2. Holy shit, I can't remember scoring early ever! At a wild stab I'll say Heskey, I feel like he scored early against maybe Victory AND Heart at home.
3. Without cheating and looking up at your appearance list and counting, I'll have a stab at just over the "squad limit", so will go 25.

2. I am struggling to think of a game that we started brightly in years. I know they keep talking about it on Foxtel that we've now gone 30,000 games without scoring in the opening 15 minutes... Maybe Heskey vs Heart 2 seasons ago? Was a Friday night game and we won 2-0.

More than that, I reckon. Think we are at 20 just with the people we have on the books now. Throw in the 5 sacked players plus all the ones that "left"... pushing 30, maybe more if I am forgetting a few folk.

Looking it up, we have 22 on our books currently. I think Vanstrattan, T. Cooper, Barresi, Lundy, Solari haven't featured for us, so 17 on our current books have played. The 5 sacked, plus the 4 to have left by "mutual" consent (Jeronimo, Flores, Gallaway, Steele) makes 26. Then I'll add in Cowburn & Crowley as youth-only players to make 28 as my final answer!

Q1 - Wrong and wrong
Q2 - As with Grimario, you're both right. Heskey scored a 10th minute goal back in Season 8 at home against the Heart. That was 50 games ago.
Q3 - Wrong.

Q2 - See above. Good memory on the game. Ryan Griffiths got the other one.
Q3 - Nope

I'd like too see us maybe use Montano similar to Heskey when he was playing behind Taggart. Obvious problem there is we don't really have a Taggart for him to link with unless we wanna start Radivan but it could be worth a try considering our season is effectively over.

Wellington were by far the better team and deserved a lot more than a draw. The Jets scored from two set pieces one of which was an own goal - and created very few other chances.

The big problem for the Jets is that they have absolutely no respect for the ball and give it up far too easily.

The effort is there at times but after this many games without a win player confidence would not be high. [ Hello Captain Obvious]

The game that we conceded late goals:
In injury time Round 1: 1-0 loss to Mariners
In 87' Round 2: 1-1 draw with Melbourne City
In 94' Round 3: 4-1 loss to Nix (3-1 down at the time)
Not as late but 74' and 77' in round 4 away to Perth. Leading 1-0 at the time
In 89' Round 6: 4-0 vs Roar (already 3-0 down)
not as late but 73, 74 and 78 vs Nix after leading to lose 3-1 in round 9
In 86' Round 10: 2-0 vs Glory (already 1-0 down)
In 85' in round 12 to lose 1-0 vs Victory
In 92' in round 15 vs Adelaide when 6-0 down
In 93' in round 16 vs Brisbane when 1-1
In 86' in round 17 vs Wanderers 1-0 to go 1-0 down. Only time we scored again after conceding a late goal
In 93 today vs Nix up 2-1 into 2-2 draw

In summary that is 15 goals conceded late in games

Also number of times we have lead is 7
And number of times we have won is 1
We have lost a 2-0 lead twice

That's a stat that just kills a team's confidence. We simply can't close games out. It's hard to fix something like that because it's a confidence issue more than anything.

Kanta, excellent in defence but from his position needs to execute his passes with a little more accuracy

Let Burns & Krishna run far too much into the box.

Thought the ref was going to be fair when he didn’t give any of those home pen calls at the start then turned into a c*** by ensuring the home team got a point.

That's as good as it can get with Stabbins at the helm.

Jets coach Phil Stubbins was well pleased with the way his under-pressure team backed up from last week's 1-1 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers.

"We can come away from the last three games with our heads held high, we've had three very close games now and we've certainly worked hard enough for the win," he said.

"The kids that are out there will be learning a hell of a lot. I think we've taken another step forward in terms of education today."

Newcastle Jets coach Phil Stubbins has criticised some refereeing decisions in yesterday's two-all draw with the Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand.

63/37 possession
19/8 shots
80/61 pass accuracy
12/29 fouls

Hardly the refs fault, you negative ****. **** off.

Just got home from another epic trip to wellington, while I know it isn't a cheap trip I really reccomend it to anyone, the city is awesome with plenty to do plus the wellington fans are absolute class.

The set up at Lower Hutt was awesome compared to Westpac stadium in terms of football viewing, I stood up the back of one of the ends and had a perfect view of the game.

In terms of the game I thought Mullen, regan and neville were ****ing outstanding especially regan. I don't deny that reegz isn't the most technically gifted player he definitely makes up for it with his scrambling no nonsense defending plus you could hear him yelling all game, him and Mullen actually complement each other very well.

I must say the team showed more passion in this match than I have seen in recent times. The way the team celebrated the goal, the way they continued to press and scramble it was like they had some belief. Is this an indicator of a strong bond between the team? Or is Phil starting to develop the mentality he so often speaks of?
