article in the SMH this morning saying there will be qualifiers in Newy, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra this time around. can't find it online.

SWEET!

our part kicks off in june.

First round: The lowest ranked teams will play home-and-away over two legs to reduce the total number of teams to 40.
Second round: The 40 teams will be divided into eight groups of five to play home-and-away round robin matches, where the eight group winners and the four best group runners-up will advance to the third round of FIFA World Cup qualification as well as qualify for the AFC Asian Cup finals.
Third round: The 12 teams (an increase from 10 for 2014 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(AFC))) will be divided into two groups of six to play home-and-away round-robin matches. Dependent on the number of qualifiers from the AFC, the top two teams of each group will qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_FIFA_World_Cup), and the two third placed teams will advance to the fourth round.
Fourth round (play-off for 5th place): Dependent on the number of qualifiers from the AFC, the two third-placed teams in each group from the third round will play against each other home-and-away over two legs to determine which team will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2018_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_ (inter-confederation_play-offs)&action=edit&redlink=1).
The next best 24 teams eliminated from World Cup qualification in the second round will be divided into six groups of four and compete for the remaining slots of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup (the third round of 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualification will be separate from the third round of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification).

The Socceroos will start their campaign for qualification to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Perth after Football Federation Australia (FFA) and the West Australian Government today announced Australia's first home qualifier will be played at nib Stadium.

The date and opponent will be confirmed in early April when the draw for the First Round of 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying is conducted by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

It is expected the first home qualifier will take place in either June or September 2015.

The First Round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers comprises eight groups of five AFC nations, which will see all teams play home and away in a round robin format, meaning the Socceroos will play four matches in Australia.

The winners of all eight groups and the four best runners up will then progress to the final stage of qualifying, which will see the 12 nations drawn into two groups of six with another round of home and away matches signifying a further five World Cup Qualifiers on Australian soil.

Announcements on the location of the remaining matches will be made at a later

So with 9 WCQ for Russia Newy have to be a show of getting one if the Socceroos being shared around the country is true??

And Bresh Retires.

SOCCEROOS legend Mark Bresciano has called time on his international career.

The 35-year-old Bresciano made 84 appearances in A internationals for the Socceroos over 15 years, scoring 13 goals. He played in three World Cups (2006, 2010 and 2014), two Asian Cups (2007 and 2015) two FIFA Confederation Cups (2001 and 2005) and the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

“It is with an element of sadness but a lot of pride that I have decided to retire from the Socceroos,” Bresciano said. “Playing for my country in the sport I love has been an amazing experience and something I have cherished but never taken for granted.

“I have been fortunate enough to wear the Socceroo shirt at every major football tournament, meet some tremendous people, shared the highs and lows with some great players, and capped it all off by helping us win the 2015 Asian Cup.
“It has been an unforgettable journey with a lot of positive memories but I feel it is time to let this fantastic group of young players continue to take the Socceroos forward.”

Feminists or leftist apologists??

Was hammered by a whole heap of those trendy hipster lefty clowns at Flinders St Station at the weekend.

The ****s were carrying on about wanting to stopping racism in Melburn

When pestered by one of the try hard do gooders I asked them exactly how they actually plan on controlling the thoughts and opinions of the entire population to fit into their little narrow view on the world

When he struggled to answer this I then suggested that they may as well start wearing swastikas and start worshipping the Nazis as those guys were at least half way there to achieving what these lefty hipster clowns wanted

P2 = Vietnam (only non Gulf/Mid East team here)
P3 = India or Maldives
P4 = Timor-Leste, Myanmar or Bhutan
P5 = Bangladesh

I think we should be winning it comfortably. If Jordan are the best side in it other than the away game in Jordan we should have little issues as we should pump Bangladesh home and away The Stans may present an issue away but we should get by them at home we should deal with them as they will struggle with the travel

I also think it would be silly if given the location of the Stans to each other that some teams were drawn to play the two away games at the same week
(not necessarily us) in Bishkek & Dushanbe when a 2 match break is given.

We start with a bye then away in Kyrgyzstan in June then in September Bangladesh in Perth and then a few days later away at Tajikistan
Jordan away in October then Kyrgyzstan home and Bangladesh away a few days later in November then finish with Tajikistan and Jordan in Australia in March 2016

The first game in Australia is in Perth and tickets are on sale tomorrow. The other 3 games are TBA onvenue but would expect the likes of Newy to get a look in as they are gonna be a hard sell in the big cities with small ex pat communities so most likely we will see the FFA take the games to locations where the Socceroos will draw a crowd as no one gets to see them normally

ANGE Postecoglou has made two changes to the Socceroos squad to face Kyrgyzstan in the opening 2018 World Cup Qualifier with Massimo Luongo and Trent Sainsbury ruled out with minor injuries.

Sainsbury (hamstring) and Luongo (ankle) have been replaced by uncapped duo Daniel de Silva and Croatia-based defender Tomislav Mrcela called into the squad.

Mrcela has been selected following consistent good form for NK Lokomotiva Zagreb in the Croatian first division. The Perth-born central defender left Australia as an 11-year-old but has been on Postecoglou’s radar for the last two years.

De Silva has been drafted into the Socceroos squad after catching Postecoglou’s eye in recent Young Socceroos’ matches on the back of some strong performances for Perth Glory in the Hyundai A-League.

“It is a shame to lose Massimo and Trent but it gives an opportunity for two young players who we have been watching for a while in Tomislav and Daniel,” Postecoglou said.

“Daniel is a prodigious talent who has been progressing well and after watching him play for the Young Socceroos against the likes of Brazil and Mexico he has earned a chance with the Socceroos. Tomislav has put together two strong seasons in Croatia and he is a big strong central defender we think can add something to the squad.”

Both players will join their Socceroo team mates in Dubai for a training camp starting on 8 June ahead of the clash with Kyrgyzstan at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek on 16 June.

So your saying a pile of people who have never actually seen him play have been calli g for his selection based on the fact he has been playing in some no name league that has little exposure in this country??

Pretty much everything good to ever happen in Australian football is because of our Croatian/Australian links.

I daresay Australia has a better scouting network set up in Croatia than any other overseas league in the entire world.

I'd rather see a young, recommended guy playing in Croatia get Australian caps before another Simunic (who, lets be fair, was outrageously good and one of Australias biggest ever losses) scenario happens, than to see us persist with the likes of your mate Alex Wilkinson and others who are doing not noteworthy anything drastically better in K-Leagues and other places.

Give him a run, remind him which nationality he should play for in the potential scenario he goes on to be a world beater, and if he fails then don't use him again.

So when is this game kicking off Wed morning?
Wiki says 9pm (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_%E2%80%93_AFC_Se cond_Round#Group_B) local time
Fox (http://www.foxsports.com.au/tvguide) starts at 12-2am, (post match 2-2:30am)
SBS starts 12:30 (http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2015/06/11/watch-socceroos-road-russia-kick-sbs) but I heard 1 hour delay?? so....1.5 hour preamble? Unless it IS live. (1/2h preamble)

So was Troisi and Franjic continues to be. Cahill has had zero service, Leckie hasn't done much either. Jedinak's distribution has been average. Back pair have been okay. Milligan has probably been the least poor.

You have to be ****ing kidding.

Milligan was a ****ing disgrace. His tracking back was non existent. He never manned up next to Jedinak and spent most of the game trying to be the No 10 which ain't his role. All he done was push forward all night clog up the centre of the park so Jedinak Spira Wilkinson had no one to actually pass to.

The only thing he done was that ball to Oar. The rest of his game was 3-10

If the tactic was to play 2 DM's away from home then he left Jedinak high and dry all night and failed his job.

If we were not playing 2 DM's then the role he played should have been played by McKay who is far better suited to it.

Not a stellar game. Behich Franjic Burns were poor. Leckie and Troisi done **** all. Timmy may as well of not played. Jedinak jogged for the most part

Oar Wilkinson Spira and Ryan are the only blokes who came through with little damage to their rep.

How do you know they're playing in perth? Wait for a goal kick...

And within the 1st minute and that goal kick, I was texting Boz and calling it: Perth (Glory) supporters are the worst in the country
and an absolute embarrassment. Cringeworthy to say the least.
A country ranked 173rd odd in the world and they're giving it to the keeper. Fook off back to Eng-a-lund, the lot of ya!
Hope it's 10 -15 years before they get another qualifier...although that pitch looked so smooth it was like a carpet.
Another reason to hate on Perf...

I wouldn't be worried.

Being we only need to finish top 2 of group I feel pretty content we will get enough out of the 2 Stan teams at home and the away leg in Bangladesh the home and away ties V Jordan will be pretty pointless other than the need to get wins to boost maintain FIFA ranking. Sure we won't want to drop points but I not see even getting beaten home and away having any effect on us getting to 2nd Round at all.

Bigger tests await in the next round.

This first up group stage thing is a bit of a farce. Not competitive enough. The AFC is not that strong a confederation once you take away the top 6 sides and the reality is we should be tested in all games and we ain't being tested much at all.

As for Timmy

Champion of Australian Football but it is high time Ange bit the bullet now and pensioned him off.

Watching the game V Bangladesh even though he not start it is obvious how much we need to find a striker for the NT. Burns and Leckie are not the answer. All game V Bangladesh the pair of them are stationary all game just waiting in centre of park.

The way Ange has the side playing needs a striker in the set up to be moving to provide options

As soon as Timmy comes on then game plan changes and we start hoofing crosses in aimlessly towards him.

We start him V Tajikistan and same shit happens. We dominate possession but offer little in the front 3rd until the last 20 mins.

We would look so much a better side without him there. He is not a striker and does not have the engines these days to play midfield

Not that we have a lot of options up front but with Russia now less than 3 years away we need to start looking seriously at this issue.

Taggz gets himself fit and playing and the gig is his.

As for the rest of the side its shows much promise for a bright future

Ikonomides Luongo Rogic Wright show potential big time.

The bloke to bag some goals for us needs to be found
