View Full Version : Mitch Cooper
Couldn't find a dedicated thread to him. Like a Phoenix, he rises from the ashes. I swear this kid was dead. He's practically an angel or ghost now.
Anyway, in the warmup before the Phoenix game, I saw Cooper and for a good 10mins thought it was Flores. A little bit because of how he looked etc, but mostly because he was freaking amazing in the warmup. The kid just lit it up.
I didn't see him do a whole bunch when he came on, but I have confidence that if/when he gets a bit of a run in the senior team, we could have a real thing on our hands.
Discuss.

He did more in his 10 minutes than I remember half of the others doing in the previous 80. Here's hoping two knee reconstructions haven't ****ed up his plans to be a professional sportsmen like they did mine.

I don't remember the second half..
I only remember we were 1-0 up, then suddenly I'm watching a Newcastle team win their game later that night..
I can only assume everything was just great.

He's a player with energy and looked excited to be out there. I think he did well.
Could be the only kid who escaped GVE's touch to destroy his confidence.
Good thing with this kid is he is a positive attacking player who likes to play forward.

After his 10 min stint, I think he showed enough to warrant more game time.

I'd rather him replace Flores then Caravan or Virgin.

I thought he did very well against the Jets and the Phoenix.
He's got good technical skills and appears to be very athletic as well. So I expect to see him released within the next few weeks.

Got something about him. Biggest thing I noticed was his confidence to get in there and demand the ball straight away. Shows he still has confidence in his abilities despite the knee surgeries

I was actually questioning the decision to bring him on when the game was effectively gone, and on a wet track.
I guess the physio's etc. would know more than I would, just an observation.
He did look positive, and hell knows we can do with more of that!

Make him Captain.

Watched him at Weston the other week and he did not shirk any of the physical stuff one bit. Went into quite a few 50/50 challenges very confidently. Lundy was another standout that day.

I would have actually brought him on with 30 mins to go and either subbed Montano and pushed Griff to 9 and played Cooper as the No 10 to look for the second goal. Exactly why our coach shows no interest in making a sub to get on the front foot and win a game beats me

Agree, the club has invested so much time in him with his rehabilitation after two long-term injuries. Now when he has had a full pre-season under his belt and is fully fit it would not make any sense to not give him any more game time just because he has had 1 or 2 indifferent displays.
**** no!!
Stick with Kanta @ 10 - it worked and Cooper was shiiite.

I'm still adamant the middle 3 were all terrible in the first half and cooper was the only one to be subbed due to his experience compared to poljak and kanta
I would be happy for him to get another go.
he is a talented footballer, he just needs a run of games.

Miller said that Cooper not shutting his man down caused Kanta and Poljak to get over run.
So while they were all not great, coach said Cooper was the cause of the problem and that's why he was subbed.
More than happy to give him a fair go but if you're not doing what the coach wants then you gotta expect the hook.
Having said that Miller still hasn't signed Griff so he's a stupid head and the club still sucks balls.
Miller OUT.
Middleby OUT.

Would love to know what he's done to not getting the park.
He was called over today at the 82nd minute mark to go only to not have the substitution occur. Watson could be heard saying "gaffer" and seen gesturing to be subbed. Instead he played out the last 10 minutes of the match.
If I was told he'd been traded to free up cap space it wouldn't surprise me in the least

Agree 100%, to be on the bench week after week and to warm up but not get 10 minutes can't be any good to any player let alone a young player who is still trying to regain confidence after 2 major injuries. At the start of the season I think everyone had him as the 2nd choice #10 behind Leonardo, now he is clearly behind both Kitto and the makeshift Kanta as well. It would seem that Cooper's chances of getting any game time are virtually zero as the season progresses.

I hope for Mitch Coopers sake that he gets picked up by another club during the transfer window. He's far too talented to be sitting in limbo waiting for an opportunity to play in A-League where he belongs.
Coopers form in NYL has certainly made Miller look like a goose as well. That's probably why Miller has pulled him out of the NYL side and parked him in limbo - so he doesn't show Miller to be the fool many here suspecting him to be.
I support Cooper but I no longer support Miller. That kind of mind **** shit towards young players is not something I ever want to see at my club.
Trade the kid or play him Miller.

Bloke has no engine. Surprised he got past his usual shift of 60-65 minutes. For a starting DM that is strange.

No engine. That is only the beginning of his deficencies. I bet the bloke would even cock up the cutting and peeling of the oranges.
