You could quite easily pick up something that is actually genuine silk or satin as it looks and feels very much the same stuff and pay much more like $20-$30 metre so be careful that you have the right one before committing to purchase.

I just use hem tape and iron the shit on. Pick up a roll of it for about $5 for 10m. Just pin the hems in place of about 1 inch then slide the tape in and iron. Takes barely 15 mins to do the hems

Holds quite good for the purpose.

Not sure of the implications if security see a huge influx of people coming to sign it, but if you're bringing banners every week I hardly think it'd take more than 2 weeks to fill up and gain a bit of exposure in the media as it becomes a sea of black and gold.

Tossed up on buying the cheaper or dearer strength version went the cheaper as they had a bit open and got a feel of it and am glad the cheaper option appears to be as strong as it is.

At this stage I would recommend the use of it.

The 10M x 2M size in its entirety would also work for Tifo but you are gonna need a huge space to work in to prepare it.

As long as the banner is "inoffensive" & doesn't block views, security will have no valid reason to demand removal of the banner or those holding it.

I'm sure that any sitting where the banner is displayed will happily move a bit. It's not as if the ground will be full and there will be no empty seats.

Might be worth discussing it with the head of security on the day. They are probably sick of watching this crap as well. Just a thought.

Whilst I understand what you're saying, I will point out that we shouldn't be like the RBB and focus everything around how much media coverage we will get. This thing should be designed with the intent that Murphy, Stubbins, Tinkler (if he's at the game lol) and the players see - personally I couldn't care less if the twitter-sphere miss it.

IMO it should be unravelled as the players lineup to shake hands, that way when they run to take their positions it will be in full view for them and everyone else - and all eyes will be on the field/stands by then.

Lquiquer is right should defo need a minimum of 12 and 16 would be ideal.

Its hard to do them justice as to how big they are. Whilst working on them I have had them folded up with only a metre or two exposed. Once done then folding them up has been fun.
At this stage I haven't actually stretched them fully out in their glory but they are ****ing huge!!!

They were over telling us to put it down.We had been told for a couple of mins before hand but were busy fobbing them off with questions whilst they kept being polite. The first goal went in point made everyone went back to watching the game.

The story I got was Hunter Venues demanded it come down

Was planning on doing it at Kick Off but it was flogging down so figured wait to HT and get there when the seccos are too busy dealing with whos had half a beer too much in the HT beer queue. We had it up for a few minutes before the players came back out. A couple of players were having a good laugh.

DISGRUNTLED supporters staged a protest as the Newcastle Jets suffered another demoralising defeat, going down 2-0 to Perth Glory at a rain-lashed Hunter Stadium on Monday night.

Out-played by the Jets in the first half, the visitors scored two second-half goals to claim three points and join Melbourne Victory at the top of the table on 44 points but second on goal difference.

Andy Keogh headed home a Jamie Maclaren cross in the 49th minute for his 11th goal of the campaign before substitute Nebojsa Marinkovic sealed the win with a show-stopper in the 84th minute.

It was more of the same from the Jets. They dominated for large periods, especially in the first half.

They had the better of possession, more shots on goal and delivered more balls into the penalty box but had nothing to show for it.

Edson Montano and Mitchell Cooper failed to convert a host of chances. On another night Andrew Hoole might have had a hat-trick.

‘‘We certainly created enough chances to score, but it just wasn’t meant to be,’’ coach Phil Stubbins said.

‘‘We have gone away from trying to be just defensively resolute and get everyone behind the ball. We have tried to be a little more proactive and create some chances.’’

The Jets have now gone four games at home without a goal.


The defeat was their 15th of the season and they have now played 24 games for just two wins.

The match drew a record-low crowd at Hunter Stadium of 4192.

Fans vented their frustration at the club’s worst season on record by unveiling a giant banner at half-time that stretched across three bays of the Andrew Johns Stand and read: ‘‘Enough failure lies and arrogance 10,000 fans demand the muppet gone’’.

Stubbins understood their disappointment but had confidence in his vision to rebuild the club.

Glory coach Kenny Lowe admitted the visitors were below par and lucky to claim three points.

‘‘It’s about winning,’’ he said. ‘‘Adelaide came here and Phil Stubbins should have got something out of that and maybe today as well.

‘‘That’s nature. It falls a certain way for certain people and it fell our way today.’’

Despite the wet conditions, the opening 45 minutes was an entertaining end-to-end affair.

All that was missing was a goal.

Playing his 47th appearance, Hoole went close to breaking his duck in the 12th minute when denied at the near post by a strong right hand of Danny Vukovic. It was a sign of things to come.

Enver Alivodic, who was outstanding early, was one-on-one with Vukovic but couldn’t beat the outstretched leg of the keeper.

The ball rebounded to Montano. Rather than hit a first-time shot, the Ecuadorean took a touch and allowed Michael Thwaite to get across and block his effort.

With second place up for grabs, there was a real desperation about the Glory defence.

Dino Djulbic was the next to put his body on the line to block a Hoole effort as the shot count increased to 13-8 in favour of the home side.

The Jets wasted another chance two minutes into the second half when an unmarked Cooper failed to hit the target with a header.

A minute later they were behind.

Sidnei had a long range effort blocked by Ben Kennedy. The ball fell to Maclaren who crossed to Keogh at the far post to head home.

Nathan Tinkler yesterday has said Stubbins is here to stay.
2 wins out of 24 is hardly a record to be proud of but yet the big man who probably couldn't name 5 Jets player 12 months ago has decided Phil isn't going anywhere.
I don't fully agree with Nathan but I definitely don't agree with the banner that was shown on Monday saying "Enough failure, lies and arrogance. 10,000 fans demand the muppet gone."
First of all the person or person's that made that banner don't have the right to speak for ALL 10,000 fans in a matter where we have no say in anyway. All your doing is creating a negative vibe for players and staff which only makes matters worse.
Yes Stubbins has had a terrible season, but the seasons before weren't much better either so we can't ALWAYS blame the coaches. The last 4 years of failure can come from a number of reasons but I think one of the major ones is how badly the club has been run under management cough cough Middleby cough cough, now I know professional players shouldn't let off field drams disrupt their on field success but if you take into account the average age and A-league experience of our players the last 4 years you would see a very very young bunch of lads and being younger it's harder to be consistent on the pitch and to not worry about off field dramas.
“It will turn for us,” Tinkler said.
“The effort is there and adding the quality to that effort next year will see us much higher up the ladder.
“We have plenty of roster spots and just have to be in the market for the right guys.”
Poor finishing has cost the Jets victory in their past two games against Adelaide and Perth with Tinkler admitting a marquee striker is a priority for next season.
As hard as it may be have some faith in Stubbins because as much as some of us want him gone its not going to happen in Tinklers books so let's hope we can produce some quality signings in the off season and we will go from there!
