Wait, is this Round 15? HAL draw says yes, I can't quite figure it out.

Anyway, Stubbins has confirmed Jeronimo will start this game.

That is, if Stubbins is coaching still.

Birraz is reportedly trialling in Italy with a Serie C team so we can assume either BK keeps his spot or Solari gets a go.

Alex Brosque was talking after the game and said something like "yeah well we've got the last game before the break so we'll pick up full points there to finish up.
It wasn't 'might' or 'hope to' get the points like every cliched response is supposed to be, but WE WILL get the points.
Good to see other teams treating us like the joke that we are.
Good for the game IMO.

Don't watch the first half. Everyone was shite. Second half much better. Hoole played right back in second and stopped turning it over as much and generally did ok defensively.

Cooper was ok showed some flashes of talent but he and jeronimo were very isolated whenever we got it forward.

Virgili was better when moved forward to right wing in the second. He got found out consistently in the first playing wingback. Couldn't beat gersbach one v one but was ok when put into space.

Kew consistently under the pump in first half. Made some weird forays forward at times but otherwise ok in the second.

We need a centre mid ASAP who can pass, direct play, create going forward etc

I still don't understand the obsession with the 352. Is he sticking with it because we jagged a win against Adelaide when on a night when they brought their shooting boots, we would have conceded half a dozen? Is he keeping it because we successfully didn't concede from 15 shots at goal while being dominated in possession against Victory only to be undone by a free kick?

The only thing I can see for playing 3 at the back is our lack of left back in 4. And the performances of Welsh have done nothing to suggest that he's remotely capable of playing football, same with Gallagher. It's a sad state of affairs when gallaway would improve the backline over those two hacks.

The Dunster
04-01-2015, 12:10 PM
It's club policy to always sign a player or two not up to scratch so Fozmanites like us have something to complain about every week.

Hence, Welsh was a key signing.

Really? I can't understand why anyone would question why we are playing 3. And I say that with utmost respect to your opinion.

In the previous 10 games before switching to a back 3 we conceded 23 goals. We have 3 strikers who are capable of scoring regularly, all of which is wasted as long as we concede 2 to 3 goals a game.

Bar the aberration against Melbourne City we have conceded 2 goals in 3 games with a back 3.

I have resigned myself that this Jets squad is better playing counter attacking football. We don't have the quality to dominate other teams through the midfield so I see a back 3 with wing backs as the best way we can use our squad to the few strengths we have.

Although the front 2 need to be far more mobile than what they have been, which is probably why Stubbins experimented with Jeronimo and Cooper upfront. But the performances are improving. A bit more work needs to be done in linking the wingback to the strikers in transition but hopefully it will come. Otherwise give us the spoon now.

Grimario
04-01-2015, 12:46 PM
If not conceding is what you're after, great. That doesn't change the fact that Adelaide walked thru us repeatedly and wasted chances or that we were dominated by Victory. If Sydney could have finished, it would have been 4-0 at the break.

352 is diabolical and dumb luck is the only reason we're not conceding five every game with it.

I am saying until we stop conceding everything else is pointless.

If you think it's dumb luck than you aren't watching closely enough.

Both goals scored against us against Adelaide and Victory were not goals. Goodwins was well offside and Berisha should never have been awarded a fk. We had by far the better of the chances against Adelaide, don't know how Hoole could miss from 3 yards. Victory threw everything at us and only a dodgy ref decision got them a goal. That was the most organised we have looked in defence all year, by a country mile.

I am not saying s back 3 is particularly good football to watch as we are efftively playing 5 at the back in defence, but it's all we have this season.

borat
04-01-2015, 01:15 PM
I got say too, didn't take Arnie long to revert to his whinging moaning self. The FFA need to slap a ban on him for that outburst.

I have watched the replay of Janko's disallowed goal now several times and both Jets defenders are clearly standing to the left of the line drawn across the pitch with both Sydney strikers off side.

It's a close call yes but every team cops close calls every week. It wouldn't surprise me either if Janko only took his shot because he saw the linesman's flag up.

Arnold is clearly deflecting why his team hasn't scored a goal in 5 games and should be punished for his outburst.

**** Wollongong for a joke.
Took 5 hours to get there.

Getting home was even worse. Missed the train after Ft by a min and then had to wait 90 mins for another. Probably cause I was doing big s's and circles to get there
Got into Central at 1:20am and had to wait for the 1:45 train to Newsy.

Got off at Gosford at 3:10am for the scenic tour of the Coast to Wyong. Got into Wyong at 3:50am to get the news we are bussing it back to Newy.
Finally get off at Kotara at 5:15am and have a 20min walk to the estate.

Highlights of the day would have to be catching up with the great Q Man and many other people
Giggling at how shit the service was in the pub. One bar wench and twenty to thirty in the queue. Oh my :sigh::sigh:

Lowlights would have to be the splitting headache I had most of the trip home after blacking out on the train home from Wollongong to Central and falling down the stairs. Having some big hairy bloke poised to give me the kiss of Life was not a pretty sight from the floor

Anyway question for Body did you actually ask Carney for his autograph or not??

Is there a cardinal rule we can't play Nev at left back? I realise he isn't left footed but surely he's a better option then Gallagher and welsh. Then play Hoole or someone on the right.

I have watched the replay about 10 times and think that Janko marginally off side-foot just over similar to the decision against the scum a few years ago.Very tight decision for AR who had one view in real time and had the guts to make the call(well done Alison)Agree with your comments about Arnold-must have great vision to be able to see that play from over 50 yards away. Also interesting that there was no reaction from Janko as you would expect if he was convinced that he was onside.Plus they had several other chances that they could not convert-both BK and Welsh slipping over at vital times.

I would bet that Janko knew he was offside as he was looking directly across to the linesman, saw the flag up, and decided to take lash in frustration.

I thought he was onside when the ball was struck, but that he was unmarked due to him being in an offside position moments prior - therefor he gained an advantage from being offside, so the call was correct.

* my understandings of nuances of the offside rule are limited.
** jets fan bias
*** goalkeeper bias - they're always offside!

Hard to say from all camera angles given, as it only clearly shows feet, not torso position.
Either way, probably a 50/50 call. We got it. We've had alot of 50/50s go against us.

Bang on. It was a call that went our way for a change.

We have been on the end of a few which have hurt us.

DeSilva off side in Perth
McGlinchey offside for Phoenix
Berisha dive last week
That Heart bloke not getting sent for professional foul when he hauled Hoole down.

About time one went our way!!

The fact that he was offside moments prior means nothing-if IN YOUR OPINION he was onside when the ball was struck then he should have been rules onside-it is all about whether he gains an advantage by being offside when the ball was struck-butwe can agree to disagree. It was a very tight call which the assistant saw in real time without the benefit of repeated slowmo replays and I applaud her for having the courage to make the call.

None of the players are leaning over in that pic but standing straight up. Both SFC players are on the right of the line and Jets on the left, its clear offside albeit by half a step. The angle the pic is taken makes it look a lot closer than what the linesman/woman would have been looking it which is straight across the field.

Same old Arnie, always whinging. Its a lot easier to complain about the refs than to explain why a team boasting 2 marquee strikers hasn't scored a goal in 5 games

It was only a clear offside for me once I saw the picture with the line on it.

When it happened and with subsequent replays, I thought he was onside. The still shot with the line suggests offside was the right call.

Absolutely. The person with the best view of anyone was the linesman, and they ruled offside. And Janko, judging by his reaction, didn't seem to have a problem with the call. Nothing I have seen tells me a mistake was made let alone an SFC conspiracy as Arnie has openly stated.

Memories of the game are sketchy.

Recall BK pulling off a great save at the end.
Madaschi missing a free header from 4 yards where either side we score. Did we have another shot
Madaschi pulling off a great tackle.

Giving the big ones to Dimitrevic

Other than that we appeared as per usual abysmally boring

People really should get smashed before watching the Jets play. It is so much more tolerable :rof:

Don't know if I really need to watch the game again sober. Struggle to see what good would come out of it.

All I need to know is we are undefeated in 2015 and this run will at least go 24 days straight

**** yeah
