Checked the rulebook. 1st and 23's most likely be rescheduled for a Wednesday night whilst club has to pick either Thursday or Tuesday for 19's/17's.

Check the competition rules-clause 10 states that matches postponed must be played the second week after the postponment with firsts and U23 played on the Wednesday and the home team deciding whether to play the other two teams on the Tuesday or Thursday.Check the NFF website-that has been the policy for the last few years like it or not.

Very very True Sancho... I put that to the Secretary of a local club and he confirmed it. Due to a lack of desire by NewFM Clubs to voluntarily go and steal local junior sides and have their own 13, 15, 17's Northern put out a survey asking about expansion. What ages, how many in first year, hub or game day scenario etc.
It came back and clubs were informed it would be 17's, the clubs voted down the hub idea and voted in the interchange not subs for 17's.
It was LATER informed to the clubs the refereeing would be a concern, you may not get all you may not get any officials at times during the year and it may impact NewFm, WPL and NPL Youth. Clubs were told to send min 3 max 5 people to one of two nights to do a 2 hour course on being a linesman.
The next step where the U15's are introduced will be a huge test as then clubs will be forced to run Sat & Sun games which most clubs just don't have the volunteers to do, only other alternative is that I can see if we will start playing 1st Grade at 6pm and clubs won't be going back to sponsors for after match day drinks/dinner any more. But that's an argument for the future.
Do you know when Northern are thinking about introducing the Under 15s?

10. RESCHEDULED FIXTURES
Fixtures postponed due to inclement weather or any other causes must be rescheduled and replayed the second week after the postponement,
with first grade and 23 Years scheduled for the Wednesday night. The home club reserves the right to determine which night
(in accordance with above – Tuesday or Thursday) the two lower grade fixtures will be rescheduled.
Should inclement weather persist and cause the postponement of rescheduled fixtures NNSWF will liaise with the home club to determine new fixture dates.
The availability of players or team officials will not be taken into consideration when determining rescheduled fixtures.
NNSWF reserves the right to determine changes to the above.
The 1st/23's were originally scheduled for next Wed 22nd. 1st I've heard of this change for 1st/23's AND it differs from the rules...
Guess someone will tell me at the games tomorrow. Maybe the 2nd bold print has been enforced??

I played today across the road and only made it in time for 1sts but I was told the 17's keeper played for the 1st grade. He had a great game between the sticks too. And yes the Cookers do have a bright future in New-FM, as do the other promoted sides. All doing reasonably well.

Good to see more players coming across to the main game (I play for AA/H). I've been to all home games so far and it's a pretty entertaining comp. Completely agree though, Toronto looked awful. They were all over the place for the majority of the game. Sad to see what was a big club a few years back struggling but they'll pull through. Maybe not this season though.

I'm trying not to be too biased. I follow the whole comp plus I go to a fair few NPL matches as well. Just a fan of local football. I think the New-FM comp is a great pathway. It's good to see teams like Cooks Hill, Wallsend and Kahibah get the chance this year as well.

First grade ladder as of round 7:
1 Valentine FC 17
2 Lake Macquarie City FC 13
3 West Wallsend SFC 13
4 Wallsend FC 12
5 Cooks Hill United FC 8
6 Kahibah FC 8
7 Belmont Swansea United SC 7
8 Cessnock City FC 7
9 Singleton SC 3
10 Thornton Redbacks FC 3
11 Toronto Awaba FC 3
Still early on, but all 3 promoted clubs doing well. Especially Kahibah after coming towards the bottom of ZPL last year. Gumps has them well drilled.
With Phoenix still to have the bye they are really only 1 point in front of Lakes, so still an open race for promotion.

So the NNSW decree at the start of the year that clubs might struggle to get Refs for under 17s proved false tonight with Macquaire Football providing 3 officials for the 17s.

Not having a centre ref for 19s isn't good enough. I understand the lack of linesman as there's a slight shortage of referees but got to send a main ref to each and every New-FM game.

I think you'd find that the junior branches can, and will, provide more referees to the senior games as long as the numbers allow it, such as during the various break weekends (ie Anzac and queens birthday long weekends). However, junior branches first responsibility is to the junior ages and all age, plus 1 ref for newfm 17s and the various wpl and junior NPL. Obviously tonight, Mac refs could afford to send more.
As for the 19s, that's pisspoor communication from NNSWF, NNSWSLR and MFR.

Kahiba calling the game off is a joke. Surely the fed have to step in and set some basic guidelines for clubs being allowed to call games off.
Maybe it could be that the refs decide if the pitch is unplayable or something else but the current system doesn't work.

Kahiba calling the game off is a joke. Surely the fed have to step in and set some basic guidelines for clubs being allowed to call games off.
Maybe it could be that the refs decide if the pitch is unplayable or something else but the current system doesn't work.
Maybe they fancy their chances at night now....

Thornton V BelSwans
1st grade 1-2 BelSwans 2 goals in added time
1-1 terrible advertisement for football
1-3 as was this

from what I've been told Thornton could consider themselves a little unlucky and slightly gutted after the "smash and grab" raid by Belswans in the injury time loss!

I hear BelSwans are getting a few players back and it may be a little closer than people think.... at least I hope it will be. But the nest is a lot warmer option this time of year.

That's a shame. Was going to be top of the table clash in the 19s. Too many fields around town can't handle a bit of rain (if it's been called off for that and not something else).

That sounds like you're putting your hand up to fund improved drainage for all the grounds around. Although, it might be a bit more than simply putting drainage in, a lot of grounds are clay based, which doesn't let the water drain as well, so you may need to rip the ground up and put sand-based soil back in,

Yeah, plus a lot of fields are either in the bottom of gullys, such as Myamblah Crescent, Harry Edwards and CB Complex to name a few. Main issue is that councils use the sporting fields as flood ways, such as Heaton Park and Walker Field, which means they're suspect to flooding.
Ideally, council would replace the top soil to allow the water to drain away faster. But when would you do it? The fields are pretty much used every week, either Cricket or Football would have to give, and I don't think either would give up for a season.

I played at Myamblah on Saturday in pouring rain and have no idea how it was allowed to go on. Ball was stopping, players were falling, crazy scenes. Agree, not much you can do to fix the problems at some fields, just hope for sunshine I guess.

Theres plenty you can do in clay based material that wouldnt require the removal of the whole surface.
1. Diversion of the surface water via surface drains into pits and underground pipes - then into storm water drainage systems
2. Subsurface drainage in the form of Ag Pipe around the perimter of the field and at some intervals through it, again draining into the pits that are coping with the surface water.

I would also have thought the locations of sporting fields are a big issue. Most are on land not suitable for building houses shops etc.
They are usually located in low lying areas, with creeks/drains near by or on reclaimed swamp.
Add in the clay bases typically found in the Hunter and lazy arse councils who do nothing to rectify the grounds drainage issues and we have what we have

Council wont invest. The expectation (for our club at least) is that we apply to hire the ground year to year(no long term lease) but that any upgrades must be paid for by us. Our field (ZPL team, not NEWFM) have summer usage by Atheltics, and we had organised funding for drainage to be put in over the summer, but it was not approved by Council as it would impact on the Atheltics.

Be interesting to see if Kahiba play their game against Westy after they called last weeks game off with a dry pitch (or is it that a few blokes won't be in Melbourne like last week).
Clubs need to get the balance between pitch protection and playing football back, far to many games are called off these days to protect the pitch when a game could easily be played without placing the players in any danger.

I played after wet weather at Kahibah last year and it was fairly dangerous. There were a fair few holes after the earlier games ripped the field up. I think they've done some work on the pitch in the pre-season but doubt it'll be on. If they called last week off I think they have to call this one off too. I'll be making the trip to Cessnock tomorrow to watch the Cookers and looking at the radar that game may be the only one on tomorrow in New-FM. I'm not sure how good their field is up there though.
Was driving past Hexham an hour a go and they were out playing a Drugby code on the field near Ozzie the Mozzie.
That place is a swamp
Maybe someone clubs need to harden up

Cool. Much rather see the game played tomorrow rather than a Wednesday night in a couple weeks time. And to Member, it's annoying how many grounds are easily washed out but it's less dangerous in my opinion to play rugby or league on a wet field than it is football. It's very easy to get injured when trying to turn with the ball or cut inside on a heavy field, that's a great way to stuff up an ankle. The thing I hate the most is when the council (NCC, not LMCC or Port Stephens) blanket closes all the grounds in town.

Game ended up being very physical towards the end with Westy down 2-1 and looking to score.
There was a bit of a tussle on the field between the former Westy player mentioned and one of the young guys for Westy which got everyone's blood boiling I suspect.
So as the teams were making their way to the sheds up the slope at Wembley, I'm under the impression that it was Westy a player that made a remark that isn't fit for the forum to the former Westy Player now Stag.
Which caused the push and shove, lots of players and officials in between trying to break it up, lucky it didn't escalate further.

With a bit much in the final third Westy could have got a result and they'll know they should have beaten Cooks Hill with a man advantage.

BelSwans were extremely unlucky…..Unlucky that is not to walk off at half time 4-0 up and playing against 10 men instead of 2-0 up and playing against 11. Reminds me of an 88th minute penalty (converted) in 2008 in ID2's away v Uni.
They won the Minor Premiership with that win. (1-0)
No appointed refs that day..for 1 v 2 game.

Should be a good game tomorrow at TimeRite Park as it's now known. I'm getting in early to watch all four games. First chance to see Wallsend play this year. Keen to see what they bring to the table. Also I agree that Northern need to update their stuff faster. My site's one of the places to find current ladders.
Hello Northern NSW Football. Knock Knock...anyone home???
Can someone please click the update button on the NewFM Sporting Pulse league tables??
It is a slight to the competition that the midweek games from Wednesday and Thursday nights have not been updated at 5pm Friday afternoon.
The next round starts tomorrow and the only way to find out the midweek results is either via the Foz or other unofficial sites.
The clubs are required to enter the results into sporting pulse. If it has not been updated you can only blame the home clubs for that.

That's true but nnswfootball still have to accept the updates which then update the ladders and publish the scores for general viewing. This has not been done since Thursday morning. This is why no mid week results are available for any of the 17s and 19s games.

Thanks for the kind words. I only started due to the lack of coverage in the Herald and on NBN. I think the New-FM is a very good quality comp and deserves good coverage.

Cool your boots, man....
I put the Cookers/Westy 1st & 23's results in on my sh!tty Samsung Pocket Neo from the canteen post match Wed night. (around 10:15pm)
(Btw, if I can manage on that dinky little thing, no excuse for anyone else who has a smart phone!)
Those results were updated by Thurs morning....and that was late. Usually I've observed it updated after 12am.
17's & 19's were done when I got home last night at around 11pm.
I just logged into SP then and the scores; both HT & FT that I entered are just sitting there, waiting for SP to sweep for them.
I'm calling a SP glitch....

sportingpulse updates at very weird times and isn't in any way consistent - it doesn't even appear to be related to traffic (or what I'd expect to be busy times)

Had a look at that earlier. Good article and some high quality photos to go with it as well. Sports Hunter is another place to find local content across a few different sports, including football. Nice guy who runs it as well. The more places to find New-FM results and reviews the better in my opinion.

Results from the TimeRite Athletics Field today.
1st: Cooks Hill 2-3 Wallsend
23's: Cooks Hill 0-1 Wallsend
19's: Cooks Hill 1-1 Wallsend
17's: Cooks Hill 1-0 Wallsend
Wallsend were up 3-0 in the first fifthteen minutes and looked home but the Cookers didn't lay down. I think Wallsend will know this was one that they escaped with. They should have buried one or two one on ones. If their defensive line started the game better, the Cookers certainly would have had a chance.

Heard Toronto had a penalty shout or two waved down and apparently the goalie was taken out for second goal. This was from a Stags lower grade player so wouldn't mind hearing the other side of the story.

The issue last week? A player getting horrendously abused and winning 2-1?
But alas to today, the Stags couldn't convert their chances, not sure how many shots Belswans actually had but they ended up with 2 goals.
First was a goal line scramble from a corner and the second yes a somewhat dubious challenge to our GK.
The Ref was closer to the Stags penalty box when the possibly penalty happened, I don't think it was a Pen anyway.

Hahaha....big comment judging a team on one performance. Need a bit more base line data maybe.
BTW playing 4 up front was a gamble that nearly paid off for you guys. How many balls did your team play thru the midfield... just wondering.
How did the Stags go against Phoenix????
Wallsend are doing it beautifully at the moment. 9 wins in a row and yet to really show their full potential. After losing, in my opinion their best attacking player to work commitments after the first few rounds, they have not put a foot wrong. They seem to have a nice balance of youth and older guys, would be great to see them promoted. If they can get an NPL license?
I'm sure the club are required to hold the NPL license prior to start of the season to be promoted. Does make a joke of the promotion relegation if Wallsend do come first but don't go up due to this.

A club secretary confirmed to me yesterday that Wallsend cannot be promoted and if they finish first, last place NPL side will stay up. It's a shame they can't go up this season as it'd make things more interesting but still the race between Valo and Lakes will be a good one, especially if one of them can knock off Wallsend. I'm keen to see who wins the Wallsend v Lakes catch-up game in the next few weeks.

"Watched the swans play lakes at lakes same style of football..:"
Well, you've seen them play one game on a "rugby" ground and the other on a mud puddle, but I guess that's all you need to make your judgement! If that is the case, then I've seen the Stags as many times as you've seen BelSwans, so then I'd have to say that the Stags are one of the dirtiest, grubbiest teams in the NEWFM.
"If you honestly think the Swans deserved to win yesterday your football knowledge mustn't be too good… "
No I don't think I said anywhere that BelSwans deserved to win, just enquiring how you believe that the Stags style of play was any different. I think both teams were crap but maybe the ground was an issue???? Remembering BelSwans have won 3 and draw 1 of there last 4 games (all away from home), must be doing something right????
"Overpriced former players trying to run a show"
Could you please clarify and justify this statement!!!! Seems very odd!
Anyhow Captain best of luck with your "relegation " battle. Maybe those grubby off the ball tactics that were employed in the last ten minutes when a certain player went forward will work against a less experienced outfit.

The ground was in a very poor way, both teams played a basic approach just think the swans sat back and scrapped two goals...
The last I thought was a foul on the gk....
The relegation battle will be tough... The stags are going through a rough trot at present but I'm confident the local juniors will battle to get them out

3-0 after 17, nice volley though. 2nd: keeper 'credited' with Oggie (15th min) but denied he (or any Cooker for that matter) got a touch when I quizzed him at school today on that goal.
(Before anyone starts with a sm@rt @rse comment there, my 6yo daughter goes to the same school)
On that note, I strongly suggest that managers check team sheets for 'errors' after matches. I'm not 100% certain that lower grade team sheets
are completed straight after their respective games though. Seems to be the refs have a proper break before they go out and swap roles for different grades.
The sheets seem to be finalised after FT of 1st grade. Still, exercise your right and check 'em.

Wasn't there, got messaged results. Decent wins for Kahibah though.
Also that 2nd goal from Wallsend was complete shambles. Didn't look like it got a touch from the Cookers, plus keeper's a good kid who wouldn't lie about it. Credit to Wallsend though, played a good style I reckon, Cookers would have had a better chance if not for a very bad start. Kudos too to the guy who gets the review up every week. Not many teams in New-FM publicise their game stats and goalscorers, etc. Will try and make it to the Gardens to watch Wallsend v Lakes whenever it gets put on, should be an absolute cracker.

Yeah I saw the same. OG from a throw in ? Two Wallsend players: one either side of the Cookers goalie. Comical.
What a season so far for Cookers. 2 broken legs, fractured arm, fractured jaw and ruptured acl. All in first grade. Not to mention all the complaining on the forum regarding a pen a game almost and send offs. May as well start a sub forum.

Just to Clarify, the Wallsend FC match reviews are written by the club and are not meant to be official reviews. We do this to provide coverage of the NewFM league to those who are interested. We aim to be as objective as possible. The goal scoring times are only approximates and in regards to the dubious 2nd goal, after listening to accounts from Wallsend players who all claim to not have touched it, we recorded it in the report as an own goal.
Thanks for your kind words NewyTy, should be a cracking Wallsend Derby this Sunday at 'The Gardens' which is also the club's Old Boys Day.

Very game having a go at a referees integrity I hope your not a registered person you may find yourself in some trouble. Unless you are a ref yourself I don't believe anyone has a right to have a go at a referees integrity, we need to support them as much as possible especially the younger ones as there is not enough at it is. With many more juniors coming thru we can't stand for people like you that want to offend a referee and possibly have them give up refereeing. They need to be respected and have their integrity unquestioned whether they are related or not. They will make mistakes as will all players and coaches in a game, it sounds like your team should be more worried about discipline in your own box than the referees relations.

While I agree the referee should have said to Macquarie Refs Association about possibility of people taking view he was not impartial due to relations with other team it is up to the referees association to not put these young people in this position. Was at all 4 games on Sunday , Wallsend 17s starting to go backwards in comp , not putting enough passes together , trying to play long balls , missing left winger that was there afew weeks ago, now playing in 23s ,well done on the promotion, also quick right winger missing first half , made a difference when he came on the 2nd half some good combinations with a player that just came on, probably would of got the winning goal if was not called off due to an injury
19s much improved squad with some new players creating some some good combinations, couple of good quick attacking players ,
23s smashed them about time , still require more improvement , westy were not good
1sts are getting better all the time , and still can improve more , good all round squad , could remain in top spot for rest of season , even though they still need to play Lakes and Valo

I agree we need to support referees, I always have and always will.
My rant has nothing to do with not supporting them, I'm questioning the appointment and acceptance.
Would you take the match under those circumstances,I wouldn't, and I don't think I'm wrong thinking most would feel very uncomfortable...too much conflict of interest and leaving yourself open.
By the way...there was no indiscipline in the box, further than that I will not comment because that's not my rant.

Fully agree, referees association should not put a young ref in this situation, I am assuming they made an error and that this would not normally be allowed to happen, but unfortunately it did.

While I agree the referee should have said to Macquarie Refs Association about possibility of people taking view he was not impartial due to relations with other team it is up to the referees association to not put these young people in this position. I notice you didn't say whether the penalties were justified. Seems like making excuse for a defeat.
While playing 23s for an NBN club, I was put on to ref an U/15s (the old NPL Youth-esque comp that was trialled a few years back) game involving my club.
I contacted the relevant people and discussed my concerns:
a) The pressure it may put on my relationship with my club.
b) The way the opposition/spectators would perceive my decisions if they knew of my allegiance.
c) and that i just didn't feel comfortable.
I was told that it shouldn't be a problem, and that people wouldn't judge my decisions. I ended up saying that i didn't feel comfortable refereeing my club.
In the end, the compromise (due to appointments) was that i would do the line, and centre the previous game.

After watching west Wallsend today i am shocked they have any points at all

They did replace some of their better players
What the FFA Cup does beyond promote the existence of local clubs across the country is highlight that aside from 1st Division (NPL I am old fashioned), when it comes down to it there is little separating some teams from 2nd Division (NEWFM) to 5th. There is even a couple of clubs in 6th with players and rosters who could rattle the cage of so called better clubs in higher divisions if all players available. NNSWF needs to provide more support to clubs in the lower leagues. Apply pressure to the various councils to give the lower leagues a chance to play on better pitches that can cope with a little rain. Why dont they pick a combined rep side out of each division at years end to play in an inter league cup from 2nd to 6th Division. I have seen teams like Simba, Olympic, Uni, both New Lambtons, Dudley, Mayfield Seniors, Jesmond ID1s ( this weekend), who feature players who would walk into NEWFM but work or Uni or family stops them. NEWFM is miles apart from NPL but not far off the better teams in the lower grades.

Don't judge this years NewFM standard based on West Wallsend's performance on the weekend.
Westy haven't won a match in NewFM since beating Cessnock 2-0 on the 19th April.
They have lost 6 of their last seven matches and their last two games were a 8-1 loss to Lakes and a 5-0 loss to Wallsend.
Westy started the season with a few good players holding the team together (including their keeper).
Now that the keeper is gone along with a few other season ending injuries their lack of depth is showing.
Anyone that has been following their form would have known that a thumping by a NPL team this weekend was assured.
In contrast I thought Valentine held their own in their loss to Adamstown.
I have watched a number on NewFM games this season and I believe the standard is significantly higher than in previous years.

Stags - Lakes
17s 1-1
19s 1-1
First non Win of the season for Lakes 17s I believe. Good effort by the Young Stags in both games.

They drew their last match 2-2 with Belswans. Surprised to see it's now two straight draws. Agree, great effort by the Stags.

Last nights rain was torrential in Newcastle last night.
I would say big question mark on whether this weekends games will go ahead in many competitions.
In NewFM the Cessnock and Thornton games Sunday might be ok but Cooks Hill, Valo and Wallsend games would have to be in serious doubt.
Can anyone confirm?
I wouldn't mind watching a game this weekend if they are on.
I'll be down at the gardens tomorrow morning to see how the pitch held up, last thing we want is another washout

Cookers will play.
It wasn't the water that was the problem. (even though I acquired a decent sponge this morning to mop any off!)
No water to speak off on arrival at 10:30am other than a damp patch grandstand side of inside the centre circle.
I spent 3 hours just raking up all the grass swales from the deluge.
Some of them were collected and piled so high it would have been unplayable. Other areas where the clippings
had sheeted and were lying thick, removing them allowed the grass underneath to dry out.
I've never seen the field so bad with the clippings before. (Cookers have been there since 2010)
Anyway, I'll sleep well tonight...

Great effort. Looking forward to watching the games tomorrow and glad it's still on. Lucky Kahibah's away from home or that would have been off by now.

Cooks Hill United v Kahibah F.C
1st: 4-1 Kahibah (deserved the win and looked very good, will boost their finals hopes greatly knocking off their nearest rivals in that style, missing a few players too so big effort)
23's: 2-1 Kahibah (didn't see the game as I had my own game on across the road, have been told that Cookers lost with the last kick of the game)
19's: 5-1 Cookers (Saw the first half and Cookers scored a couple of nice goals. Big win for the Cookers and one that goes a long way toward securing a finals berth)
17's: 7-0 Kahibah (Absolute horror show from the Cookers. Heads dropped and the boys struggled, especially when they reduced to ten. All class by Kahibah though. Minor premiership still up for grabs)
Also, wow on that Valentine score. Sends a clear message that they're not dead and buried in the promotion race.

That's one thing I think we're all hoping for. It's been crazy how much rain there's been this season. Hard for anyone to get into form when games keep getting re-scheduled and what not. Thornton's called their New-FM off for tomorrow because the cricket pitch area is still covered in water so there's another wash-out to add onto the list.

Cessnock v Lakes:
17's: 7-0 Lakes
19's: 3-1 Lakes
23's: 3-1 Lakes
1st grade: 4-1 Lakes
Messaged results so can't comment on the game but decent day by the sounds of things for Lakes. No real surprises.
