This game is going to be so shit.

Nitro Circus ripped the field up (I assume) on the weekend just gone.

Knights play Sat night.

5pm kickoff so you know it's going to be hot, sunny and slow play.

The last home game against the Pissants (which we won) was so freaking boring and frustrating - probably made more frustrating by the fact that we won, and Stubbins had a reprieve.

Jerks.

Loose.

Doesn't matter who wins, what the score is, who goes to watch... Stubbins and Tinkler have stuffed up this club almost to the point of no return.
How sad is it for our great football community and the large junior base that its national representative is the laughing stock of the A-League.
We need to win the wooden spoon as remembrance for the pathetic management and a pathetic year culminating from a run of pathetic years.

Wednesday 25 March 2015
Newcastle, NSW

Past, present & future players to be recognised at Jets vs. Adelaide

The Northern New South Wales football community will be recognised and respected when Newcastle Jets host Adelaide United in Hyundai A-League round 23 at Hunter Stadium this Sunday afternoon.

The Jets have made the March 29 fixture their 2015 ‘Community Round’, and will be using the matchday in a bid to inspire the next generation of talented footballers, acknowledge the contribution grassroots players make to the game in the region, and honour some of Newcastle’s past greats.

Indeed, before gates open for Sunday’s clash against the Reds, every player, coach and manager from the innovative, ambitious Emerging Jets program will be privy to a special presentation from Socceroos legend Craig Moore.

Moore – who enjoyed a distinguished playing career in Australia & Europe, as well as for the National Team – is currently an ambassador of and mentor for Ange Postecoglou’s Socceroos.

The former Glasgow Rangers and Newcastle United (England) defender will share his insights and experience with the squads as they edge closer to the commencement of their campaigns.

Each Emerging Jets squad will also walk a lap of the Hunter Stadium surface at half time of Sunday’s fixture, while selected players from the program will display their skills to the crowd during the game’s pause.

In addition to the Emerging Jets initiatives, every registered Northern NSW Football player between the age of five and 16 this week received an invitation to receive a free ticket for the encounter between the Jets and Reds.

Registered players have until 5:00pm on Friday 27 March to take up the complimentary ticket offer.

Meanwhile, former KB United, Newcastle Rosebud, Newcastle Breakers, Newcastle United, and Newcastle Jets players will be part of a guard of honour when the Jets of 2015 enter the field for their clash against Adelaide.

The former Newcastle football representatives will be at Hunter Stadium as part of their annual ‘Old Boys Day’, sharing memories of years gone by as their modern day equivalents shoot for back to back Hyundai A-League wins.

And following full time all Jets Members and fans will be invited onto the hallowed Hunter Stadium surface to have a kick about where the Jets do.

Newcastle Jets Chief Executive Officer, Mr Mitchell Murphy, said: “Collectively, the initiatives that we have happening on Sunday demonstrate our firm desire to embrace and engage with the local football community.”

“From future stars to greats from years gone by, passionate junior players to our current squad, vast and diverse segments of the Northern NSW Football fraternity will be acknowledged.”

“Fans can consider Sunday as the foundation of a thorough engagement process that will see our activities enhanced leading into Hyundai A-League season 11,” Murphy concluded.

Could well be. Asian cup cash cow has passed through town.
If pitch is damaged from the nitro show at yoeast we'd only be damaging an already damaged pitch.

The scg allow it to happen so a few hundred kids in sneakers mustn't pose too big a threat.

I think it's great idea tbh, the kids will love it.
Shit, I still ember getting out onto the scg at a swans game, if done regularly it could be a draw card for kids, and might help get future fans hooked.

My five year old got her kindergarten membership this afternoon and beside herself about the chance to go onto the ground.

A few more interesting match facts have come to my attention this week

• In the 30 matches between the two teams, there has only been 3 occasions where both teams have scored in the first half.

• When playing at home, the Jets have gone on to defeat Adelaide every time when leading at half time.

• Daniel Mullen will become the 10th player to captain the team at home against Adelaide.

• There has only ever been two penalties awarded at Hunter Stadium in this fixture. Both were awarded in the same match back in Season 2 and were taken by Carl Veart. Despite scoring the first in the 37th minute to peg back Vaughn Coveny’s 26th minute opener, Veart had the chance to seal all 3 points in the 87th for Adelaide but blasted over the bar of goal keeper Ben Kennedy. Not 3 minutes later, Nick Carle would run the length of the field and shoot from outside the box with the outside of his foot to steal all 3 points for Newcastle and give new coach Gary Van Egmond his third consecutive win after taking over as head coach from Nick Theodorakopoulos. This was also the night the stadium was treated to a visit from injured Socceroo and Liverpool winger Harry Kewell prior to kick off.

• The next Jets goal will be the 300th for the club in the A-League.

Chant should start with Sqn on kick off. Those of us spread around the ground should join in and encourage those around us to do the same. Im in bay 6, on halfway and will certanly join in.

However, it needs the combined voices of the Sqn to get it going and give it life.

You're assuming stubbins was better as a player than manager.

Just read his bio as a player... not too bad actually. However, it's got nothing to do with him as a manager and what he's doing to the club now. And ye, Gallagher is still the worst

It took him until the 83 min to make an attacking change.

Honestly, we park the bus at 1-0 down to limit damage. Absolutely amazing.

Seriously we have no cattle, most are only just above npl level.

How did the Stubbins out chanting go?

With the exception of a hard trying bunch in the active support there is not enough hate on game day for Stubbins.

Pisses me off that this f^&*'n useless p^&ck of a coach is getting off way to lightly from the masses on game day.

Could hear you guys very well tonight Blackmac. You were giving the drum a flogging.

Times are tough at the moment mate, it's a nature of the beast and by no means a reflection on the work you all do.

Did anyone else feel like the crowd figure was overstated? 6800 something was the broadcasted figure but it felt far less than that.

Stood waiting for the Muppet to leave at the tunnel. Started clapping and congratulating him on another stellar job and a great loss

The video best indicates his reaction. **** just smiled winked and pointed the fingers at me.

**** thinks he is Fonzie.

At least Fonzie was cool

Think Kantarovski with the ability to pass and score goals and you have Stubbins. Hate to say it but he was very good.

Massively overstated. I'd have said 4,000 with the atmosphere feeling more like 400.

It just feels like we're going through the motions.

At least we showed a bit tonight. We created some good chances tonight.

Also I thought the ground had held up rather well considering recent traffic.

It really is becoming a chore to show up to these games

I just can't find the energy now to show any semblance of positivity towards the team, it says a lot when you can't even get mad when your team concedes anymore.

We were unlucky tonight, I thought Coops and Montano were unlucky not to score at least one each but is the game I guess

they have systematically inflated the numbers all season

I pretty much agree that this is probably happening. I remember the Japan game of the Asian Cup thinking how the crowd number they gave seemed understated massively compared to the Jerks numbers.

I thought closer to 5500. Next seasons numbers are going to be tragic if something does not change shortly.

Crowd about right - it looks less because of the open spaces in the Eastern Stand. Majority of the crowd are in the Western these days,

If we get a 6-7K crowd v Perth and 9 or 10K v Smurfs we will have done exceptionally well.

Stubbins: "the club hasn't got a winning culture"....... What does that mean?.. rubbish talk again...... Hoole and Cooper don't have the composure to finish off chances they get, Kanta missed one yesterday and Montano is attracted to the wood work, what can u do ?....

And whose fault is that, Phil?

Hoole and Cooper don't have the composure to finish off chances they get

What extra training are they doing or being programmed for them?

Kanta missed one yesterday

1 goal in 107 or 108 appearances - no surprise there. He came close though. Would have been a great goal if he buried it.

What were people's thoughts on Max Burgess? Let's put aside the whole local boys argument for the minute.

I thought he looked bright. He has a bit of pace about him and he has a bit more trickery and ability to beat the player than I've seen from Radovan, for example.

Had some people around us calling him Sam, which was odd.

There was one time in the 2nd half when Mullen was still forward from a FK or corner and he took a fantastic dive. Wish he had got a card for it.

Yesterday we were nowhere as good as Muppet pretends we were. Adelaide were very average and made us look good. Could have easily been 3-3 or 3-2, 2-2... etc .... either way ...... But technically we are very average, the amount of bad passes, wrong options and so slow at times in transition can not be ignored.
