Hey MFKS , I was driving into work and radio saying they may change the game back to Sydney as have the right to do so. I will be fuming if this is the case and it is a right snub to us if they do. Plus I missed the game last time Australia were in town as I was overseas.

Heard the same, but also heard Aaron Kearney say the exact opposite i.e. They are locked in. So who knows.

To be honest, while I will be disappointed if the Semi's were to be swapped between the 2 venues, I could understand the decision. 80,000 fans having the chance to see the National Team versus under 30,000, that's a big difference both in numbers and $$$. And we all know what wins out in the end.

I got Sydney and Newy packs, and have gone to every game so far at those two plus plan to go to both semis, so where the potential Socceroos semi is located doesn't bother me as to if I'll get to see it or not.

But I would love to see a packed Turton Road, with the Socceroos there. Would be amazing!

Jeterpool
19-01-2015, 10:29 AM
What will grind people's gears, if they do change it, is that now the Socceroos have fallen on the Newcastle Semi side of the draw, people have bought their tickets accordingly.

To move it now, the AFC may have to accept single game purchase tickets a refund. That would be at their discretion, however, but it will piss a lot of people off.

100% , we have bought our tickets in good faith and they should do likewise. No other country would do this during a major tournament and if I was the opposition I would be kicking up a stink as well . Its a sporty event and if this goes away from Newcastle for me it would be breaking a unwritten rule of sporting integrity .

I would have thought that the FFA would have had a fair bit to do with it tbh. Much like how they spent the $40mil odd on the World Cup bid book, I would have assumed the FFA would have been involved in the bidding process, and the inspection to get the stadiums up to standard, helped with the scheduling, etc of the tournament.

I know the Asian Cup has a 3-4 day turnaround on group stage games (as opposed to 4-5 for World Cup), and the host nation always gets the 4 days as opposed to 3. I would have assumed this is because the host nations FA would have had a hand in scheduling, and "rigged" it this way.

Would have made sense straight away to do the temp seats for the semi well in advance and sold more tix from the off

The other games were not necessary at all.

Cost would have been significant for no return for the Japan Palestine game and the Oman V Kuwait effort. Semi could have been cost effective 3rd and 4th a bit iffy depending on opponents anyway

Be worth it now as 3rd v 4th could be Australia or Japan. Surely either would still attract a good turn out, especially if it's iran as the opponent.

Be worth it now as 3rd v 4th could be Australia or Japan. Surely either would still attract a good turn out, especially if it's iran as the opponent.

Traditionally 3rd V 4th games are not that well supported.

People were buying them for the WC and tried flogging them off but were having a hard time giving them away. The game is an after thought for the losing semi finalists and the interest wanes.
Usually good spectacles but when you have the 2 semis the final in the same area it is game no 4 on the interest demand stakes by a long long long way

Being though it may well be Australia the game will be well supported then. If it ain't involving Australia I do not envisage a sell out even if it is Korea/ Japan/ Iran match up.

Sure people will go but they ain't gonna be selling tickets hand over fist for it

Fair enough....I think because of the 15000,17000 of 20000 for the first Japan game in newy, the fact that the Iranians are pretty well supported, the fact it could be the Aussies and it's only a 22000 capacity could see a healthy crowd, could be wrong though.

Make sandwiches for yourself.

Put them in an esky.

If people take them, that's their fault.

I know a few local football teams used to do that with a "donation box" for each can of alcohol someone took from the esky - solely to avoid getting a liquor licence.

The old "scare the **** out of people" routine by unelected lobby groups who represent nobody but themselves seriously grinds my ****ing gears.

Do some research on Good Sports and you will find out that they are part of the Australian Drug Foundation which in turn also runs the The Community Alcohol Action Network who's advisory commite is made up of of community representatives, religious groups.

Here is a link.

yes, according to the Good Sports bloke

although he wasn't particularly keen on anyone bringing a case and said it was illegal in parks to bring glass, which we already knew

but as far as drinking on a bus - NSW doesn't have open vessel laws so it's perfectly ok for passengers to drink

They're drug smugglers who got caught. Do I agree with the death penalty? No, but it's not up to us. Indonesia has their own laws and the death penalty is allowed there. You got caught, you throw yourself at the mercy of their legal system. We shouldn't be telling them how to run their legal system.

As for the BS with regard to the AFP, if the AFP did the same thing with any other country where there isn't a death penalty, it wouldn't be an issue. Why should the fact that Indonesia has the death penalty affect what we tell them? Or should we stop sharing information with the U.S.?

Fair Punishment???

So you wish to debate whether this was fair??

Well lets forget the bleeding obvious that there are piles of signs at Denpasar Airport advising against the activity, The Australian Government Travellers website provides plenty of information advising on doing this activity, lets also ignore the fact it is pretty much common knowledge that Sth East Asia has the death penalty for drugs.

So ignorance on the part of these two can't really be used.

I suppose you have never attended a hospital in the middle of the night to see someone you know be resuscitated 3 times and then sit with them in the morning as they suffered through a hell of an ordeal whilst the effects of their drug overdose are in effect and then see no punishment taken for the halfwit who decided to give a 16 year old kid looking to experiment with drugs and have a good time as kids do a drug that had not even been produced correctly and had infact been tampered with by having chemicals that should never have even been in it present.

Fair punishment they are still living the good life whilst if it wasn't for medical technology the person I know would have been in the morgue that morning and not going home 48 hours later

I suppose we can now debate whether a foreign country should actually have the right to make a decision on what laws and punishments they wish to have on their society or whether they should have to be doing what a country at the arse end of the world feels it should.

Me I am of the opinion that Indonesia or any other country for that matter is entitled as a sovereign state to make their own laws and punishments.

Apparently that makes me a Bogan for having little time for drugs and those scum who choose to profit from it.

Not disputing that, but the sentiment to boycott Bali because you're anti-Muslim is ludicrous because you would be harming the economy of a majority Hindu based population and it would mean little to large majority of Muslims in Indonesia.

also, i had a response to mkfs typed up but the forum died and i lost it. so, in summary: no one has asked for leniency based on ignorance, it has been on humanitarian grounds. leaning on hypotheticals is stupid; these people were caught, they were imprisoned and the drugs were confiscated.

Never said my friend didn't deserve to die.

He took the drugs and had to deal with the consequences whatever they may have been. If he ended up in a coffin then the consequences would have had to be accepted.

He is just fortunate that he had medical help close by and was given every chance to survive plus he had me praying to Griff on his side etc

He just had his luck in that night. Could have easily went the other way with the 3 times resuscitation etc.

Not condoning him of anything.

It was a stupid thing to be doing and he has paid a pretty heavy price (will most likely have issues with kidney heart etc later on in life) and seems to have learnt a big lesson from the incident fingers crossed and has slowed his life down a bit and thinks more of the consequences of his actions.

apples and oranges mate - bryant is a mentally deranged mass murderer, milat the same and skaf is a sociopathic leader of gang rapists. all are in jail and have the option of rehabilitation open to them but that doesn't ensure that they will take it, or ensure that they will ever be released from prison (which i believe they shouldn't be). rehab is not equal to release.

by what i've read these blokes don't want to get rehabilitated, and will probably never get paroled (skaf the exception as he was not sentenced to life). and rightly so.

chan and sukumaran, while criminals, are hardly any of the former. while life imprisonment would have been a harsh and probably just sentence, it is a reasonable one and not without precedence in indonesia (but i guess it's the same thing for the death penalty, not without precedent etc). however it also would not be out of the question for the crimes they committed.

i'm not saying they deserve sympathy, but they seemed to genuinely be contrite and doing something useful while imprisoned, which is more than can be said for a lot of other prisoners.

but the two blokes are now dead and there's not much we can do about it really.

Saw it. Dodged it.

Anyone tried it?

Yeah I did

Basically a Carmello chocolate. Instead of the Caramel oozing out it is vegemite.

The vegemite obviously ain't sweet but more sour and salty so it is an awful contrast

After 4 pieces of the block I had enough

Me I don't mind the vegemite but I do apply it sparingly. I don't cake it on bread toast etc

The amount in each piece is that much I would use half as much tops to spread on a piece of toast.

i made the switch to an android phone about 3 years ago from an iphone to a galaxy s3 to an s5 (which i promptly lost a week after i got), then ended up with a motorola moto G

can easily say the motorola is the best of the bunch and a third of the price. native android (no shitty skins and bloatware like the samsungs), drag and drop efficiency, and can run SD cards to bump up the storage. rips it, won't change from the moto series

if you want to go outside of the walled garden, android is yer mate. some people don't like it though and are perfectly happy with the iphone (i.e. my parents, thank god it just works most of the time hahaha)

that being said - i'm a convert to a macbook pro for work (quad-core i7, 16gb ram with an SSD), the thing is bulletproof and shits on any other laptop i've used from a great height. space, heat and performance wise it outstrips anything else on the market, and the build quality is impeccable. if i need to run windows software i use an oracle virtualbox to run windows 10 in parallel.

As a musician it pains me to say this but Macs piss all over the competition when it comes to DAW's. The reason is that Macs are electrically superior when it comes to grounding and that means no humming / digital noise when you record - the competition [if you can call it that] leave you with far too many clicks and pops.

Now have the Moto G3 not releaseed yet in Australia, so it ain't all bad, viva españa etc. The G3 has a bigger screen (better visually but harder to hold), better camera and has some hand wavy things that make you feel like Harry Potter, but other than that it's the same and is also 3x as expensive as the first gen one so first gen is still king (have seen that for like $100, is ridiculous).

Generally I find the range of phones available from overseas vastly superior to the shit we have on offer in this country.

Only problem when buying overseas you need to check phone cases batteries screen protectors are readily available whether on the net or with a comparable option in this country.

So easy to get caught out
