Thread needs to be started on this.

Goldeneye - Those of you who used to pick oddjob were cheating bastards. And I miss the intimidation that game would bring as you died andyour opponent could run along, stand over you and continue to fire an AK47 in your face.

Loved proximity mines in Facility. Multi-player starting position in the air vent above the toilet. Always leave a proxy in the toilet. As soon as other play starts they are going to die! Brilliant!

And Moonraker Elite 2 - freaking small bastards. Siberian Special Forces is the true angel of death.

As I said elsewhere - in terms of Multiplayer, I feel that Conkers Bad Fur Day was hyper under-appreciated. I argue that its multiplayer is better than Goldeneyes. But I think Conkers was so under-appreciated or not known by most because of its non-PG rating - it had some absolutely hectic adult themes to it!

Roughly twice a year I'll boot up the N64 again and play through Ocarina of Time. Absolutely love that game - no other game has come close to it IMO.

I used to love playing Ken Griffey Jr Major League Baseball - good, repetitive fun.

It's funny, the whole GTA V thing.. I saw a new petition thats been put out, saying that if that game is offensive to women, then men want Target to take 50 Shades Of Grey off the shelves cause its offensive to men..

But back on topic, i loved my N64 back in the day.. Or "emu's foot" as my now 101 year old grandma used to refer to the controller..
All this talk has definitely got me wanting to go back to my oldies place and dig it out of whatever storage box that its currently residing.. Could aim for a pissed out Mariokart/Goldeneye arvo sometime.. pv4 has already confirmed to me that he will supply tuna and a wealth of knowledge of living in caravans.. SB will provide semi-naked hoes to make it interesting..

Mariokart was absolutely amazing.. I never got in to it on the Wii or anything, there was something about physically moving the steering wheel to go harder left or right just didnt sit right with me.. (My sister was one of "those" drivers back on the 64 who would literally be doing that, as if it would help, and I mocked her savagely for it, deservedly so)..

I'm trying to think of what other games I had back then, I remember I had Forsaken which was like a tripped out underground sort of 3D game.. I remember enjoying it but I hadn't discovered "green herbs" at that stage so I don't know if that colourful game really lived up to its full potential..

Best game system ever.

Mario Kart, Goldeneye, Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie all great games.

IMO any man who thinks 50 shades is offensive, or they don't like it, or whatever is a fxxxing lunatic - and not in the good, FC St Pauli flag waving sense. That book is like viagra to women - I've gotten so much more unexpected, insane sex just from the mrs reading it.

I was shithouse at Goldeneye, but very tough to beat in Mario Kart Battle. Mario was the beast at that game.

And Super Mario 64 still one of my most favourite games ever! One of the greatest days of my life getting all 120 stars. Roaming the castle and the grounds was awesome too. Well before it's time.

World Cup 98 and Fifa 99 were the first football game I owned too, bought for that system

I also had fifa 98 road to world cup... back when you could tackle the keeper and get sent off!

i remember the day i finished mario 64... it and goldeneye are still the only two games i have stuck at and finished!

I used Donkey Kong for both race and battle and just loved him. It fxxxing sucked playing against cxxxs who used Yoshi/Toad for race, and then wanted to steal DK from me for battle - I bet parksey was one of those guys. Hence why I always shotty'd Player 2, so it was easier to beat them to choose DK :rof: Big Donut and Skyscraper sucked though, but the other two were brilliant.

LRO - loved 98 road to world cup! I had it on Playstation. Them indoor games

You could also intentionally dive in that game too! So many players got sent off.

Deadset going to get the 64 from the folks this weekend now...i bought a unit ages ago and sold it on again. Worst decision ever. Mind you I remember getting it out again and realising how poor it is compared to current games. Might be best not destroying positive childhood memories.

I don't remember intentional diving in 98 RTWC tbh.

Still, a sick game. Loved it. That was my first ever FIFA game. I remember I had FIFA 98 RTWC and a bunch of my mates had the World Cup 98 game - the one that basically made the "I got my head shaved by a jumbo jet" song famous. And They used to ridicule me for having the shit version, but after playing WC98 I still think 98 RTWC was far better.

I'm with pv4 on Conkers Bad Fur Day, loved it. Although i always got dominated by the dumb teddy bears, use to get picked off from a mile away with them.

In my spare room at the moment is like a geek's cave,
SNES
N64
PS1
PS2
Gamecube
PS3
Xbox 360
Game Boy (yep the one that was a house brick and see through)
Original purple Game Boy Colour
GBA
GBA SP
DS
3DS.

Favourite game across any platform was Yoshi's Island on SNES, love that game, could finish it in 3 hours easy without just rushing thru the levels, phwoar

Start tape, have shower, have dinner, come back, type run, go to toilet, get a snack, come back and the ****er was frozen, rage quit, calm down and repeat.

My favourite was typing

1 print"Sean is an idiot"
2 goto 1
run

Sean is an idiot
Sean is an idiot
Sean is an idiot
Sean is an idiot
Sean is an idiot
Sean is an idiot
Sean is an idiot

Nintendo 3DS is where it's at now. Mario Kart, Monster Hunter,Pokémon, Donkey Kong, Zelda. Final Fantasy, Resident evil, Mario and Luigi, Yoshi, Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem, Smash Bros..... and so on
It's everything the N64 was but you can carry it in your pocket.

Golden Eye on the N64 was a great game though.

Far too little Super Smash Bros being mentioned... my favourite game ever. So many hours spent either on the original or on emulator on my mates laptop at school with USB controllers. Only downfall is not that fun playing by yourself.
Diddy Kong Racing > Mario Kart.
Haven't played it in ages but Star Wars pod racer was a really fun game as well from memory, quite difficult and very high skill ceiling on it. I think one of the last levels had like 5 minute laps or something and was like a friggin maze, probably heaps of shortcuts on there but never strayed from the safe routes I found from following the computers lol.

I played Mario Kart on my Super Famicom on the weekend. One of the best multiplayer games ever. Difficult to drive when you are laughing so much at the characters.

Bowser and Yoshi are my goto characters.

Star Wars Pod Racer was king. I played it a few months ago after years of not playing it, and I freaking sucked though :rof:

This is true, Smash bros on gamecube was madness! Mariokart on game cube was a heap of fun too! it was pretty much an extension of N64 kart!

Never owned any of the later consoles (most modern is a PS2 :whistling:) and when i tried both Melee and Brawl I couldn't really get into them. Although I will concede from what I've read that Melee was a lot more of a technical game. If interested, there's a doco on the SSB Melee competitive scene on youtube somewhere that I watched a while ago, probably easily found with a bit of searching. I never really played the game but was still interesting. If you just want some highlights from SSB64 search youtube for Isai ssb 64, the man is a god. Would not believe how far you can push the game.

Read a compelling argument a few years ago on how DKR was better than Mario Kart and have been of that belief since. I will agree that the "battling" in Mario Kart was way more fun than that of the DKR game. Although the donut level was dross, the one with the coloured blocks was gun. But I much prefer the racing in DKR than that of Mario Kart. And then it has the adventure aspect on top of that, was pretty pioneering in that regard.

E: On reading back maybe I'll expand - Racing in Mario Kart is fun too but the emphasis is mostly on the items in my opinion with a little bit of driving. Whereas DKR is mostly driving with a bit of items. Dunno, I guess I just like getting a reward for good play/skill, driving better in MK doesn't get you very far, be better off praying to the RNG gods for red shells and gold mushrooms.

On Pod racer, I agree, haha. I played it again a few years ago on the original console. And was surprised at how damn good some of the records myself of my brother had set. We were probably 10 y/o give or take, younger probably when we played it. So it was a bit of a hit to the ego when I wasn't able to smash records left and right .. or any
