No more of this lone striker crap either. Miller needs to roll the dice and at least give the fans a glimmer of hope.

We also have a stellar history of some pretty abysmal performances

Read into that what you will

Hopefully tonight win lose or draw we see 11 blokes run onto the park in blue and gold and rip in for the first 20 mins and have a go and not play like cowards. Have some shots scare our opponent

Get the crowd involved and get into the game.

Not the usual bullshit with the quietly quietly approach which takes us fans out of the game as we get bored watching another insipid heartless performance

Could not give a **** if we lose.

My kids asked Miller to remind Enver what colour shirts we play just before kickoff. He clearly didn't appreciate 4 x 12 year old boys pointing out the obvious.

Trifunovuc useless tonight as was Enver. Thought Cowburn, Kitto really put in. Hoffman good even though he was riding that soft yellow (never dreamed I'd say that). Carney was good in attack. Kanta was quiet until mid second half. Boogaard was very strong. Can't wait for him and Mullen to get back together. Pawilak was busy. Birra was very good. Even came and claimed a cross.

We can't buy a goal at present.

Madness taking off an attacker for a defensive player with 10 to go. Worried about a loss losing him the fans and his job? Courage would have gone for the win.

Stats showed passing accuracy of Jets 80% and Adelaide 83%.

Cringe worthy the amount of turnovers tonight.

What did ever happen to Nicky Carle?

Leonardo was essentially a major component of recruitment and it just appears as though he just hasn't adapted. Good player but can't be missing like he is every two weeks etc.

I felt milos was doing a lot of work! Couple of times he had to drop very deep and then he was required to be creative spark in which he actually delivered to carney for a few passes.

Enver is struggling.

Kitto is in favour but I think that says more about the lack of faith the staff have in cooper than anything else.

Will say it again. This squad is hopelessly unbalanced. Money tied up in certain areas of the pitch.
Do wonder what JP/Miller would have done with last year's squad at their disposal..

Most likely parked the bus and played like cowards

That was a pathetic game last night

Nothing doing all night really for both sides

Took us nearly 30 mins again to have a shot.

Not ****ing good enough

Once again played like cowards thanks to the guidance of our coach.

20 mins to go score 0-0 and we are starting to find some space when attacking the Pissants
Does he alter tactics go two up front and search for the win?? Does he make a positive sub and put Cooper or Pavicevic on??

No he parks the bus in a vain attempt to cost us the win by bringing Watson on to negate our attacking threat and hopefully cost us a goal.

Thank god Birraz was there to save the day last night.

Miller being a good coach is an illusion

For someone who was apparently hand-picked by Ange, Miller appears to be nothing like Ange in the way he sets his team up to play.

Whether it was the Roar, Victory or now the Socceroos Ange's teams take the game to the opposition and play without fear. I remember Ange a few years back blasting his team (Roar) when in one game he accused them of taking the easy or cowards option and just hoofing it, which was totally against his principles and the way he wanted his team to play.

I was prepared to give Miller the benefit of the doubt for the first 2 months but I think Member has hit the nail on the head here...20 minutes to go and locked at 0-0 and he puts on a Holding Midfielder. Meanwhile young, attacking players Cooper and Pavicevic itching to get out there and get at the opposition are left to rot on the bench....would Ange have done this?.....not in a milllion years!!!

Unfair comparison. Ange has always been in charge of teams with plenty of dollars, quality facilities, and the best personnel available.
Miller has been handed a side with no money, average facilities, and whatever personnel they could muster up at the time.

Ange has nearly always benefitted from coaching teams with more natural talent than their opposition.
The time he was in charge of a team that were not blessed with the best available players [2007 FIFA u20 World Cup] he failed to qualify.

I haven't given up on Miller yet. Sure I'm disappointed in how timid we have become but maybe our team just isn't up to the job.

Ange hand picked a bunch of nobodies as he culled the dead wood from the Roar.

He turned them into an incredibly attacking side who won the comp 2 years on the trot setting a 30 odd game invincible run

He done this whilst the FFA run the Roar and without marquee wages.

To say he has had talented sides is wrong. He just gets performance out of his players.

What are you talking about ? In his first season at Brisbane Postecoglou finished 2nd last.

They then sold off Zullo, Oar, et al for a shit load of money and probably used that money to fund the arrival of Paartalu, Broich, Berish, and Theoklitos. ... to name a few.

So the facts are: Failed big time when he didn't have the best team.

Miller would not get enough money for a ****ing McDonalds Happy Meal if he sold all our players let alone enough to buy players from the 2nd tier of German football.

Ange with Brisbane had free reign, he had 6-9 months to cut the dead wood and scout players.

reading the 10 year history of the a league book, they got broich on lifestyle as compared to money (I believe they got him on wages 3-5 times less then what he was on in Germany) and it took months to convince him to come, and they got barbarouses, portaloo, theo on absolutely nothing money along with matt smith and steffanouto from NQF who he would have got both cheap.

Miller had 14-15 players already signed up, with 70% salary cap chewed up and we are only spending 85% of the cap (or whatever the minimum cap spend is).

ok he's foreigners maybe haven't worked to be absolutely successful, but you can say this about milos, he has scored more goals then all the other stinking foreigners we ever brought.

Our biggest problem and it could take 2-3 years to fix is attracting quality HAL players to come here, lifestyle is not really a sell for current HAL players. The ones we signed in the off season, Poljak & labi wanted to be cut by WSW & Watson was out of contract.

the quality players who were out off contract, gamerio, mcclaren, Nichols, all went to other clubs.

The foreigners are such hit and miss but if you can get good Aussie Hal players it can kinda make up for it i.e. WSW and that donkey striker. Nichols and Vidosic are just towelling it up instead.

We got boogard because he wanted to come home and by reports paid overs for him, but he is an important player.

Miller imo deserves more time as compared to stubbins who got free reign, signed quality players; flores, griff, steele and didn't use them probably and then made even further stupid mistakes by replacing them with players not up to HAL standard on 2 year deals.

Haha, if you all had tha internetz back then you'd be crying about Ange getting rid of Socceroo legends and dead let Charlie Miller for unknowns like Broich and Berisha.
Yes I know Broich was a prodigy but at the time of signing for the Roar he didn't even like playing football.
Ange made it fun for him again and the rest is history.

Miller has done nothing for these blokes except throw them under the bus (which he just finished making them park).

ken oath you would have

he didn't make it to the youth world cup in Oceania as his last job and let Craig Moore go.

Brisbane gave Ange way more time then what some are giving miller.

Whats millers excuse???

You are spot on Member!

Yes, with Victory Ange pretty much walked into a good set-up but Roar was a club in transition when he took over from Farina. He made a big call to get rid of some old heads like Moore, Tiatto and Miller, took a punt with a couple of no-name imports in Broich and Berisha and exposed young players like Franjic, Oar and Barbarouses to the A League....it was pretty much all his making, hardly having the "best personnel available".
Somehow there seems to be this myth being peddled that when FFA was in charge of Roar they got Broich and Berisha as Marquees....this is a whole lot of BS.
Broich took a big pay-cut from 2nd tier Bundesliga to come to the A League because he wanted a fresh start and to experience a different lifestyle. Reinaldo was actually the Marquee at the time and they managed to just squeeze Broich in under the salary cap, albeit as the 2nd highest player in the club. After a season or two they put him into the marquee position but by then the Bakries were the owners. As for Berisha, once his contract ran out, Victory came calling with the big marquee $$$ and Roar just could not match it.

Brisbane raised well over a million dollars with the sale of Oar, Zullo, et al. Without that extra injection of money Ange would have been dead in the water. [It gave him options both with players and staff / equipment that clubs such as the Jets simply do not have]
Not doubting his ability as a coach but with the Brisbane team he acquired he did run 2nd last.
The success didn't come until after he received that massive cash injection and lucked out on Berisha and Broich.
He also had the benefit of some good youth that Farina developed.

Berisha arrived after Brisbane were already Champions. Don't believe me then Google it. He never played in the Miracle of Brisbane
So exactly why people persist in claiming he was essential in Ange making Roar good is ridiculous.
He just made them better with his arrival

He scouted and signed Broich which is what any competent manager dies when signing foreigners unlike our club who seem to have NFI

Rado vidosic was responsible for broich or rather Dario was as he was teammates with broich at the time and told his father of broich's desire to get out of German football and planted the thought of coming to Australia.
Just clarifying that. Carry on with the argument.

yeah but lets not pretend that Broich was the only resume that came across Rado's desk. he was no sure thing. nor is there a guarantee he would he have been a sure thing if he was signed by any of the other A-League clubs.

Recently read the book on the first 10 years of the A League, there is a few pages about Ange and the Roar revolution. Also mentions that former Socceroo Paul Agostino recommended Broich to Ange.
Some very interesting first-hand insights into not only the A League but the power struggles behind the scenes. One can see how bad decisions made by FFA over the years have contributed to the HAL today 11 seasons on still only being a 10 team comp and many clubs still struggling.
Highly recommended reading!

Funny that, pretty sure I saw an interview with Dario where he explained how he was sitting in the sheds with broich after a game or training and broich said how he wanted something different and Dario suggested the a-league and got in touch with rado about it.

Of course both likely scenarios and work easily with one another as agostino very familiar and respected in parts of germany

I wish we had a former player such as James holland or tags that could unearth a gem for us.

The reality is, regardless of his players, Ange developed a well rehearsed style of play that worked. The Roar were like the Melbourne Storm, another chess like team, in their methodical preciseness when it came to executing their plays. Incredibly well coached and completely at a different level to other sides of the era. The movement off the ball, decoys, opening up of space in and around the box etc were exceptional. Ange is streets ahead of these other hacks.

man you guys out there acting like Ange was lucky to get Roar and the Socceroos when he did.

To me he was lucky in that both were under achiveving at the time.
Roar have always played good football but never had the mettle to compete until Ange changed that

The Socceroos job came up after two 6-0 losses and a limp WCQ campaign with a bunch of aging stars
Ange has come in and so far has put in a respectable effort in Brazil won an Asian Cup and has us looking good for Russia
All the while he has developed generation next to take over from Timmy Bresciano Schwarzer and co

To my way of thinking the jobs came at a good time for Ange as the burden of expectations was not high.

Now contrast that with Man U after Fergie. Moyes was always pushing shit up a hill to match Fergie same with LVG

Now lets get back to Millertime.
Inherits a shit side at the bottom of table and a club in complete disarray. The FFA have stabilised the club off the pitch and we have lost the drama of recent times at the club.
The fans expectations are low with winning trophies and lots of games not required.

What does he do??

Play the most boring negative style he can find and refuse t play positively for the fans.
Expectation is low the least he can do is try and entertain us when we lose not bore us shitless and frustrate the **** out of us before losing

Bloke got a HAL job at an opportune time and has pissed the luxury of any pressure and goodwill away by being negative

So you think losing by a few goals each week (say 4-2, 3-1 for example) and a wooden spoon will help with the stability moving forward? This in a team which is currently stronger at the other end of the park??

It's amazing how many of you think that by trying to score more goals we are automatically going to lose by more than we already are. Yet you seem comfortable losing the way we currently are.

Also, our 'strongest' part of the park is the line between the sticks that that one bloke is protecting because without him it would be way more embarrassing than it already is.

Can someone of the sheep elaborate why they are comfortable losing games in the manner we are.???

Quite frankly I can take losing games I want to walk away happy knowing they had a ****ing go

At the moment I ain't seeing it when we play a 10 men defensive line and refuse to try and attack

I think we just want to be competitive in as many games as possible...despite being so cagey tactically we've only lost by 2 or more goals twice this season with Miller at the helm.

With the caveat of the subs (where we could be more positive, yet bound by limited options) he seems to be doing a good job with the squad at hand - particularly hamstrung with options in the attacking third.

and here i was thinking those fireworks the other night were for New Years.
They were obviously Jets fans celebrating not getting flogged and being so 'cagey' they refuse to try and score in order to mess with the oppositions head.
