Heard on twitter that Alex Wilkinson is heading off to Korea to play.

Does this fly in the face of the gypo's saying no more fire sales ?

http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/244116,mariners-no-more-fire-sales.aspx

Taking a fair and balanced approach, i would have to say, yes.

They are signing Sterjovski are they. That's good. The more average players the better for them!! Bloke has been a failure at HAL Level for the wages he was on.
More importantly anyone who has been keeping up to date with the ins and outs in Gypoland is Brad Porter still on their books??

The reason i ask is that he is worth at least a goal to us in every F3Derby game he plays so we all have a vested interest in seeing him staying at Bluetounge

BAd news apparently brad porter has had to retire prematurely at the age of 26 due to the knee injury he sustained a few years ago. looks like we will have to find another source of goals in the F3 Derby

Oh good god. Even the scum fans were embarrassed by his antics with Bridges in the last derby, FFS.

But seriously, I reckon either Zwannswjik or Bojic should get it, they're much more leadership material and less likely to bend over if someone touches them.

Yesterday at work the Member had to head to Raymond Terrace to train a new female staff member. After getting there to meet the person I found out the news that they were a Gypo from some obscure Gypo suburb.

Being reasonably professional at work I may have mentioned something about there being a hole in the fence or something subtle that was anti Gypo related and that even went straight over her head and I then avoided sharing any of my anti Gypo sentiments with her for the rest of the day.

During the day the she told me that her parents were picking her up after work which I felt was a bit odd due to the distance involved between the Terrace and Gypoland and how it is a bit odd that a grown adult at her age has mum and dad driving her to and from work when she could drive herself.

The Gypo then informed me that her mum and dad didn't work. (NOTHING SURPRISING THERE)

The Gypo then went on to tell me mum and dad had nothing better to do all day so decided to come up with her and sit in the pub at the Terrace all day (Monday) and get on the turps and have the daughter be the designated driver to get them home.

JUST days before his side faces off against the Western Sydney Wanderers, Central Coast Mariners coach Graham Arnold claims the expansion club has received an unfair advantage in being allowed to sign seven visa players.

The news that the Wanderers have been granted special dispensation to sign two extra foreigners by Football Federation Australia, which also owns the club, has created plenty of consternation, despite the Joint A-League Strategic Committee (consisting of three independent club owners) accepting the change.

Though they are yet to kick a ball, concern is growing the Wanderers will struggle to be competitive in their first season, a primary reason why the committee allowed the exemptions and why there has not been a major backlash until now.

However, having built the Mariners' squad almost entirely off his own bat during the past two years, Arnold wants to see other clubs put in the similar hard yards rather than being given explicit advantages.

"I feel probably like all the other clubs - pretty hard done by," he told the Herald. "If you look at Melbourne Heart, when they came into the league they didn't get any help, they only had five visa spots and all the other clubs have only got five.

"You'd like it to be a fair playing field but it's not right now. I understand the reason is because they are a late inclusion and they only had 186 days or so to prepare, but I was a bit surprised when I heard about it."

It is not a formal policy of the Mariners, but Arnold has made it his unofficial mission to develop as many Australian players as possible and to prioritise signing local players instead of overseas talent.

He has so far been good to his word with the Mariners having only three visa players on their books, vice-captain Patrick Zwaanswijk, Michael McGlinchey and new midfielder Nick Montgomery.

"That's my motivation. My motivation to show that we don't need it [visa players]," he said.

"I'm not envious of not having a marquee because our structure is built around the team. It's not built around any one individual and if any other coach - say Crooky [Sydney coach Ian Crook] is building his whole team structure around [Alessandro] del Piero, what happens to the whole team if he gets injured or suspended?

"A marquee is fantastic, don't get me wrong - bringing Shinji [Ono] and Emile [Heskey] and those kind of guys is unbelievable - but sometimes you have to wonder when you look at the other players about what they're thinking. They're getting paid $40,000 and another player is getting $2 million or $1.2 million per year. It can cause unrest if things don't go well."

Under his tutelage at Bluetongue Stadium, Arnold has transformed several youngsters into high-class performers, including Mustafa Amini, Tom Rogic, Bernie Ibini, Rostyn Griffiths, Matt Ryan and Oliver Bozanic, and he is promising another batch this season.

"I'll give you another couple more this year: Trent Sainsbury, Zac Anderson and Mitchell Duke," Arnold said.

"Sainsbury has shown exceptional maturity and performance since he's come in for Wilko [departed former skipper Alex Wilkinson].

''Zac has come down from Gold Coast and is somebody who I believe will become one of the best stoppers in the league and the privilege of those boys to play next to Patrick, in probably Patrick's last season, will not only make them better players this year but in the future."

He also hailed teenage midfielder Anthony Caceres a "wonderful talent", but said he still needed "a little bit of time to develop".

Cry me a river cocksmoker!!

WSW were handicapped from day 1 when all the Aussie talent was already hoovered up before they had a chance to sign anyone this season. All they got were cast offs and rookies looking for a go. Getting 7 Visa spots is at least an option to keep them competitive on some level this season before they have the chance to build their club with quality players.

Gypos already getting the excuses in before the season starts.

The FFA should make a massive deal about making them remove them...
Only the FFA should decide who gets what and where they wear it.

If this was not approved by the FFA then they should be made to remove them.
If it was then the ffa should allow all other premiers to wera a champions star and point out how stupid it is.

Three men have been charged after a shot was fired at Woy Woy McDonald's.

Police were called to the Charlton St fast food restaurant about 1.30am yesterday (Tuesday) after a fight allegedly broke out between two groups of men.

During the incident a firearm was allegedly produced and a single round discharged, however no one was injured.

Three men aged 21, 22 and 28 were arrested and two firearms were seized for examination.

A 21-year-old man from Pelaw Main appeared in Gosford Local Court yesterday (Tuesday) charged with intent to commit indictable offence and affray and was granted conditional bail.

A 28-year-old man from Kurri Kurri appeared in Gosford Local Court charged with being armed with intent to commit indictable offence and menacing driving and was refused bail,.

A 21-year-old Umina Beach man also appeared in Gosford Local Court charged with intent to commit indictable offence, possess unregistered firearm, fire firearm in public place and affray and was also refused bail.

All three men will appear in Woy Woy Local Court on October 23.

Being on the Gypo Coast not that surprising but I believe that there is some sort of sewerage place not far away.

It WAS an unbearable high that lasted several days and ended in a naked, bloodied death.

A Central Coast truck driver, Glenn Punch, 44, and his girlfriend, Rachael Hickel, 42, injected a drug while in the cabin of his truck one afternoon two weeks ago. They thought it would just be some fun.

But two days later, after further doses, they were in a deep psychosis. Suffering unbearable heat, both had shed their clothes. A naked Mr Punch had jumped a barbed wire fence in an industrial area near Newcastle and attacked a security guard before going into cardiac arrest.

He died in Prince of Wales Hospital two days later.

Ms Hickel, who was found with no top on hundreds of metres away, highly agitated and bloodied after falling from the truck, survived the intense high to bury her long-term partner on Friday near their Berkeley Vale home.

But this was not a normal drug overdose. The pair had done nothing illegal.

The culprit was so-called ''bath salts'', a legal synthetic drug that mimics the effects of cocaine and has quietly reached Australia after sparking widespread concern overseas.

The pair had bought a bag of nondescript white powder called ''Smokin' Slurrie'' from the Nauti & Nice adult shop in Rutherford. It was labelled ''not for consumption'' but marketed online and in forums as a legal high.

Mr Punch's death was the first bath salts fatality in Australia but the commander of the state's drug squad, Detective Superintendent Nick Bingham, has since revealed that the mysterious product is ''flying off the shelves'' in adult shops, tobacconists and online, prompting a parliamentary inquiry into the rapidly emerging synthetic drug market.

Manufacturers tweak the composition of the substances so they circumvent illegal drug classifications yet can still trigger many of the same effects of amphetamines. In NSW, the powder has become astonishingly easy to buy and users boast of their exploits online.

''I was up all night and the next day and I had only gone through about .5 grams. Teeth grinding and hard to sleep the next day,'' wrote one forum user.

A new psychoactive drug enters the European market every week, far outpacing efforts to legislate against them, yet no figures on consumption exist in Australia because the substance is so new.

A Brisbane lawyer representing several sellers, Patrick Quinn, said the products were becoming ''huge'', particularly among miners because they were not detected in urine tests.

''There's a lot of money to be made and my clients make no secret about what they do,'' Mr Quinn said. ''The profit margins are incredible and they are intent on selling a legal product.''

Nauti & Nice refused to comment and the distributor of Smokin' Slurrie, who gave his name as Brett, hung up on Fairfax. A woman earlier said he couldn't talk because he was dropping his children at school.

The director of the National Drug Research Institute, Professor Steve Allsop, said authorities needed to take seriously what was happening around the world.

''I think we need to be concerned,'' he said. ''We're not clear on prevalence in Australia because all people have to do is click a couple of buttons and the substance comes through Australia Post, so that makes it hard to detect. It's a new challenge.''

Several synthetic cannabis blends were banned in NSW last year but manufacturers can simply tweak recipes, causing further confusion.

Eight ''families'' of synthetics were scheduled by the Commonwealth but enforcement has to be implemented in state legislation, something a state parliamentary inquiry is exploring. The committee finished hearings two weeks ago and will draft recommendations over Christmas.

Detective Superintendent Bingham has suggested copying New Zealand, where legislation has placed the onus of proof about safety on the manufacturers. He said Australian sellers were willing to foot the bill for testing, which topped $1 million in New Zealand.

NSW's Young Lawyers group has cautioned the committee against knee-jerk, blanket legislation without proper research.

Yet, poignantly, on the same day Detective Superintendent Bingham gave evidence to the inquiry on the urgent need for action, Mr Punch was rapidly losing his battle in a hospital a few kilometres away.

-LEAGUE fans will be given an access-all-areas pass into the life of the Central Coast Mariners in a six-part documentary that goes behind the scenes of the club.

The Mariners will announce on Friday that the landmark documentary, entitled The Code: Life with the Mariners, is expected to air on Fox Sports after April.

The series is being created by Onion TV and will have a similar angle to its documentaries on Super Rugby's Waratahs and ANZ Championship netball team Adelaide Thunderbirds, where viewers were given an insight into the daily life of professional athletes.

Camera crews have been following the club since the start of the A-League season in October, and have captured intimate moments, such as scenes from within the dressing rooms and daily training at the Mariners' centre of excellence.

"This documentary series will be another feather in the cap of the Mariners," club chairman Peter Turnbull said. "We will be the flag bearer for the Hyundai A-League in terms of this type of venture, and will be able to present the competition in the positive way that it deserves."

The players' characters away from the field will also be revealed as several Mariners allow the cameras into their homes and personal lives. Former Sheffield United midfielder Nick Montgomery will become the first player to reveal his life outside of football to the cameras; the focus will be on his experience in Australia. The series will also feature local player Oliver Bozanic and Socceroos duo Tom Rogic and Mat Ryan as well as a host of other players and personalities associated with the club.

Fairfax Media understands that coach Graham Arnold was initially hesitant to allow TV crews to be embedded within the Mariners' ranks but warmed to the idea as the project progressed. When filming began, crews mainly shot from a distance as the players and coaches became more accustomed to their presence. However, last weekend's F3 derby against Newcastle Jets was the first time the crews entered the dressing rooms.

Crews will follow the Mariners closely throughout the remainder of the A-League season as well as travel with the team in the Asian Champions League.

"The Mariners have been very, very open. They have a great understanding of the need for a product like this," Onion TV producer Nick Piper said. "Sure, it takes time to gain the trust of the coaching department and also the players, but I think the culture of the Central Coast Mariners is a fair indication of how they've embraced us. Everyone has been very relaxed and very kind and giving."

The series is funded largely by Central Coast Tourism, which hopes the six-part documentary will promote the region as much as the club.

"The production of this TV series is an opportunity not only for fans to go behind the scenes of the club, but it will highlight the lifestyle and culture of the players nationally, and the area where they choose to live," Central Coast Tourism chief executive Robyne Abernethy said.

Yeh that did cross my mind that challenge of Talay on Heffernan that broke his leg. It was a shocker and i'm not sure he even got penalised, but took Heff out of the game for months.

Memories are short.

ARNIE = LEGEND !

and these

It was the slide from Grant that made the whole situation dangerous play. Timed as it was, his leg is under the running player's foot as it comes down, a split second later and the slide is into Rogic's ankle (as many were that night). Now I'm not that much of a fan of the big Galoof, he has some skills but is lazy and his distribution is not that good and CCM will not lose anything by having McGlinchy at AM (ecept if they play that waste of a position - Sterjovski), but he doesn't deserve the vitriol that is being spewed forth for a situation that was caused by Grant sliding in in a dangerous manner.

And yet if you watch the other angle you see the exact opposite. Rogic gets to the ball first, Grant collects Rogic's ankle and as Rogic falls it twists Grants knee back. This is the bit that hurt him on the night. You see him clutching his knee - not his shin.

The different angles show completely different stories - but the clutching off the knee rather than the shin by Grant supports that Grant was the one with the mistimed tackle. The fact that Harper repetitively showed the one angle did not stop those who taped the game to see both angles. TBH - both were reckless and I would have given both yellows. The only straight red that should have been given was Emerton aon McBreen - but not even a yellow

CENTRAL Coast Mariners are pleased to announce that two Asian football investment groups will soon visit Gosford to open talks about investment opportunities in the Club and its Centre of Excellence at Tuggerah.

The two groups are among several interested parties who have received and reviewed an extensive Information Memorandum on the Central Coast Mariners.

The Mariners Board of Directors formally invite further expressions of interest by investors locally, nationally and globally as the Club strives to accelerate its growth plans and capitalise on additional business opportunities available to it.

Central Coast Mariners Chairman Peter Turnbull said it’s the right time for the Club to further broaden its capital base, having completed the start-up and formative phase, and achieved an enviable position in Australia’s national competition, the Hyundai A League.

“This is exciting juncture in the club’s short, yet proud history,” said Mr Turnbull.

“We are currently top of the Hyundai A-League and National Youth League and we are the reigning premiers in each competition. The Mariners will this year compete in the Asian Champions League for the third time and is on track to do so again in 2014.

“The on-field success is underpinned by the Club’s unique, innovative Centre of Excellence complex, which is well underway. The Tuggerah facility is now home to the Mariners’ entire football department and has a thriving community facility in the Soccer5s complex, which is open and doing an excellent trade.”

Next year, the Central Coast Mariners Centre of Excellence will see further developments towards a 130-room hotel, licensed clubhouse, six storey office tower and an aquatic centre, in addition to the training facilities, football administration block, and leisure amenities launched last year.

Mr Turnbull said the Mariners brand was known internationally, having its players sought after by top clubs in Europe and Asia.

“This year also marks the second full year of the Club’s elite Academy pathway, providing gifted local juniors with the opportunity to progress from their grassroots side to the Hyundai A-League and beyond,” he said.

“In order to consolidate the Club’s position as Australia’s top nursery for football talent and build upon the impressive achievements made by the franchise since its foundation in 2004, Central Coast Mariners FC are currently assessing a range of additional investment options to underpin its strategic growth plan moving forward.”

Over the past few months, the Mariners have been contacted by a number of groups expressing an interest in investing in the future development and expansion of the organisation. These expressions of interest include the possibility of direct investment from local and foreign consortiums and individuals, as well as the option of an initial public offering (IPO) which would see the Mariners as the first publicly owned football club in Australia.

Russians/ Asians all interchangeable.

Hopefully this IPO goes ahead. Will buy shares just to cause trouble. Imagine if enough of us bought shares in their peasant business we could have a right laugh dictating Gypo Club policy. No more tuna for Hutcho

PV4- I think you still own a record player and the record is broken.Newcastle is such a superior team than the Mariners just look at all the silverware you have won and where you have finished every year in the A league, but you are still to win the main prize.

Biggest win by an Australian team in the ACL: Mariners, 5-0

Biggest loss by an Australian team in the ACL: Jets, 0-6
;)

cumulative points > results in a one-off match

I reckon a few teams would have scored more cumulative points in the ACL if they had the luxury of playing a bunch of teams resting half their regular line-up the way Newcastle did...

interesting thought. i reckon a few teams could lay claim to more premierships in the hal if they were given the same salary-cap-dodging-leniancy that ccm were given in 07/08.

i guess both alleged scenarios are out of the club-in-questions control, they just have to make the best out of the situation handed to themselves.

Central Coast Mariners hit financial strife again, says report

FINALS-bound Central Coast Mariners have again hit financial turbulence with the A-League club reportedly unable to pay its players last week.

According to a report in The Australian, Mariners players and staff did not receive regular payments last Thursday and learned of the problem only after arriving back in Sydney last Friday after the 1-3 loss to Kashiwa Reysol in the Asian Champions league.

IN the final weeks of the 2010 federal election campaign, Julia Gillard announced a $10 million grant to go towards a $40m sporting and community complex on the NSW central coast, which was slated to be among the nation's best.

Today that project is in danger of collapse, with builders walking away from the development late last year over hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid debts, and very few of the community benefits spruiked by the government have actually materialised.

The Central Coast Mariners A-league soccer club's planned "Centre of Excellence" at Tuggerah was due to be completed early this year.

Instead the development sits idle with patches of over-grown glass spurting up between half-complete buildings, and stands as nothing more than a monument to government waste. With the Mariners club facing possible collapse - with players threatening to strike over unpaid wages and the Australian Taxation Office circling over unpaid debts - it has emerged the funding was tied not to the community benefits but a handful of facilities for the elite club.

Both the club and the developer of the project - which are separate legal entities - were last night locked in ongoing negotiations with investor and IT businessman Mike Charlesworth in a bid to save the club and the developer from administration.

Less than three weeks before the 2010 election, Ms Gillard and local member Craig Thomson - whose heavy lobbying for the grant brought it about - visited the site and announced the grand project billed as "world class".

The development, they announced, would include a heated indoor aquatic centre, community gym, function centre, education facilities, a 150-room hotel, a museum, and community doctor and dental services.

The federal government was to inject $10m in the $39m project, which was to be completed by Mariners FC Developments, a company created for the purpose owned by three businessmen associated with the Mariners Football Club.

The complex would provide "state-of-the-art" facilities for the Central Coast Mariners, and the raft of community services.

It was, in the words of an August 2010 ALP campaign media release, an "Elite Meets Community Sports Campus".

However, more than $9m of that government grant has been handed over and the community side to the project is yet to materialise.

Peter Turnbull, a director of Mariners FC Developments, said football fields, a "soccer 5s centre" along with changerooms and gym, dressing rooms, coaches' offices and football match facilities had been completed. But he said none of the federal grant was tied to the community gym or medical services.

Department of Regional Australia, Arts and Sport spokesman Anthony Meere declined to comment when asked whether the government had any concerns regarding the future of the proposed development.

"The Australian government has delivered in its commitment to the Mariners sports complex. To date milestone payments totalling $9,006,590 have been paid," he said.

A spokesman for Mr Thomson did not return calls yesterday.

Builder North Constructions walked off the site in December after the developers failed to pay about $500,000 in debts.

The Weekend Australian can also reveal the Mariners FC Developments has missed a deadline earlier this month to pay $3m to the Wyong RSL Club to finalise the purchase of a parcel of land on which part of the project is to be developed.

Facing financial distress, the Wyong RSL in 2008 sold Club Tuggerah, a club and 14ha of land adjacent to the existing Mariners' grounds.

The sale price was $7.5m with $4.5m payable at the time and the remaining $3m due earlier this month.

Company searches show Mariners FC Developments owes $6.25m to Adelaide-based Angas Securities, a shadow-bank debenture issuer that raises money from ordinary investors.

Records show all of the assets of Mariners FC Developments are mortgaged to Angas.

The accounts of Angas show a late 2012 valuation of the entire site and buildings at just $12m.

The directors and equal shareholders of Mariners FC Developments are Mr Turnbull, Mr Charlesworth and Lyall Gorman, a former director of the Mariner's Football Club.

Speaking with The Weekend Australian yesterday, Mr Charlesworth dismissed media reports he had agreed to inject $5m into the failing club.

He said he was involved in ongoing negotiations with both the club and the developer.

"No figure is being stipulated and no deal has been concluded," Mr Charlesworth said. He confirmed the developer currently owed North Constructions "about $500,000".

The precise figure the Mariners Football Club owes the ATO was unclear.

Graham Arnold admitted he is “as concerned as everybody else” by the standard of A-League refereeing and is praying another howler doesn’t decide Sunday’s semi-final against Melbourne Victory.

The Central Coast Mariners coach wants the microscope to be on the performance of players not match officials as the Mariners seek to make home advantage pay against Ange Postecoglou’s side at Bluetongue Stadium.

All eyes will be on man in the middle Strebre Delovski after the admission by A-League chief Damien de Bohun that whistle-blowers Jarred Gillett and Chris Beath had both been dropped after clangers in the two elimination finals.

Gillett came under fire for missing the handball from Andrew Nabbout in the incident which led to a last-minute penalty for Melbourne Victory and a red card for Steve Pantelidis – all but sealing Perth Glory’s fate at Etihad Stadium.

Beath, meanwhile, failed to punish reckless challenges by Brisbane’s Stef Nijland and Adelaide United striker Tomi Juric in Roar’s win over the Reds.

Arnold, who will have all his big guns back for the Victory clash after resting a raft of senior players for the luckless 2-1 AFC Champions League loss to Guizhou Renhe on Tuesday, said: “People have been talking a lot about the referees this year and they have been making some big calls, which have been hurting teams.

“I am as concerned as everybody else is about that. You really don’t want to be talking about the match officials but we have seen a lot of decisions this year that have provoked that debate.

“Perth Glory had reason to cry foul against Melbourne Victory. After the game you had ex-referee Matthew Breeze dissecting bad decisions on TV rather than the players and coaches taking centre stage – and that’s not something you want to see. That’s says a lot and in the end I had to turn it off.

“I just hope that on Sunday, the game is decided the right way and we end up looking back at the performances of the players, not the match officials.”

Arnold’s performance in his 26 months in charge of the Mariners has brought only plaudits – and he was this week linked by the Chinese media with Chinese Super League Guangzhou R&F.

Mariners owner Mike Charlesworth said he knew nothing of any approach but reiterated he believes Arnold - who has a year remaining on his contract - will be inevitably be poached by a European or Asian club.

“I am certain what he has done as this club has not gone unnoticed,” he said.

The former Socceroos player and coach acknowledges the lure of an overseas gig is tempting.

“I take a lot of pride in the fact that some people say myself and Ange Postecoglou have helped lift the tactical level of the A-League and I would like to test myself now overseas, either in Europe or Asia,” he said.

“It would be a question of finding a club willing to look outside the square and give an Australian coach a go, rather than looking just for the tried and trusted.

“It’s a bit like a young player wanting to go abroad and further their career, in a way I am no different. As a player I thought I was at the maximum of my ability until I went to Holland and was able to progress to another level. I think as a coach that may also be the scenario.

“By the same token, if nothing happens then I am happy to stay with the Mariners for another few years yet. I know they would not stand in my way, just as this club doesn’t stand in the way of players who want to move on and better themselves.”

On the business of overcoming a Victory side which the Mariners crushed 6-2 in round 22 at Bluetongue Stadium - a ground on which they have lost just once this season - Arnold said: “I think home advantage is important and I am feeling confident. We’ve won 12 of our 13 home games and we’ll be ready.

“But I have huge respect for Ange and his team. People say they were lucky against Perth. But they took their chances when they came.”

Glad to see the excuses are getting in early. This grub is trying to influence the refs to throw a few favourable decision his way despite the fact that maybe other than Adelaide his lot have seen the most generous calls go his way all season.

A Gypo Fan, a Smurfs fan and a Jets fan were all in Saudi Arabia, sharing a smuggled crate of booze. All of a sudden the Saudi police rushed in and arrested them. The mere possession of alcohol is a severe offence in Saudi Arabia, so for the terrible crime of actually being caught consuming the booze, they were sentenced to death!

However, after many months and with the help of very good lawyers, they were able to successfully appeal their sentence down to life imprisonment. By a stroke of luck, it was a Saudi national holiday the day their trial finished, and the extremely benevolent Sheikh decided they could be released after receiving just 20 lashes each of the whip. As they were preparing for their punishment, the Sheikh suddenly said: "It's my first wife's birthday today, and she has asked me to allow each of you one wish before your whipping."

The Gypo fan was first in line (he had drunk the least), so he thought about this for a while and then said: "Please tie a pillow to my back." This was done, but the pillow only lasted 10 lashes before the whip went through. The Gypo fan had to be carried away bleeding and crying with pain when the punishment was done.

The Smurf was next up and after watching the scene, said:" Please fix two pillows on my back, under my dress" But even two pillows & 1 dress could only take 15 lashes before the whip went through again.

The Jets fan was the last one up (he had finished off the crate), but before he could say anything, the Sheikh turned to him and said: "You are from a most beautiful part of the world, your city has some of the best bars, nightclubs and restaurants in the world, your city and football team is known throughout the world. For this, you may have two wishes!"

"Cheers mate, your Most Royal and Merciful Highness", The Jets fan replies. "In recognition of your kindness, my first wish is that you give me not 20, but 1000 lashes I feel I can take it and as I done the wrong thing deserve to be punished severely."

"Not only are you an honourable, handsome and powerful man, you are also very brave." The Sheik says with an admiring look on his face. "If 1000
lashes is what you desire, then so be it. And your second wish? What is it to be?" the Sheikh asks.

"Please tie the Gypo to my back."

My personal faves are the ones where Ryan pulls off a tricky pass to a nearby defender, only for the defender to then mindlessly boot it up field.

pv4
17-04-2013, 12:03 PM
tbh that video does more for bojic's rep than ryan. i got 2mins into it and i'd say 3/4 of the balls, ryan ignored his free centreback (who should be the one dictating play), and has done this chip-pass to bojic across field, and by the time it floats to bojic the opposition has put pressure on bojic and he was lucky not to lose the ball half the time.

it also shows that ryan risks playing across strikers, and at a better level he will get caught out majorly. some of the things he does is good, others i'm sure the euro-scouts etc will be face-palming at and will iron out of him asap

From Football Anarchy - this guy is a nutjob.....

My Grand final Thoughts and honest assessment of those idiots up north

Its going to be fkn hard this weekend, we will be in an absolute scrap fight for the championship - Demonically possessed Central Coast players will attempt to break every leg that belongs to someone that is from Western Sydney on Sunday

About Satanic Coast Mariners

This will be their 4th grand final in 8 years
They have never won not even 1 of them
They are averaging 1 grand final every 2 years
They want it so so so so so bad
And they will stop at nothing to beat the wanderers
They will be very very aggressive and will try everything to break shinji onos legs and play ugly ugly football!! – I fkn hate mariners redneck fkn trash shit EVIL people!!

We have to beat them!!

Things you should know about the SATANIC COAST MARINERS PLAYERS

Daniel Mcbreen – known as “the alcoholic” , typical fkn idiot – should be shot!

Nick Montgomery – known as “the thug” – came from the UK as he thought it’s still the 1800’s and Australia is still excepting criminals.
(he won’t be playing in the GF this week as he was – yes you guessed it – red carded for a ridiculous, dangerous and brutal tackle in the semi-final.)

John Hutchinson – “The Nazi” – Worst criminal on a football field ever
- can drive a ref insane with mental torture by endless complaining and intimidation just as easily as he can snap a leg or break a neck on the football field ,
his heart will not skip a beat as he tackles and mangles opposing players legs
– is known to have ended more players careers than all those fallen in WW1 and WW2 combined
– this guy is like a war criminal - should be in a straightjacket.
During a recent entry to a an A league venue he was going to be playing at a metal detector discovered a pistol hidden in his shorts!!

Patrick Zwaaanswijk - this mental case has no known previous club, though we know he is a Dutch “import”
– recent reports elude to the fact that Coach Graham Arnold hit the European underworld to find a good hitman,
and next thing you know The hitman becomes a central coast mariner-
This guy is the true ringleader, and only god knows the true bodycount this creature is responsible for.
Only Satan himself can calm such a brutal-minded creation – Enter Graham Arnold!

Pedj Bojic – Its not so much what this guy does wrong on the field , but what he does off it – Graham Arnold has fallen in love with this guy and uses him for all public relations, in order to front up to the media in an attempt to hide the underbelly of evil at the central coast mariners – known as “the liar” and “ the face” Runs with his arse out behind him.

Mitchell Duke - also known as “ the horse”, known by this nickname not so much that he is quick but because of the noises he makes when he runs down the wing – a true chicken without a head type player – pointless and dedicated to Arnolds cause to be a butcher – this guy is young but in a few years he may be remembered as the world’s biggest butcher, if Arnold continues to develop him. A true waste of space as are all these other idiots.

Graham Arnold – As a part of his negotiations to join Central Coast Mariners as Head coach, his unusual request to “seal the deal” was to :
A) Sack previous coach Laurie McKenna himself in person
B) have an apartment built with walls that act as chimneys where he can raise the room temperature to nearly 100 degrees Celsius ? wtf?
Sounds like this guy is not only part of the unholy trinity, but is out to destroy humanity in general not just the A-league! – His only instruction to his players is “Kill!”
The Vatican should have a contract out for this guy’s head!- something very evil exists in Gosford and it’s got a name – Graham Arnold!

Arnold is Satan incarnate, fkn bad bad man! i so hope they lose i really do - i just want to watch the post game interview of that evil cnt! his face will crack and a demon will come out
He is the true poison of australian football
harry said it,
Carle was the victim of it

This guy deserves a slow and painfull death

the dirtiest will be the mariners- they will play chop and spoil tactics meaning break legs first and if that fails spoil the game by complaining to the ref and lying around

no they wont wanna lose this one

patrick and John to be the two dirtiest on the day, followed by mcbreen

I actually saw WSW win the match against the roar with unbelievable ease and comfort
I respect broich and Brisbane Roar
but the point is- popovic aint the devil
Arnold is
Popovic might say "Mark Broich tight and do whatever you can just dont let him get past you"
Arnold will say " Kill Shinji Ono and bring me his corpse and dont make me wait past the 3rd minute of the match"

WTF !!!!

http://m.watoday.com.au/sport/a-league/conflict-with-local-association-spoils-the-party-for-angry-mariners-owner-20130417-2i0jr.html

It should be the biggest week of his football life, but Mariners owner Mike Charlesworth says he "can't enjoy it" as hoped, since a fallout with Central Coast Football has left him "angry" and bewildered.
After taking a majority stake in the club less than a month ago, the English-born businessman wanted to not only alleviate the club's financial concerns but also to get the region firmly behind a side that will be competing in its fourth grand final in eight years against Western Sydney on Sunday.
But speaking from Hong Kong, where he is on business until Saturday, Charlesworth said he had been left despondent at how the local association was at odds with the Mariners, for reasons he was yet to understand.
"We are seen as a community club, probably because we do more than any other club on the community front, but we're having extreme difficulties breaking the problems with Central Coast Football right now," he said. "They're very poorly run, very poorly managed and have told me they've got no interest in the Mariners . . . They don't believe the Mariners can help them at a grassroots level."
Charlesworth has already aired his grievances with Football Federation Australia and believes the future of football in the region will live or die on the local community pulling in the same direction.
"I think we've got the support of the local people, just not the support of Central Coast Football. When the head of their organisation says, 'I don't give a damn about the Mariners', I was deeply upset," he said. "I'm the one who is putting millions of dollars into football on the Central Coast and trying to unite everyone behind the club, but this is my single biggest challenge."
Just three years ago, the club and the association had a deal whereby 8000 junior footballers in the area had access to free Mariners' memberships.
Charlesworth says he will do all he can to appease Central Coast Football but his limits shouldn't be tested. "They can have a place on our board, they can use our training facilities, they can use our world-class five-and-seven-a-side complex. It's up to them," he said.
"They haven't articulated their concern, except that it's something historical. I sat down with them a week ago, I said what's happened in the past is in the past and that I planned to keep the club on Central Coast. Their reaction was basically, 'We don't give a damn and don't believe you can help us'."
There might be a small beacon of hope, however, with Central Coast Football postponing all its matches on Sunday to allow local players and fans to make the journey south to Allianz Stadium.
Central Coast Football chairman Darren Sprod could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.

Mariners can handle grand final pressure: Arnold

Central Coast Mariners coach Graham Arnold is confident his players will handle the pressure as they prepare for Sunday's grand final.
The Mariners, beaten three times before in the championship decider, are hoping to break their duck against high-flying debut team the Western Sydney Wanderers in a sell-out grand final at Sydney's Football Stadium (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-04-17/a-league-grand-final-to-be-played-in-front-of-a-sell-out-crowd/4634574?section=sport) on Sunday.

"People talk about the past three grand final (losses) but we can't do anything about them," Arnold said as the Mariners trained in front of hundreds of their supporters at Tuggerah.

"We are fresh and motivated and, as long as we execute our game plan, we will be fine.

"We are looking forward to playing in front of a full house. It's a long time since that has happened there in any code.

"There is pressure on both teams, but I'm sure we can handle it."

Arnold acknowledged the massive fan support for Tony Popovic's Wanderers, but said he hoped neutrals would throw their voices behind his team, including Sydney FC fans.

"The Mariners are everyone's second favourite side," he added.

Arnold's side lost the 2006 grand final against Sydney FC 1-0 before the same scoreline saw them defeated by Newcastle Jets in 2007.

On their third attempt they suffered the heartache of losing a penalty shoot-out against Brisbane Roar, but echoing Arnold's sentiments, football manager Lawrie McKinna is adamant the club can break the hoodoo this year.

"I'm confident we can win it on the weekend," he said.

"It might have taken us four, but it will be very satisfying.

"We're always classed as the chokers so I think it's important - not putting any pressure on them [the players] - but I think we deserve to win a grand final."

SYDNEY FC fans are being urged to intensify the A-League's greatest local derby this Sunday - by coming out in support of the Central Coast Mariners in the grand final.

With a sell-out crowd already confirmed for Allianz Stadium, The Daily Telegraph understands the make-up is expected to consist of at least 80 per cent Wanderers fans.
"So we'd love to have our fans plus another 6000 Sydney FC supporters as well," Coast coach Graham Arnold said. "I think the Mariners are everyone's second favourite team so we'd be hoping to get all the neutral fans.
"We may be the smallest club in the country, but four grand finals in eight years says a lot about us."
Asked if he was concerned about the lopsided crowd having an influence on the decider, Arnold added with a laugh: "No, as long as I don't cop too much abuse it's all right."

After refusing to speculate on his future should his side win - "that's your job, I'm worried about the game" - Arnold also said he had no concerns should the match go to a shootout.
When asked why his team had finished yesterday's session with a shootout, something which has troubled them in previous big games, Arnold continued: "Believe it or not we practise penalties regularly.
"You know, people think we change them up whichever way and don't think too much about it. But you have to be prepared for every 'what if' scenario and we are.
"I thought today, to do it in front of our supporters and replicate a little bit of the pressure, it was a good opportunity to practise.
"We are fresh and motivated and, as long as we execute our game plan, we will be fine. We are looking forward to playing in front of a full house on Sunday. It's a long time since that has happened there in any code."

A MAN has been shot in the head during an altercation on the Central Coast this afternoon.

See your ad here

Police and paramedics were called to an Ettalong Beach property about 3.40pm after reports a man had suffered a gun shot wound.

He was rushed to Gosford Hospital where a helicopter then took him to a Sydney hospital for emergency surgery.

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, has facial injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police are investigating.

Police should really be investigating how this idiot wasn't able to succeed and giving him more bullets better advice

http://www.theroar.com.au/2013/05/01/who-has-the-best-long-term-record-in-the-a-league/

"Who are the best and worst clubs in the A-League?

Several weeks ago, Mike Tuckerman claimed that the A-League had come of age.

While I don’t agree entirely with that sentiment, I certainly feel that season eight will mark a turning point in the evolving history of the competition.

With that in mind, I thought it might be time to look at which clubs have been the most successful, and which have not, through the history of the A-League to date.

With only one or two seasons each, I’ve thought it best to exclude Wanderers, North Queensland Fury and New Zealand Knights from these figures.

I have also excluded finals figures, so this is only based on the home and away rounds.

So which team has the most wins in the history of the A-League? Central Coast Mariners come out best with 85, closely followed by 83 each for the Victory and the Roar.

These three also top the win percentage ratio at about 42-43 percent.

With only 25 wins from 84 games at 30 percent, the Heart props up the bottom of the table, and Newcastle, with 61 wins at 31%, isn’t a whole lot better.

Do you expect to see your team win at home? Well then you should also expect to be disappointed.

CCM with 48 wins from 96 games at exactly 50 percent are the only team to have won at least half their games on their own turf, though the Victory come close with 49 from 99.

The most regularly disappointed fans are in Newcastle having lost 34 games from 96 at just over 35 percent. If you are a Jets fan, expect to lose every third time you go to the ground.

Roar are the best travellers of the comp with 39 wins at 40 percent on the road, followed by the Mariners with 37.

In fact, with a 39-30-28 and 37-30-32 record respectively, they are also the only two teams to win more on the road than they lose.

Apparently Kiwis really can’t fly as Phoenix have lost a massive 60 percent of their games on the road, with Perth only marginally better at 59 percent.

Do you like to see goals? Then watch Melbourne Victory. Their 310 goals at 1.59 per game has them 18 goals ahead of Central Coast Mariners, while Heart have managed only 1.15 per game in their three year history.

161 of Melbourne Victory’s goals have come at home for 1.63 per game, while Melbourne Heart are better at home, boosting their average to 1.29, but are still the worst of any team. Melbourne Victory also top the away goals table with 136, marginally ahead of Roar on 133.

Defensively, the Mariners and the Roar are head and shoulders above everyone else conceding a miserly 216 and 220 respectively at 1.11 and 1.13.

The Perth keeper needs to check the size of his goal posts regularly having given away 291 goals at 1.49.

At home, Gold Coast United were toughest to breach, conceding only 0.82 per match, while away, the Mariners and the Roar proved their consistency with only 1.12 and 1.21 each.

Positions on goal difference then go to Central Coast Mariners on +73 and Brisbane Roar on +66. The team least likely to reach the finals on GD is the Jets with -48.

Finally, and in what many might consider a huge upset, the dirtiest team in the competition with 186 bookings at 2.21 per match is Heart, putting them a long way ahead of Phoenix at only 1.92.

For those who thought it might have been the Victory, they hold the overall record at 331 but only 1.7 per game.

Fear not Kevin Muscat fans, Victory do have the most reds with 22 at a table topping .11 per match."

SHE told a court about having regular group sex with teenage boys, multiple sexual encounters in her bathroom and toilet, and how she ‘‘willingly’’ engaged in oral sex with four teenage boys she barely knew.

‘‘Group sex is like a party atmosphere,’’ the Central Coast mother of three told a Gosford District Court trial after she was charged with multiple child sex offences involving four teenagers.

But Judge Roy Ellis, in a judge-alone trial, found the woman not guilty of all charges after accepting she made an honest and reasonable mistake about the boys’ ages, and believed they were over 18 rather than under 16.

The woman, 39, who cannot be identified, gave hours of candid evidence about sex with teenagers, many known to police, in the home she shared with her children until she was charged in 2011.

Asked how many times she had had sex with a teenager she believed was 19, but was only 15, who later complained of his fears she was becoming ‘‘obsessed’’ with him, the woman told the court: ‘‘I’m going to say a lot.’’

Asked if she remembered having sex with the teenager in a bathroom on Australia Day 2011, the woman told the court she couldn’t remember having sex with him on that day, ‘‘but we have had sex in a bathroom’’.

The woman agreed she bought shoes, food, items of clothing, cigarettes, alcohol and marijuana for one teenager, but denied she was trying to manipulate the teenager or others by purchasing them.

She told the court she sent her primary school age daughter to the teenager with a note saying, ‘‘You can pop up I’m not having people over tonight’’, when she had had only brief contact with him.

She told the court the teenager arrived at her house with three other ‘‘big lads’’ she believed were 18, 19 or 20 – ‘‘big enough to be smoking cigarettes, put it that way’’.

Within half an hour the teenagers had ‘‘propositioned’’ her to engage in oral sex, she said.

Asked how she responded, the woman said: ‘‘I’m like a happy person, so part of me is like in shock, part of me is flattered, part of me is thinking it’s funny, and part of me is considering it.’’

She told the court the act of performing oral sex on the first teenager was ‘‘quick’’ and ‘‘followed by the other, followed by the other’’ to include the other three teenagers, with ‘‘no significant gaps in between’’.

‘‘You obviously willingly partook in these particular acts?’’ she was asked.

‘‘Yes,’’ she told the court.

Asked what happened next, the woman said: ‘‘Just more chit-chat, more small talk. I’m not comfortable unless my company is comfortable, so there’s no weirdness at all, it’s just back into chit-chat.’’

The woman’s children were taken into state care after complaints from neighbours and repeated police calls to her home, which was described by police as ‘‘some type of party house for local young children’’.
