KEY FACTS:

General

While the Jets haven't beaten City in Melbourne since 2010/11 Season, their last trip to AAMI park produced a win against the Victory.
There has never been a scoreless draw between these teams, and only one of the games has had less than 2 goals.
Melbourne City have scored 9 goals in the last 2 matches against the Jets (2-5 and 0-4)
When leading at half time, the Jets have never lost. However, the Jets haven't scored a first half goal in the last 4 matches against City.
The Jets have won 3 of their last 4 away games.

Players

Lachlan Jackson became the 134th player to make an A-League appearance for the Jets.
Should he play this week, Mark Birrighitti will equal the number of appearances of Ante Covic.
A visa player has scored for the Jets in the last 4 away matches.

Coaches

Scott Miller has equalled the best start to a season by any Jets coach. He is equal with Craig Deans and Gary Van Egmond (v2). A win this weekend will equal the start from 2012/13.

Untrue. I was very pleased with the Scott Miller Orchestra's success against Victory. I love Newy. I love David Carney's lack of pigmentation. I love everything about the Jets ... except the lunatic decision to ditch the emerald and cinnamon.

15 matches played under Gillett. W-D-L of 3-4-8. Issued 33 yellow cards to us, 19 to our opposition.

Haven't had a win under him since March 2012.

Last match he refereed was our Rd 2 clash with Heart last year in which Villa scored.

In the last 5 matches of ours he's refereed, he's given us 13 yellow cards and 1 red while only booking 2 opposition players.

Chuck an improving Leonardo back into that and all of a sudden we look like a really competitive team!

Yep was an interesting change, one that goes against pretty much everything GVE stands for. Putting 3 holding/tackling/passing midfielders in is unseen in australia for a long time! It ****ed them though, city couldn't get on the ball for long enough to get it wide!

This thread is a ****ing awesome read if you start at the start of the game. So many emotions.

Despite being dominated in the first half, City got very lucky with the goals. Birraz had them both covered until the deflections.

Second half (actually include the last 10 of the first half), where did that come from. I don't remember the Jets ever having that sort of fight and spirit, and whats with not running out of legs at 60mins.

We've accumulated a few cards over the first four rounds though, could be a fair whack of suspensions coming up soon.

This team really looks like it had some spirit. The fight shown was amazing, the football we played once in front was un-Newcastle!
Kanta and poljak were brilliant, also gotta give some credit to Watson. People including me have bagged him lately but he played well. He did the very simple things that allowed kanta and poljak to push just a bit higher where we won the ball more.

The spirit in the squad is plain to see though, the smiles and laughing with each other when the final whistle went, millers celebration shows his passion and that much interaction with the fans, even at home it felt like they actually fought for us!
I was pumped last night and I'm still on a high this morning...

OK, so some points of interest.

Miller has equaled the best ever start to a Jets campaign with 9 points from a possible 12. This equals season 8. Get a point or win next week and it's our best ever start.

We have 9 points after 4 games. It took us 17 games to get the same amount of points last year.

We're copping a HEAP of yellow cards, as someone mentioned earlier. 13 in 4 matches. The highest frequency per match in our history. Last night's 6 certainly didn't help.

We're scoring at the rate with did in season 2 - 1.5 goals per match. That's the highest frequency in our history.

We've never come back from being 2 goals behind to win.

Adam Taggart was the last Jets player to score 2 goals in a match

Thomas477

Thought it was the correct decision tbh. Was ball to hand, but his hand was in an unnatural position, and the ar was correct to award it.

Imyourhero
31-10-2015, 10:22 AM
I guess we know the concept of natural positioning of arms in standing but its a different ball game for balance when you're sliding. I think it's pretty hard to execute a sliding challenge/block and keep your arms down. But i guess really that's the risk you take.

I disagree. Every defender knows your running a risk when you defend in the box with your arm away from your body. look at the best defenders, the moment they get into the box they defend with arms behind their back.

comes down to arm being away from body blocking a cross into a dangerous position. Cant believe the fox commentators dont agree.

Firstly I think the ref was late on the call just because he was stunned that a professional footballer could get caught out and embarrassed by the Hoff on the football pitch

Secondly the only time we have come from behind at HT to win besides last night was the day The Puddle got MOM

One thing I noticed about the game was that we didn't use all three subs, by the end of the game we had only subbed on Watson. Found that to be a weird choice, the fact that we didn't even sub on say Radovan in the 93rd just to waste time seemed odd

Big difference however, Stubbins subbed on a defensive player just as the last corner of the game was taken. There were times during our throw ins where I thought surely he'd at least sub on the attacking player in Radovan. It doesn't matter, not saying it did more so just an observation

Didn't see a lot of it live as I was distracted with my Gypo friend.

The dickhead commentators and panel on Foxsports need to open their ****ing eyes.

The First 25 mins was all Heart but reality is they offered very little in the front 3rd. Their two goals came from arsey deflections and other than that my boy Birraz was barely tested.

The fap fest over Heart's performance in the first half was ****ing over the top.

Secondly after going 2-0 down we actually dominated the game from then on.

The last 20 mins of the first half we were the superior side and were very close to getting chances but just lacking the quality final ball. In the second half that came and we scored.

Thirdly I do actually feel sorry for Hoffman. The bloke is much maligned and rightfully so but he gets absolutely **** all assistance from Carney. The contrast in workrate and effective workrate between LeakyG/Alivodic and Carney/Hoffman is ****ing huge

Hoff gets left high and dry far too often by Carney

Fourthly that Mooy bloke is one of the laziest ****ers around. Watched him closely in the second half and he spent half the time jogging and walking when he should have been busted in his arse to win the midfield battle for his side. ****ing pretender

Fifthly It is such a shame that one bloke who has played for us recently and is not at the club anymore is not here. The way Millertime has us set up and going this bloke would be in his elemeñt.

I cant applaud a club that takes 10 years to come back from 0-2 to get a win. We have been unbearably bad for that long that 3 wins 4,5,6,7,8 can undo my disappointment. I dont think any supporter should see this as good.
