I thought he did his knee in his first NYL game after arriving? Really ruined the plan of him being GK Coach since (allegedly?) he doesn't have his coaching papers and had to be on the bench as a player.

Ok. Cheers
A WEEK after staging one of the most remarkable upsets in A-League history, the Jets are chasing an equally memorable encore when they host Sydney FC at Hunter Stadium on Friday night.
Written off as $10 outsiders with the bookmakers before last Friday’s clash with Melbourne Victory, Newcastle scored a 1-0 win that belied the 30 competition points and nine ladder positions separating the two teams.
Not only did the win lift the Jets out of the cellar, leapfrogging two points above Western Sydney in the race to avoid the wooden spoon, it provided Newcastle’s players with a confidence boost as they prepared for their last home game of the season.
With just one win on their own turf this season, and no goals in their past four outings in Newcastle, the Jets have hardly made themselves at home at Turton Road.
But coach Phil Stubbins said there was a collective resolve to provide the Novocastrian faithful with something to celebrate after a largely frustrating campaign.
‘‘It means everything to us,’’ Stubbins said after training on Thursday. ‘‘We’ve actually won two away games on the trot, against Western Sydney Wanderers and then Melbourne Victory, and in the last two home games, against Adelaide and Perth, even the opposition acknowledged we were unlucky not to win.
‘‘We’ve not had a season that we want to write home about, but in the last four games I think we’ve done OK.
‘‘So we look forward to Sydney FC coming here and putting a smile on our supporters’ faces. They deserve it. ‘‘They’ve gone through their own angst and whatever else they’ve had to endure throughout the course of the season, but we can hopefully finish the season off in a strong way and give them some hope and faith for where we’re going to be next year.’’
With two rounds left in the regular season, Sydney are three points adrift of leaders Victory and in contention for the Premier’s Plate, or at least a top-two berth in the play-offs.

The Sky Blues are unbeaten against Newcastle this season, after a scoreless draw and a 1-0 win, and beat them 2-0 three times last season.
Stubbins described them as ‘‘probably the form team in the competition at the moment, and certainly the best team away from home’’.
The coach was delighted with Newcastle’s desperation and desire last week but said they would need to ‘‘go to another level’’ against Sydney.
‘‘They’re strong in every area,’’ he said.
‘‘They’re very effective and capable of scoring goals.
‘‘We’ll have to be at our best, not only defensively, but also we have to be better in possession of the ball.
‘‘We’ve got our hands full, but we’re looking forward to the challenge.’’
Newcastle will need to contain the in-form strike force of Bernie Ibini, Alex Brosque and Marc Janko, the league’s leading scorer with 16 goals.
Stubbins rated Janko the most dangerous striker in the competition.
‘‘The goal return would suggest that,’’ Stubbins said.
‘‘He’s obviously in a very good team, which helps.
‘‘So I’d say, as a whole, Sydney’s got a very strong, powerful team, and Janko is probably the icing on top of the cake for them.
‘‘For the goal return he’s got, I think any team in the league would want someone who’s scoring as many goals as he has this year.’’
The Jets have retained the same squad who beat the Victory but added young attacker Travis Cooper.
Midfielders Zenon Caravella and Ben Kantarovski, who missed last week’s game with ankle and groin injuries respectively, were not considered for selection.
‘‘It’s pretty much the same outfit,’’ Stubbins said.
‘‘I think they need to be rewarded for their effort last week, and getting the win.’’
Sydney coach Graham Arnold is confident off-contract stars Janko and Ibini will stay on next season because of the little things the A-League’s biggest club can provide.
Arnold said marquee Austrian striker Janko, who has reportedly been offered a contract for next season worth $1.4million, was very happy at the club.
‘‘The players know what we provide, and they want to be at the biggest club, so we’re confident they’ll stay,’’ Arnold said before training on Thursday.
I would much more like it if they rewarded us with actually getting their shit together fullstop rather than some end of season win that means **** all amongst years of failure
I would like to win this. so lets lose 5 nil
Grimario

Is it just me or have two of our three wins this season been because of the opposition being off the boil? Adelaide destroyed us and couldn't finish about 60,000 shots at goal. Victory weren't quite as dominant with possession as AU but had about 2,000,000 shots at goal that missed. Even WSW was really only a win because Popa played a team of mostly youth to rest people for a competition they are still competing in.
Sick of all this "what a ****ing amazing effort" BS propaganda and PR spin.
Fully expect a borefest of a game.

Big shout out to the Sydney fans who invaded bay 60 to try and souvenir some shit. At 3-1 down the life was being sucked out of the crowd and as soon as they were noticed it fired everyone up and we scored and the comeback was on.
Typical Jets to blow it though.

This. Blokes lining up for selfies - if any of them have ever uttered a bad word about Tinkler, they should be ashamed of their actions tonight. Disgraceful.
Well in on getting the "We want Stubbins out" chant going big style while Tinks was in close proximity

First time this season Kennedy lost us the game.
His effort on the last goal was what one may call flapping and getting caught in no mans land.
If I remember right Birraz copped and absolute pasting from the BK Fanboi's for doing something similar in a game we already had lost. Birraz's **** up had absolutely no bearing on the result but just added to our already poor For and Against.BK on the other hand does it with the game in the balance.
Will be totally shocked to see BK Fanboi's lynching him for it though
Also noticed he parried a lot of shots last night for some reason (Coaching gone mad) but parried them back into dangerous areas instead of out for corners or to sideline.
Got away with a few in the first half before being punished for it with Ibini's goal

Amen to that, one night and a few gestures do not a season make, but yet I'm seeing blokes who have been vile in their vitriol say how great the two are now after speaking to them, and that everyone should give them a chance.
The muppets have had a chance, to change their opinion on the back of a little gesture like a round of beers in the squadron area show how fickle those fans are, some would correctly say "plastic".
Tinkler would dump us tomorrow in a heartbeat if he could get his price for them, he doesn't give a shit, and this gesture was just an easy way for him to walk off with a shit eating grin knowing how easily the fans were played, just like he's played so many businesses and owed them a motza

It wasn't a pasting. An error was highlighted and examined.
I though BK looked solid for the first 45. I've not seen footage yet but will agree with you on his second 45. The ball he followed to the back post only to do nothing with was not good.

We are too smart for those at the club and particularly those employed by E Group.
Got a tip off that they would be on the look out for them.
Had no issues getting them in.
Just an example of the wonderful Security at the Jets games.
When 5-6 Smurfs try hards came to Bay 60 to steal stuff last night there was 20 Jets fans step into the confrontation giving them the big **** off. Took the Police a minute or two to arrive before they decided to get rid of them.
One bloke doing Security in Bay 60 was too busy watching the game to notice despite it going on 5-10 yards from him the bloke down on the ground looking at Bay 60 must have also nodded off.
Considering the first half had 2 cops and about 6-8 Security Staff in the Bay 60 Area the question really should be asked as to where they were at 65 mins into the game considering we had just shipped 3 goals and blown a lead and the likeliness of anti social activity was likely to be increased at that stage from us Jets fans and there was 1 bloke in the area???.
The general level of security at HAL Games is basically disgraceful when the people are exposed to threat from rival fans mixing in and nothing is done but any number of petty matters and they are all over you like a rash.
Worst lot I have seen this year though are dimwits at AAMI Park. ****ing dumbest ****s on the planet they are

If he wants to engage with the squadron, he & Murphy need to sit down with the committee away from the game.
A few beers and selfies with teenagers doesn't negate the shit avalanche that has come down this season.
As was mentioned on Fox post game show, it all looks a little Mike Ashley.
That's what I said to him when I first saw him in the bay. Sit down. Talk with us.
Then I offerred him a chance to apologise through the megaphone for the bullshit last 5 years.
Then I told him to **** off.
****ing selfies. Fmd

I think looking at him last night you can see he has a huge ego and is desperate for popularity and positive attention. Basically he just wants to be loved
Time to push his buttons and play on it.
Get his ego to drive the club forward to success

I'm a fan of BK but it wasn't his night last night.
The initial shot from Ibini was very well struck and I certainly wouldn't be getting up BK for parrying the ball back to him as he did well to stop it.
For the first Brosque goal he hesitated to come forward then back tracked and paid the price.
The 2nd Brosque Goal was a wonderful header and in no way BK's fault as he would have barely had time to see the shot let alone save it.
The Stambolziev goal saw BK totally misjudge the weight of the cross putting himself in no mans land for Smeltz to head the ball to a waiting Stambolziev.
I still don't think BK cost the Jets the win though considering that Sydney had nine shots from inside the box and a total of eight on target.
In comparison. The Jets had only three shots on target and the Sydney Keeper conceded three goals. So how shit is the Sydney Keeper ? The Montano goal was easily the worst keeping effort of the evening.
The big problem for the Jets was that Sydney dominated possession and absolutely killed the Jets in the Air [65.5% aerial duels] - as such I wonder why we complain about poor crossing when we rarely win a ball in the air anyway.
Sydney also passed the ball more effectively in our half than we did in theirs so overall deserved to win the game.
The khunt that stepped on Cooper [ Jurman ?] pretty much turned the game around for Sydney. Cooper with a bit of polish is going to be a very good footballer.

That's exactly what it was Furns. A PR campaign. The answers are what we've heard before. Nothing new was said. It's all a little too little too late
Amen to that, one night and a few gestures do not a season make, but yet I'm seeing blokes who have been vile in their vitriol say how great the two are now after speaking to them, and that everyone should give them a chance.
Tinkler would dump us tomorrow in a heartbeat if he could get his price for them, he doesn't give a shit, and this gesture was just an easy way for him to walk off with a shit eating grin knowing how easily the fans were played, just like he's played so many businesses and owed them a motza
this. 5mill & tinks is out OR ffa take it

Interesting comments from Arnold in the post match presser re hoole. Sees him as a no.10 and can't wait to get a hold of him in the offseason and get Andrew Clark to work on his speed and dynamism.
Last night when hoole shifted in to a joint 10 role with burgess really rammed it home for me how much a talent hoole is gonna become in the next few seasons and NOT in newcastle colours.
Muppet should of been playing him there more often this back end of this season and even reverting to the 2 attacking mids. I dare say next season we'll only see one player sitting in midfield and playing more of a 4141 formation.
