish first or 3rd it is only important that you get out
Portugal done that
Second it is a Knock out comp
The only goal is to survive and make it to the final and then jag it by hook or by crook and take the trophy
CR7 and his mates are poised to succeed
You have obviously never watched Italy at a major tourney and win. They play like busted arses but survive and win out.

12 teams in League A,
12 teams in League B,
14 teams in League C, and

In the top division League A, teams will compete to become the UEFA Nations League champions. Teams will also compete for promotion and relegation to a higher or lower division. The UEFA Nations League will also be linked with UEFA Euro qualifying, providing teams another chance to qualify for the UEFA Euro finals tournament.
or is that just too stupid a concept even for Platini?

Actually how shit were the French??
I will start by pinpointing the main problem.
That useless sack of shit up front.
With the Portuguese playing on the counter from minute 1 you don't give the back 6 a moment's piece. But even after CR7 was rubbed out by an unpunished foul and Portugals plan reverted to nicking it or pens you don't give them a break when they have the ball.
But no this useless sack of shit stood off all day and kept the tempo in the game low.
Glad he finished in second place like he regularly does with his club side.
The manager Deschamps ****ed it up big time with his selections and tactics. He should have used his squad depth more in this game and freshened the side up
His subs were bizarre and his tactics to break the Portuguese down were non existent
As for the Portuguese haters CR7 has won a title with his NT. Something that Messi can't do. He even has the luxury of World class players like Higuain DiMaria Aguero etc to assist him
It also pleasing to see a side counter in the last 10 mins and go for the throat. Maybe a few of the Dutch inspired mango suckers in this country will learn a thing or two about football on this game.
The champion team won by playing a tactical masterclass

Two good things came out of this game - Payet rubbing out CR7 and playing like a busted arse means Real won't come calling and he will stay at West Ham.
Second - it was a big plus for Portugal to win without said superstar. They get immense confidence in themselves and Ronnie might get a decent dose of humility.
