Via Facebook rumors that Perth have got rid of Thwaite, Mclaren, Hersi and Vukovic.
Apparently Vukovic is tip to sign with WSW.
Would take Mclaren in a Heartbeat and Hersi at the right price.

Why would any player want to be part of a club with so called fans that hate on someone that has given all they have to the club and the people of this town like BK?
Your attitude to players is something that is unfortunately common in Newcastle football circles. Why on earth would any player want to play for this club when they can go elsewhere for better conditions, better coin, and much better fans?

Not really, because given the lack of resources at all levels in the organisation we are getting what we deserve.
If you look at the facilities and off field personal at the club [or lack of them] it is hard to imagine any player developing to meet their true potential as a player. In the case of BK he's probably received the worst development path of any keeper in the history of the A-League. The club has probably done more damage to him than he has to the club.
I think we need to find the best GK coach / staff we can find to assess Bk and if they think BK can't make the grade then he gets moved to the bench or on. But to call for his replacement without having any GK staff or development program in place we might as well start ordering wooden spoons from now until eternity.
What you do off the field is where it is at if you want to be successful - because without that even the best of players [Griffo, Flores.. and so on] will never be able to demonstrate their talents on the field.

Andrew Hoole is another great example of this.
Andrew Hoole is another great example of this.
Difference is Hoole has still had an upwards slant on his career and established himself at this level even with the shit fight around him
Kanta BK Pepper Chilli Reegz etc have almost went no where since they came into the club.
You can blame the shit coaches shit management etc but it also comes down to the player in question working hard on their game.

i thought Hoole was a way better and more influential player at Magic.
the biggest issue was that we needed good centre mids but refused to put him in his natural spot.
thats bad management from my point of view.
and i don't disagree with BK. he had every chance to move to another club and get away from shit management if he thought it would improve his game. he chose to stay knowing the shitshow around him.

Is that a fact no other club has been interested in him? Also 112 A-League appearances, 124 appearances in total for the club. He can't have just got by on jagging it. He has some strong attributes. He's managed to hold off challenges to the #1 position to all keepers except Covic. Birraz had him for a while in Season 8 and most of 9 but he's back there again.

If it was anyone else it would be called club loyalty....who is to say that there hasnt been interest from elswhere? BK has seen off numerous challengers, immense public criticism, been through all the upheavals and has a champions medal as well.
Add to that the personal hell he is going through now....the guy has to be tough of mind and deserves respect no matter what type of keeper you think he is.

You never hear from any of them again. On another scale Freddy Adu is a great example of talent not being enough - he was touted as "better than Pele at the same age".

Shame, shit bloke but I think he is on par with Eugene for best in the league, plus he's a lot younger.
Wonder if Laurence Thomas is now available. I think he would improve immensely with consistent football and IMO he is already well ahead of BK.
With Birraz not re signing I think getting a proper keeper for the starting spot needs to be a priority. A top keeper can get you 10 plus points a season (Vuka defo did this for Perth last year).

Whether it was KB United, Rosebuds, Breakers or United/Jets, Newcastle's teams throughout the NSL and A League have not represented any particular ethnic group.
Probably the first Australian club to truly reflect the region it represented not based on the ethnic community which founded it.

We had a strong Dutch background early on and by the mid to late 70's [when the NSL commenced] the club was more in line with the English migrants running the club - so to speak. I recall a time there when a few wanted the club name changed to Manchester United given the clubs relative proximity to Manchester Road [ Obviously, it never happened though].

Correct me if I'm wrong but he was born in Greece with Greek/Australian farther, yeah?

Yep, born in Greece to Australian father. His grandfather was one of the co-founders of South Melbourne as well so he has strong roots here. Imagine if he played for the Socceroos?
And I think Koren is still marquee.

C. Cole to WSW breaks down over length of contract offered.
He apparently wanted a 3 year deal, good for him wanting a bit of $$$ security, but silly for a club where the Marquee spot can sometimes make or break your season.
What club would want to be stuck with a mid 30s past his prime striker as your Marquee.

I don't think anyone really thinks Griff will solve the goal scoring problem. I think what people are crying out for is that one of the few true club legends we have offering to play for free means we should investigate that. Obviously we can't pay him nothing but a guy that loves the city, loves what the club WAS and what the club could be is exactly the kind of person we should be looking at for minimum pay. Vietnam international Nguyen Cong Phuong has attracted the interest of Australian clubs Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets with his good performances for the U-23 squad in SEA Games, according to Thanh Nien.
The Hyundai A-League sides are continually looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the opening 2015/16 campaign which will start in early October, and they see the 20-year-old as a valuable addition to their midfield on the long term.
Cong Phuong is a product of the built cooperation academy between Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Vietnamese-based JMG Arsenal and has developed into a key player at the Pleiku giants in the V-League this season.
The midfielder, who has been likened to Barcelona star Lionel Messi because of his tender playing style, has previously been linked with J-League clubs in April but the HAGL’s owner Doan Nguyen Duc was reluctant to sell him halfway through the season

You had me at "tender playing style"
LOL, in all honesty I don't recall ever seeing the term "tender playing style" in describing a player's style. When Messi has the ball at his feet, he is "explosive", yes he probably has a "tender' touch in the way he seemingly has the ball on a string but he is essentially a pocket dynamo in the way he gets at players with speed and quick footwork.
On this young Vietnamese lad, the first question is.....can he handle the physicality of the A League? Would be a total waste as has been proven in the past with good, technical players who unfortunately get pushed off the ball too easily and cannot handle the rigours of what is essentially a quite physical League as compared to a typical Asian League.

Yes, it's FC Midtjylland or something Danish.
They use a moneyball principal for recruitment, are the top side in Denmark, won the league with a mostly young squad last season and have a fantastic youth set up.
Huge move for Mabil, especially if it leads to a move to Brentford in the Championship in the future.

I don't usually like saying this kind of thing but i honestly don't know how he would go in the championship. He isn't overly physical and tends to get pretty revved up when people chop him down. Glad he is going over there though, i know people are pretty split with their opinions on him but i am definitely a fan of his potential.

Yeah, the whole "how would he handle a cold wintery night in Stoke" thing? I agree, to an extent. But someone like Nathan Dyer isn't exactly large in either height (5'5) or weight (57kg) and he has no drama whatsoever being excellent for Swansea in the EPL and the Championship before their promotion.
Think he needs to work on end product AND temperament and he can do whatever he wants.

I can't see him getting Marque wages honestly.
City already have Franjic, WSW have Neville and Victory are chasing a Midfielder to replace Milligan, more than likely a foreigner now.
Whilkshire himself at 33 might not demand good coin, he was one of the best paid Socceroo for at least 5 years at Dynamo so his bank account isn't struggling. His a Wollongong boy so a Sydney club would be likely favorite, could FFA convince him to go an hour further up the F3? I sure hope so his certainly better than Hoffman however I would still prefer Cowburn.
