Jets Youth to challenge Chinese team next Friday

An international youth football fixture will take place in Broadmeadow next week when Clayton Zane’s Newcastle Jets Youth side challenge China’s Shandong Luneng Taishan’s U19 outfit.

Shandong’s first team have been in Australia twice in 2016 for games against Adelaide United and Sydney FC in the AFC Champions League, however now Newcastle’s National Premier League (NPL) side will have the opportunity to test themselves against some of the Chinese Super League club’s best youngsters.

The international youth friendly will take place on Friday 17 June 2016 at Magic Park, Broadmeadow. Kick-off is at 6:00pm and admission is free.

Newcastle Jets Youth Head Coach Zane said the opportunity to take on Shandong’s U19 squad represents a great opportunity for his charges to measure themselves against some of China’s best youth players.

“We are endeavouring to provide our youth squad with a 50 game season to assist with their development however rarely do we have the chance to play against a team of this standing or a side from a nation separate from our own,” Zane said.

“This will be a fantastic test for the boys. Shandong are an unknown quantity for us, and we naturally seek to prepare our players heading into each match with information about our opponents. In this instance we don’t know what to expect, so it will be a good challenge for us to adapt and react throughout the game.”

“Hopefully Jets Members and fans take advantage of the free admission next Friday night to support our youth team and watch a unique match in Newcastle’s football history,” he said.

Shandong Luneng Taishan come from from the city of Jinan, which is the capital of the Shandong province. The club’s first team has won the Chinese Super League (CSL) three times in its history, while its reserve team - whom many of their under 19 players graduate to - remarkably won the CSL Reserve League six times in a row between 2010 and 2015. The club has participated in the CSL every season since 2004.

Jets Youth are not currently scheduled to play NPL football next weekend due to Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 June being dedicated to the final phases of Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 Qualifying in the Northern New South Wales Member Federation. Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 Qualifying fixtures will be played next weekend at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility (LMRFF) in Speers Point.

Jets Youth’s final fixture prior to their clash with Shandong’s U19s will take place this Saturday 11 June when the team travels to the Coalfields to challenge Weston Workers Bears FC at Rockwell Automation Park. Kick-off on Saturday is at 2:30pm with lower grades played beforehand.

Will beat them by massive margin and Bozza will make comment that if Chinese factory workers argue for better pay in the future, we should point to the result to tell them why they don't deserve it.

Is anyone seeing the whole were linked and maybe being bought by a Chinese owner and now our youth team is playing a Chinese youth team. The coincidences are strong with this one

I suppose we be able to get a gauge on how far the Matilda's are behind Chinese kids now as well as Aussie kids

For anyone not watching already.... http://www.newcastlejets.com.au/article/live-stream-jets-youth-vs-shandong-luneng-taishan-u19/m1u1rvbr5mif19ee96nclrjmu

We're 4-0 up after 45, playing 3 30 minute thirds. Waller was impressive before he was subbed and De Godoy has been great too.

So with the score finishing 5-0 I take a couple of points that need noting from this

Our new overlord better not drop a pile of Chinese players on us. They are worse than we already have

The Chinese kids are still better than the Matilda's

We only beat them 5-0 but did the Matildas 7-0. Do you need me to further elaborate on Member logic?

Perhaps if the Chinese team played our 15s team it may be a fairer comparison.

Yep

So the bloke who is the Matilda's coach offers up a pile of excuses and deflections for his failings??
Typical FFA Dutch Methodology Frauds.

As soon as their system fails offer up every excuse under the sun for failure but never ever take responsibility

This is legitimately becoming the new worst topic on the forum. I reckon that if you do believe all the crap about the matildas result vs the U15s then you are just an angry arm chair coach with no actual perspective of football outside of that big shiny box your yelling and throwing fistsful of twisties at. You are probably also the same people that think the HAL would compete in Europe and that the Socceroos have a shot at winning a world cup in the next 10 years. I wish that i could view the world like some of you do but i can't.

We really need to be using this idiotic fact less rage more purposefully. Can somone please bring back the Birraz vs BK thread. It all made more sense in there.:soapbox:

The Matildas are a good measuring stick i think to rate ability between sides

Can't wait to we can compare teams in the Olympics to the EJ U 15s so we can work out how many goals better they are than the gold medallists in Rio

I think you have the problem here.

Every team cops crap including the EJ's. If you want gender equality any team should get a serve when they deserve it. but moving on im over it too. Apparently they are still quality in the world of womens football. Not sure if we have to also watch the mens netball to prevent PC/gender rage.

Nice work Turbo. Had a bit of a watch of the first half, we hassled them really well. They made a good point on the commentary that these young jets were used to playing against men every weekend whereas the Shandong youths play against other kids their age. Jets boys played pretty well tho.
