Think we can snatch a draw out of this one. Adelaide play midweek so fatigue may play a factor in their performance Friday.

After watching the match last night and seeing how easily Adelaide controlled Perth, and remembering how easily Perth controlled us, we are in for such a world of hurt on Friday night…

I think we’ll be lucky if we only concede 5.

This guy will destroy us tonight. Just have a feeling against our defence, he might gain a lot more confidence. He gets into so many great positions against a good defence, imagine the chances he will have against us!
He is obviously hot and cold (very cold sometimes) with his shooting but i rate him so highly for his potential and is never short on entertainment!

For all those loyal fans enjoy tonight and remember what it feels like. It is a feeling we have to demand from our club in the future.

As for the game lets face facts for large parts of the game we were seriously outplayed. Tonight was our night with the luck going our way finally.
We got the win but lets keep things in perspective. We still have a lot of work to do.

As for Adelaide how shit of a coach is Gombau??

I've forgotten what it feels like to win. It's ****ing great!

Even if we hadn't got a result today I was thinking that was the best the team had looked all year. A number of standouts for me tonight. I thought Virgili played really well. That extra bit of room and he looked a lot more dangerous. Even looked a bit stronger. Kanta and Caravella were immense tonight. They did so much work.

I honestly didn't think we only had 33% possession. I thought we had more so there you go.

Something really good to build upon. The monkey is off the back

For me, even not considering the goal, Scott neville was easily our best.

Hoole i thought was lucky not to get a second yellow.

Virgili will earn a lot of renewed fans from tonight but i still found him awful, his crossing is diabolical and even the good moments he did were just made redundant when he tried to cross afterwards.

Did Jeronimo truly rep the badge after scoring? :rof: if so.

This is a huge bandaid fix for stubbins. He rode his luck playing 3 at the back. And if it wasn't for Adelaide not actively attempting to win the game for 60mins, things could have been a lot worse.

33% possession at home is poor. Time wasting when drawing 1 all at home is poor.

If we played this poorly but got the win every week, i could handle it. But because i know this is a lucky result for us, I'm still in the Stubbins Out train.

I hope Bridges did well with the stopwatch tonight.

Viewing from the top stand, it seemed to me that after Stubbins did his whole circle jerk thing (can't wait to read Loweys comments on THAT) the boys didn't know exactly wjat to do but Carney went straight for the Lunatics corner, and it seemed to me it was on purpose that he wanted to ignore bay 60 corner. So a few followed him, which turned into all but Neville and BK. Actually i don't think Caravella did any form of crowd celebrating, he just stayed in the middle with the coaches. And i think Montano had ice on his leg so barely hobbled anywhere.

That's how it seemed to me

That's how it seemed to me
Carney and Griff moved towards us gave us a clap, we started singing for Griff.
Griff then came all the way over and called everyone else on in, things then got epic.

Griff is god
Griff is good
Griff is great
Griff is everything

Actually will have a pop at that David Carney. When Neville scored the entire side made it to Neville doing the honourable thing and celebrating with the fans bar him and BK. I will cut BK some slack as Keepers are not prone to running 100 metres to join in goal celebrations every time. Carney just stood in the middle of the field in the middle of Adelaide half watching the goal on the big screen and could not give a ****

First home game I have been to in 2 years and picked a good one. Atmosphere was fantastic.

On the game, kudos to Stubbins. Formation was perfect for Adelaide. Virgilli and Hoole played well on the counter and Caravella had the time to control our attack in the Middle of the park. Back 3 were superb with Neville getting a special mention.

My only criticism is our strikers. Griffiths and Montano as a combination does not work as neither are mobile enough. There was zero pressure on the Adelaide backline with even Caravella charging forward at one stage when Montano was bludging.

Neuman needs a run of starts and will continue to find the goal. But special mention has to go to Mitch Cooper. As soon as he came on he energised the team, applied pressure across the park and I felt changed the game in our favour in the last 15mins. Deserves a starting role next week.

Sigh of relief when we didn't cough up an equaliser.

Now, seeing the internet turds of the world don't like people in other countries to watch their video content, can anyone help with some technicalities on how I can watch video replays from here?

Its about putting it in perspective. This win was the result of the style we have played this season and probability suggested we would win one of the games we got lead in sooner or later. So far we have played 11 games and we have not done enough in any of them to deserve winning one of them.

If Adelaide play that way again they will win 90% of the time.
We keep playing the way we are we will still keep losing with the rare anomaly of a win like last night.

Perspective not delusion

Disagree that Adelaide carved us up, sure they had a truckload of possession but the majority of that was around the halfway line and I thought the energy and pressing was far better than anything else we've thrown up this season and restricted them to relying mostly on long balls from halfway in the first half at least. There was a spell of 15 minutes or so starting 5 minutes before they scored where we dropped off and I thought they were gonna run away with it, but a couple of subs and we nabbed the second goal and then we seemed to get the spring back in the step and closed it out. I guess I feel like even though they had most of the possession, they didn't have all that much useful possession? For the most part we never bothered trying to hang on to it, as soon as we got it we went on the attack while they had no such inclinations bar the middle period of the second half. They had a couple of good squandered chances, but so did we. Hoole/Montano should have scored towards the end of the first half and Cooper should have scored or assisted late in the game, had a free man to his right screaming for it.

Caravella MOM for me, thought he bossed it both on the ball doing all the simple things right and had heaps of energy tracking back and breaking down play in defense. Welsh struggled to contain Mabil but that was a mismatch and he did the best he could have.

Agree with all that except caravella. He had his best game for us but was still a bit ordinary defensively. He left kanta with a 2 or 3 Adelaide players to mark consistently throughout the game while he ball watched. zenons best game with the ball but not without it. I would still prefer peps and celeski over him in there every day of the year even when he is at his best.

I noticed him go walkabout and press the defenders/keeper two or maybe three times which then left a huge hole in the middle and had potential to cause us issues and nearly did one time. You may be right though, I'm a bit guilty of ball watching at times, both when spectating and playing haha so I might have missed him slacking off in the background at times.

Stubbins set the team to play counter attacking football, and surprisingly his game plan worked well against Addlaide. Substitutes made a difference for a change rather than being ill timed and detrimental. The better team won and only a fool would suggest we were lucky. The test will be if we can do it again.

I am no Caravella fan, but he pressed because our strikers were standing like statues for large portions of the game allowing the Adelaide backline to gently to pass the ball around. It was frustrating to watch let alone be out there.

As soon as Neuman and Cooper came on that changed.

The biggest mistake Stubbins made on the night was not bringing on Pepper the second Mobil came on. His game is simple: run at the defender. Put on a fast fit bloke who can stop him from doing this and he is quiet. Their goal (and all their threats) cam from him on the second half. Welsh couldn't go with him.

Caravella looks good when he leaves the roundabout at home and transitions quickly. Never sure which version of him will show up.

Virgilli had his best game in ages. BK looked good even though he finds the sideline too often. I thought Carney was strong.

It is still evident that the time isn't fit enough.

I think we played the best way we could against them. I'm just glad we met them as their 3rd game in 8 days. I suspect the result would have been different had they been fresh.

If Stubbins is going to employ Virgili as a track-back type winger again, he'll need to actually teach him how to defend. Kept Jeggo onside, and didn't even get close to Goodwin (who he was marking) for the Adelaide goal.

IMO it helps that he has considerably improved. BK a few years ago, I'd sweat with nerves anytime the ball went even close to him. Nowadays, I'm less nervous but still of the belief he is at best a reserve HAL keeper.

Luckily I have resigned myself to the fact that our squad will mostly be made up of reserve HAL players, old guys looking for a last kick before retirement, and failed imports now, and forever on, because I am unable to see the sky ever truly being lifted on this club.

I mostly agree with this.

3 points is not all that counts.

3 points against CCM, and finishing above them, is all that counts. And if we can only gain points through basically luck, and not highlight the obvious issues shown in our performances that other teams will instantly exploit, then ththere's less hope we'll survive like we somehow did v Adelaide.

His body expression is one of "oh, shit" the moment Jeggo plays the ball. As would all of our reactions if we let our man slip like that.

I don't expect Virgili to be a world-beating defender, particularly because he's rarely used there at all, but I'd like these kind of experiments to happen on someone elses time if we're any chance of winning games.
