legitimately this game will define whether we are contenders or pretenders.

Exactly..
Last week got me in the feels, I didn't care if we made the finals so long as we beat the gypos (and in round 27).. Anything more is a bonus..
All of those horrible stats aside, obviously this game is HUGE when it comes to the makeup of the top 6..
To be honest, when it comes to table standings, the only thing better than us making the finals, is for Sydney to continue to choke and then not make them..

I think when our season is over in terms of finals we should look to next year straight away. By now you'd think the staff would have a relatively good idea of who's staying and going. We should look to play our core group who will be here next year and develop some youngsters to add to our squad depth. May as well use no relegation to our advantage and especially if we aren't getting the spoon.

This is probably a bigger test than any, to get something out of a match in the west. Miller and the boys could really impress everyone if they can pull off a solid showing and snatch a point or three - three and I think most of us would be almost as happy as a win over the scum, would be a massive effort

6 wins from 31 against Perth. That's a simply deplorable record, virtually a win every second season against a club which have probably had 3 good seasons since the A League began.
We learn how to defeat Perth and SFC we will become regulars in the Finals series....the equation is that simple.
Say if we had 6 points out of a possible 12 to date against these two sides....instead of zero, hypothetically we would have 32 points, equal with City in fourth.
SFC would have 27 points
Perth would have 25 points

On the plus side, I reckon Leonardo has done enough to earn promotion into Sydney's starting 11 next season. He would have had a bunch more assists if we had any speed up front to run off him.

Good news is we have put our league to FIFA to trial out referrals on penalty calls. That would have helped us for once, instead of giving the refs a chance to remember who they called the penalty for and quickly take it away in case their bosses get cranky at them..

Look where doing just that got Nordstrand. If he doesn't hold onto the Perth shirt the referee doesn't reverse his decision. I don't think Nordstrand was pulling the shirt and it was a poor call but it just gives the opportunity for the foul against you.

It's no excuse but the draw is seriously flawed.

We play FC 3 times in the first half of the season when they are in good form but don't get to play Perth when they were honking. Instead we get perth at the end of the season when they are up in the top two or three for quality at the moment. We still have to play them again!

Having a look at the stats last night, everything was very even. Passes, possession, shots (except we had 0 on target), fouls. On the surface it looks like Perth created more clear cut chances and took them but certainly didn't run over us.

The most concerning thing for me was the body language. Yes it was hot. Yes it was late. But a 5pm kick off over there is about as good as you're going to get in Perth in terms of body clock. But we were walking. The pressure wasn't there. There was some stupid turnovers.

We were beaten by a better team but I agree with whoever said we have taken 0 points from Perth and Sydney and that we need to do that otherwise we won't challenge for the Top 6. As for playing Sydney while in form and then Perth while in form, yes the draw is unfortunate. Ridiculous even. But to know when each team would be in form is perhaps a stretch to me.

2 more points I want to make out of Monday night game:
1. Super Ugar didn't have his best game....he needs to be consistent and I think he was well aware after full time of his less than impressive performance.... In saying that he gave us 3 points v gypos but can't rest on his previous week Glory .... Glory lol....
2. Could not believe how at least 20 times Castro is on the left wing, glory got the ball and Hoffman is 30 meters away from him in central defence.... Hence easy option for glory to give the ball to Castro then Hoffman closes him down... But why not getting closer to Castro so he can't receive the ball????..... And if we need more numbers in central defence should be super Ugar or poljack job....
