yet we had E&C last season....

And we had black and white two seasons before. It's a change.

As wolfman said - kits were decided before Tinkler was sent packing. Club have said on numerous occasions members will get to vote on next years. We'll be holding them to that

Jeterpool

I am aware that has been said in the past by the FFA Overlords but lets face facts it is a cop out and full of complete shit and just used to fob the fans off.

They used that excuse 4 months ago.

How long does it seriously take to organise a kit???

If they can't get a kit designed and done within 4 months then they need to have a serious look at the organisation they are dealing with cause it ain't rocket science

We saw them at the Members Committee meeting back in maybe March or April which was when they had to be submitted to BLK so production could be started so we didn't have an E&C V1 debacle like a few Christmas' ago.

Don't care who makes the kits, just score goals and win football games and .....get Pico to design the ****ing things

Yep. Agree. It's been mentioned on here and the Sub-committee keep pushing to have a fan designed kit.

The club are open to this.

Move away from BLK and we'd have a better set of templates to choose from

The whole concept of sublimated shirt design is the fact that you don't need to conform to a template.

Can anyone recall such a hype and launch around a season's playing strip as we have seen this year? I don't recall as much hype and build up personally.

Great to see another major sponsor for the club. Again, this is the best position in terms of sponsors on board we have ever had.

Now we need to deliver on the field, as others have said

Not just another sponsor, another sponsor firmly in the Newcastle community albeit with a now national presence. FFA making good on its promise to strength community ties. Just have to hope whoever comes in to take the reigns continues that.

When I lived in the UK I recall with Cardiff City they said when they decided to change to Adidas it was a 12 month process in getting the kits, designed, agreed, developed, approved and manufactured ready for sale in the club store. And that is with a much bigger company than BLK and Cardiff City are a much bigger club than the Jets so I think your 4 months rant may be a bit over the top.

CQP and Hunter Ports have disappeared too.

And it's just occurred to me, that these two shirt sponsors nearly take us back to the BHP Newcastle Breakers days!

We are now the BHIP Newcastle United Jets.

Like FFS You going out on the town trying to look good you don't where pants the same colour as your shirt do you???

That's a recipe for failure. It's never about looking good it's about convincing the women you don't give a shit.

If looking good was part of the equation I'd still be looking for my first root.

There was something that had been bugging me all afternoon about this picture and I couldn't work out what it was. Now realised that the problem I first thought of isn't it.

That first problem was that Labinot has his shirt on which mean he hasn't scored.
More off putting though is Enver looking normal with his shirt untucked.

Okay the kits are new and refreshing, white it a bit uninspiring for an away kit but it has a good style about it with the trim. The gold for me is a bit of a let down as it just looks a dull gold (maybe it was the lighting) as compared to the gold from the first 6 seasons which seemed to have a bit of glitter to it.
Anyway it is what it is, they are the colours the team is wearing for this season, for me the bigger priority is the players underneath those shirts. Will they play with pride and passion for the club...for the fans...for the shirt?

Yes, saw the segment of the launch on NBN and the gold strip actually looked better then it does on the pictures from the website/internet.
I always thought that back when we were wearing gold that it looked better at night under lights then in daylight.

Im a massive fan of the away kit. Ive always been a fan of teams having a majority white strip as either an away or alternative kit. really impressed that a few of the aleague clubs have it as an option this year and that a number have a third option. finally we might actually have a season without colour clashes.

Big fan of the blue and white kits
Im not very impressed with the gold kit tho. looks a bit bland.

Without sponsors or name and number they'd look pretty clean, but you're right the "jets" up the top crowds things on a fully replicated kit.

No one complained about this last year when our away kit was green even though we never clashed... why now?

I think more often than not in the 10 years of the A-League the away team has worn an away kit rather than their home one which doesnt clash either.

Plus opportunity to sell more shirts... pretty logical really!

Biggest mistake of the 15/16 kits is the one whole solid colour in every design.

Walking down memory lane yesterday made me realise how good the GF kit actually was.

Put the current white jersey with the gold shorts and white socks and you have a winner.

Not quite sure why I bothered, but responded to one of those BLK emails re 'Christmas in July' or whatever, bought about $200 worth of Jets gear 26 July before the sale ended (wanted a couple small jerseys for the little nephews, jacket for one of the older ones, hoodie for myself etc), got the PayPal confirmation email and confirmation email from BLK, all good. However, noticed a week later nothing came off my card or out of my account, so went into PayPal, no order there anymore - BLK site still shows the order, but I suspect those assholes have deleted it through PayPal because of the previous disputes I've had with them not delivering goods order - when the f'uck are we getting rid of those khunts??? how f'ucking useless are they :soapbox:

BLK wouldn't be dictating the colour combo, they couldn't care less what shades of blue or red or green or purple, this falls director at the club's feet, they keep on giving the kits the go ahead, are they all blind or something? Not sure why I'm surprised these days looking at the kits we have had recently they have been average at best.

If Lee was smart he'd bring back easily the greatest kit combo we have had with an emerald and cinnamon third kit.

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTh01cARp4O4IlLgC6YwXw0nUIBYyTQi 1wtR9RYB_qn-kCcJ85CUknLq7iq

So much for having a fan designed kit too, that disappeared quicker than our new found owners stability and ambition.

It's not like it's that hard either, use a couple of nice contrasting colours, hell the away kit would probably look good with dark navy shorts, white socks with gold lettering and switching the side panels to a crimson red and the top blue to navy to match the shorts, would make the gold pop a lot more than having the royal blue... but that's just my opinion

If Lee was smart he'd bring back easily the greatest kit combo we have had with an emerald and cinnamon third kit.

Just FYI I've brought the gmfan designed kit up every committee member meeting for I'd say the last year+ . With the changes in marketing and members managers at the club the whole context aroynd idea got lost or skewed and I've made it crystal clear what the intent of the point was.
I'll.continue to push it while I'm there

def our best ever home strip, not 100% sure on the away strip, was good but I kinda thought it looked a bit like a polo or tee being so dominant navy blue, can't recall I ever actually bought one (def had two of the home strips, probably hiding in a draw somewhere these days)

Why would we design that and wear it (just in general its terrible) against Sydney, have the decision makers never seen the types of kits and colours sydney typically have.

Ugghhh you can pay tribute to an organisation without having to simply copy and past, for example you could look to utilise the various crests and insignias for the squadrons and use those designs, you could incorporate a unique design that lists all active personnel, you could do so many interesting things that could be meaningful, especially if you don't intend on selling large volumes of the kit. But yet again this club take the easy way out, I'm surprised they don't just forfeit every week.

Holy shit that looks nice.

For those saying it needs gold. Could give it a gold trim on the sleeves, or between the red/blue but I think this is great. A good way to slowly migrate away from hardcore red/blue stripes of the Knights/Tinkler and into something of our own.

Far out, and they're going to get some random to design up some kits and probably get the lady at the front office to pick between two options and it be a total fxxxing disaster of a design too.

Was stated that Puma was supplying kits and gear only. Then went with a Chinese mob who was offering a bunch of cash too. That fell through for unknown reasons. Then this Aussie mob offered cash and gear.

I still have my Jets Reebok Jacket from season one or two - why did the club ever stop using that gear ? it was brilliant.

The whole league went with Reebok for those first couple of years.

Adidas bought out Reebok in 2006 and then clubs were given freedom to find alternatives. Some "stayed" with Adidas/Reebok, others found deals elsewhere.

I did not know that about Reebok. I used to buy Reeboks when they were made in England and Nike when they were US made - much better than the asian made shit of today which doesn't last and is more about fashion than purpose.

We did get to vote on the kit when E&C came in, remember.

True

Which further begs the question why we have gone away from e&c

worst thing is that usually the kit suppliers bid for the honour right?

if they were the highest paying supplier that is an embarrassment.

Lawrie talks all about the process and bidders on Jetstream pod. Was all set to sign with an unknown Chinese kit supplier. All about the cash by the sounds of it.

Confirmed in the herald. Apparently John Kosmina is the National Sales manager.

http://www.theherald.com.au/story/4701184/jets-change-kit-supplier/?cs=306

The section on sponsorship though is even more worrying:

LOOKING FOR SPONSORS
Meanwhile, Jets chief executive Lawrie McKinna said the club was struggling to attract major sponsors, partly because Chinese owner Martin Lee was perceived as someone who could afford to bankroll the team on his own.
“That’s a bit of it, yes,” McKinna told the Newcastle Herald. “Exactly that, which is really unusual because this is when we need people to help so we’re not just relying on a rich owner to keep propping up the club.
“You’ve got some people who might go, ‘Oh, Martin’s there, we don’t need to get involved with the club, but that’s not how it works.’”
The Herald reported last week that Lee had lost about $3 million on the club in his first year as owner, bringing his total outlay to more than $8 million after paying the FFA about $5.5 million for the franchise 12 months ago.
“The more successful we are on the field, the more members, the more people through the gates, and then when we start selling a couple of players, then all of a sudden quite quickly you can actually cut that loss down and then get it to a sustainable loss where you hopefully break even,” McKinna said.
“He’s never wanted to make money. His long-term goal is to break even. His long-term goal is to build up the team, spend more money on the team, make the team competitive, but it’s not to make money.
“It’s to break even and build up his football business around the world.”
McKinna said an expected funding increase from the FFA this year would make little difference to the club’s bottom line as the salary cap would also rise.

Are we wearing emerald and cinnamon this year?

Do Ledman Group teams tend to wear the same colour (e.g. red, like most Chinese teams)?

I'm anticipating we'll be wearing netball tops this year, anything more sophisticated than that will be a bonus, let alone choice of colours...

Song Jin-hyung is off contract at the end of June.

Make the call Griffo and bring him back home to Newcastle.

On a side note, how much more polished were our old Reebok kits, classic simple football kit designs, signature colours helping create a unique "Jets" identity and Reebok at least had the ability to know what shades of colours work well without attempting to sear people's eyes!

Also bring him home Griff!

Blame the club, not the kit supplier, for going that ugly royal blue with the gold nowadays. The club are the ones whom demand it's the colours used in the logo

I remember we used to have a bloke on the foz who did better kit designs than anyone at the club or suppliers did. Wish he would come back and post some fresh Jets ones, maybe even a rebranding to fill the off season.
