Reckon we won't lose this one. Good chance to get 3 points in my opinion.
Victory playing a lot of football recently and not much of it is quality.
AAMI park is suddenly looking really ordinary. Anyone else notice this?

As it is, the overall performance of the club is tracking to be the third worst in our history in front of only last season and the other wooden spoon season. Even if we get a win it will still be our third worst. The season will be about on par if we can get past 31.
As a matter of interest, this time last year we had 14 points.

Of course that right.
Besides the spoons we are either in the finals or finish 7th
Finishing 9th will be a new first for us

If we lose that's going to make it very difficult for Sydney FC to make the top six.
Watson has to start so we don't do anything stupid and actually win this game.

So what lineup are people sending out? I've put my cards on the table earlier in the week but I think I will change a bit and just replace Alivodic with Brennan. Let's see if he's got something about him.
One player I have noticed drop from first team involvement is Braedyn Crowley. We haven't seen him since the 6-1 thumping to Perth when he got 13 minutes off the bench replacing Dave Carney is his last match. I guess not to mention Andrew Pawiak who was on the bench a few times as well.

In a way it would be good to see the likes of Brennan or Lundy get a run but on the other hand it would be unfair to throw them into the lions den right at the arse end of the season and expecting too much from them when Brennan has not played all season and Lundy has not figured since round 2. Both would have no match fitness as the Youth finished couple of months ago. Maybe give one of them 20min off the bench but this late in the season considering everything, it would be a shite call from Miller to start them. Would be almost like setting them up to fail.

Am I the only bloke not understanding the total fap fest for Andy Brennan? Can someone explain why everyone wants him in? The bloke got signed from the state league and looked ok on youtube against amateur defending? He was also signed by Phil Stubbins. From all reports he's been average and injured in the NPL. Surely Miller has seen the kid train all year and has come to the conclusion he's shit.. Why does he always seem to get special mention above all other youth players??

For me he's the unknown prospect. He struggled to adapt to the physical (i.e. muscular) demands of the daily training which set him back.
we've given so many people a go, why not him? But your though about Miller seeing him in training has crossed my mind as well and must be the reason he isn't getting a run - or there are others better.

If Pacivevic is better than him (hence making the bench regularly) then Brennan must be shit

Screams of "let's nick a point", not what a team with finals aspirations would believe.

I'm going to say that was a massive effort yesterday. The boys ran and defended so well. The only shot Birighitti faced was the Berisha goal. Berisha was the only front line player credited with a shot.
Enver really should have buried that chance in the second half. It was great work from Ugarkovic to win it back and Enver had done the hard work. Such a shame.
Victory started very quickly but we grew into the game and were good for our goal. It's just a shame that the game was effectively stopped as a contest with Mullen's dismissal. I was surprised that Victory seemed to be persistently fouling us and finally received punishment in the second half but I felt it took too long.
I'm interested in the opinion of a referee (current or ex) on both cards. I thought the first was very harsh. The second beat the player to the ball and won it and the opposition player ran into him. If he's on his feet and they collide - is Mullen sent off?

The bit that upset me most with Mullens second yellow is Beath seen it and let it go.
If it was serious enough to warrant a yellow and a send off then why didn't Victree get a free kick??
Even if he was playing advantage it went out straight away and we got a goal kick.
After Mullen walked and the stoppage in the game the game restarted with Birraz taken a goal kick
Why??
There was no advantage to Victree and it was almost like spite from the ref with an agenda

First one was very soft, but still a yellow.
Second was a definite yellow card. He's been "careless &/or reckless" while making the tackle. It doesn't matter if he gets the ball.
And for what it's worth, it was a pretty good advantage from Beathy to let play go on & come back to give the card.

I'd be fine with that too, but only if they were applied consistently. that wasn't even the worst tackle of the game. we get one game where bone crunching tackles from behind are ok (or maybe rugby tackles if you are the wanderers keeper), and a game like this where (only some of the) challenges are deemed too reckless even though there is no contact, studs aren't showing and the "fouled" player barely needs to take evasive action.

Neither cards were yellows. Neither were fouls let alone cards. You see people going in studs up week in week out. Mullen came in from the front, won the ball, his toes are pointing down, what else would they like him to do?
Absolutely nothing wrong with the tackle.

Id argue it wasn't even a tackle, the victree player didn't have the ball. it was a loose ball that mullen was first too

22-03-2016, 10:23 AM
There was no contact for me, he was first to the ball and then pulled his legs out to avoid contact. No card was warranted.
If it was warranted and reckless, then it was no different to the Victory keeper rushing out on Ugarkovic. If he hadn't gone the high jump to go over the top, that could have been nasty. If Mullen was reckless then so was the Victory keeper.

Id argue it wasn't even a tackle, the victree player didn't have the ball. it was a loose ball that mullen was first too
There was no contact for me, he was first to the ball and then pulled his legs out to avoid contact. No card was warranted.
If it was warranted and reckless, then it was no different to the Victory keeper rushing out on Ugarkovic. If he hadn't gone the high jump to go over the top, that could have been nasty. If Mullen was reckless then so was the Victory keeper.
shut down the internet, their points cannot be argued with.

If the current rules now say that it was second yellow then so be it.
Just shows how soft we are becoming....what guys like Lorimer, Stielike, Allardyce and Gentile must think watching todays fairies.
Its not the players, its the law makers.
