KEY FACTS:
Last weekend was the first goal the Jets have scored inside the first 15 minutes in 51 matches.
Also, following last weekend’s draw the Jets have now not won away from home in over a year. The last victory away from home was 2/3/14 against Western Sydney Wanderers.
The Jets have only won 3 times against the Mariners in the last 6 seasons.
The Jets last victory over the Mariners was round 3 in season 8, 20/10/12. This is a run of 7 games without a victory.
The Mariners haven’t scored a first half goal in Newcastle in over 4 years.
There have only been 7 penalties awarded in this fixture.
At home, the goals come to both teams tend to come in the second half with 44 of the 75 have been score after half time since Season 8.
The Jets have only lead at half time 3 times this season, failing on all occasions to convert this to a win. The last time this occurred was the final match of last season.
The Jets have used 28 players this season.
The Jets have now conceded 11 goals in the last 10 minutes of a match this season. Four of these have been conceded in each of the last 4 matches.
More than two thirds of the goals the Jets have conceded this season have come in the second half (27 of 40).
The Mariners have scored 3 goals in the first half in Newcastle, but have scored 12 second half goals.
Taylor Regan and Edson Montano are both one booking away from an automatic 1 week suspension.
Ben Kantarovski and Andrew Hoole are both suspended for this match.
Taylor Regan has now made 60 appearances for the Newcastle Jets. Scott Neville and Zenon Caravella have both made 40 appearances for the Jets.
The player who captains this weekend will become the 12th player to lead the Jets out at home in an F3 derby.
Jacob Pepper became the 19th Newcastle Jets captain last weekend.
Jets v Mariners Trivia:
1. Because set pieces don’t count as goals, who is the player to have scored the most first half goals from open play, at home, against the Mariners?
2. Which of these players haven’t scored a derby goal at home – Labinot Haliti, Jeremy Brockie, Michael Bridges or Jin-Hyung Song?
3. Last weekend was the first match a Wellington Phoenix player has scored and own goal against the Jets. Which team has scored the most own goals against the Jets and who were the players to do so?

If Phil Stubbins is serious about trying to win the fans back over, he will spend this week firing the group up and send the boys out to win this match and steamroll the gypos. We can't sit back and absorb as we have the last few matches.
This is all we have left this season - this one match. We aren't going to make the finals so after this we're just showing up each week. The one positive we can take away is winning the final derby and breaking a rotten, rotten streak against this mob.
I want the players to show some passion. They say we fans deserve better, they say the want to play for us, then show it starting this match. Don't hold back. Put your body on the line. Don't give them any space at all and get in their faces. Show us exactly what playing for this club means and what pride you have in the shirt.
We want to, no, must win this!
In short, fire up, show some heart, show us the passion we show you.

Without a doubt re: Phil. It would be a start however.
And yes, another depressing season where we are left lamenting what could have been or in this case never was.

Could have been is fine. Look at who we had at the end of last season in terms of players, look at who we brought in... only total coaching/back office cluster**** can be blamed for the shit circumstances we find ourselves in.

The worst feeling in the world, normally, is to lose to the Gypos at home. However, this is some what moderated by the hope that every loss we suffer might drive a nail just a bit further into Stubbins coaching career at the Jets. Tinkler backs him but if failure continues into next season with his second "new" hand picked squad, you would think that Tinkler might lose faith in him.
We can only hope.
So this weekend I am torn by my passionate disgust for both the Gypos and Stubbins. Enough to drive a man to drink....

Won't be present this weekend, the wife is taking me to Future.
I will say this but.
All the tall poppies that give the lads in the Squadron a hard time, this is your weekend to do something.
We're playing the Gypos so motivation shouldn't be a problem.
Either join in with the lads in Bay 60 and help create some atmosphere, or head over to Bay 1/corner terrace. There is a planned reunion in Bay 1 this weekend with a lot of former active members so there should be no excuse for you not joining in.
Instead of complaining about other people, make some effort and get involved yourself. Let the players see how much this Club means to you put differences aside and come together as one against the old enemy.
fire up you f*@k$
Disclaimer, I'm not a Squadron member but now is the time to unite not cut down or critize our fellow supporters for having a go.

Just heard Regan replying to hutchos comments on fox sports news... I might not rate him as a player but love the bloke hahaha
Says Hutcho will break record for most games in A-league this weekend, it would be a shame for him to play it on the bench, very tongue in cheek.
The Journo also asks what makes jets and mariners so different. Regan - "we have close to 11,000 members, i don't know how many they have but i could probably count them pretty quickly." He also added something like -"You wouldn't know how many fans as they never bring any support to newcastle."

He will probably slot straight into Hoole's spot on the right wing.
Then knowing Stubbins, Allan Welsh will replace Kanta. Whereas I think I'd be keen to see Mitch Cooper given a start at #10 and play Peppz and Caravella in behind.

i read somewhere he was central attacking mid
the way both teams attack the game is destined for 0-0, why not spice it up a bit

Was best on ground from the view I had from the couch in Adelaide. Ferreira's only moment of doing anything was when he was on the other side of the park and cut in.
Would love it if we had someone like that Lundy kid who used to play in NPL/Youth or even an ex Socceroo like Carney to play as left winger while Leaky G was awesome at left back every week.

I told you player agents pick the team. How else can you explain that selection?? Someone had to talk the Player agent into playing Ki Ji Le at LB coz there is no way Gallagher would have coped with Ferreira. Then he had to get Gallagher in due to the player agent picking the team etc.

Lee easily our best. I thought pepper had a solid game. Montano once again tried hard but with no reward. Some decent signs showed by the Serb but obviously lacking match fitness and combinations. So sad that Gallagher was played at left mid and played the whole game. Should of started pavicevic on the left and actually had a go.

Just watching the goal no goal call from Cooper.
Linesman about 8-10yards from the goal line at the time. Parralex error and guess work. Not his fault he is actually in position for offside and then has to guess whilst looking into the sun etc

Really pissed off walking out of the stadium.
Firstly at not beating those ****s
Secondly At the lack of intent from us to win. Sure the boys are trying but they just ain't busting a nut enough to make it happen.
Thirdly At the lack of tactical adjustment from Mr Moving Forward. As soon as the Serbian came off we lost any control we had on the game and he done nothing. No formation tweak or substitution. Nothing to get into the game again.
Fourthly At the **** turning his back on us and dodging the fans AGAIN Like a COWARD

We played defensively at home against a team only slightly less shit than we are, or our local rival. Heartless from the coach.
Clean sheet was good.
The ball was not over the line, and the ref missed a clear handball in the box by Mullen. Not robbed.

I will point out that since Travis Cooper arrived Stubbins has since gone out and signed another right sided attacker. That would indicate to me that even Mr 1 from 19 doesn't rate Cooper. The same shit was used for Flores when he strained his hamstring at training. Had to be rested for one game but then it became 2, 3, 4 games where he was "rested". He was an unused sub on the bench for a couple of games, then all of a sudden left out entirely, plays one Youth game inspiring the side to a good 2-0 over WSW then the following week announces he is leaving. Flores was fit and ready to play but like he said at his farewell at Lambton Park "I cannot help the team by sitting on the bench and not playing, I have no choice but to leave!".
Our top scorer in Youth League has not even got close to just warming the bench for the first team.....yet he has a HAL contract....19 games into the season...... and has apparently been injured.....but played a full game today!
I am trying to put two and two together but things are just not adding up because I smell a dirty, filthy, lying rat with initials PS!!!
