TALKING POINTS:
General
The last time the Jets placed City in Melbourne, they had their famous 3-2 come from behind win.
There has never been a scoreless draw between these two teams, and only one match where only 1 goal was scored.
The average goals per match in this fixture is over 3.
Only one Jets coach has lost their first match against City - Gary van Egmond
The Jets have a W-D-L record on a Thursday night of 2-1-2.
Players
Jason Hoffman has been booked in the last 3 matches against Melbourne Heart
Bruno Fornaroli and Aaron Mooy both scored 3 goals against the Jets last year, however were outscored by Milos Trifunovic with 4.
A player has scored a double in 4 of the last 5 fixutes between these teams.
Newcastle Jets
Newcastle have won only twice against City in Melbourne.
Every time Newcastle have lead at half time, they have gone on to claim all 3 points.
The Jets have a poor record after playing the Phoenix away from home, winning 2 while drawing 5 and losing 6.
The Jets have travelled to Melboune the round following a trip to Wellington on 4 occasions and have lost every time.
Melbourne City
City have scored 4 or more goals against the Jets 3 times in the last 2 seasons.

Considering we like going down 2-0 in the first half, this is set up beautifully. As long as Trif gets his two goals...

why the hell are we playing on a Thursday night?
Easy answer. To maximise the chance of Melbourne winning. Silly question. Surely you know by now that the teams from Melbourne and Sydney must be given every advantage so we can have a Sydney or Melbourne final.

Are city going to play Yoshi to replace Bratten?
Im still furious the little c"nt snobbed us, we couldve used him last week instead of hoolahoop on the wing falling over all the time.
442 with Coco Pops & Mortigol up front.
The pommy midget & polevault in the middle.
Yoshi to run the flanks as he showed the ground he can cover while looking for a team.
Otherwise devante covic & scHoolies on the touchlines.
Were farked at the back regardless. Captain fantastic is top goalscorrer, so doesnt defend anymore cos hes a striker now.
Id like to have a beer with duncan. And teach him how to catch a ball over head height.
Ive imported better catchers hidden inside lamps. Who knows where jack is hiding his ability.

So Jones starts with Plan A and leaves everything setup as per Miller and we start the season reasonably well. Now he seems to be trying too hard to make it known this is his team, his formation, his tactics, his team selections etc... Mark - just go back to Plan A if you want to keep your job.

Duncan; Hoffman, Boogz, Koutrumbis, Vujica; Nabbout, Brown, Poljak, Hoole; Clut, Kokko.
Should be the line up
Any injury concerns should stay home. Not worth the risk on this loss. When a full squad returns we'll go ok

On a dollar for dollar basis Melb City are the worst performing team in the competition. With all that money comes expectation and a lot of pressure - and they are not even close to meeting expectation.
Was listening to the radio on the way to work today, I know I shouldn't be surprised by it, but Craig Hamilton was on there attempting to talk about the Jets..
Pretty much spent 5 mins saying we will lose by 3, how Hoole has been the outstanding performer, how Lab is a proven goalscorer.. The bloke has no idea..

When a leaguey tries to give an appraisal on football I always remember the bad times...
In 1983 the glamorous three-match series against England went on Channel 7, Rex Mossop did the commentary and, off air, was heard to comment to Johnny Warren that "if this dull game ever takes off in Australia I will bare my arse in Martin Place".

What's Piddo doing this time of year? Back from his knee injury. Serious though, need a CB signing now as Boogs looks to be at least a medium term injury on first look. Hoping it's not ACL or anything.

love these Thursday games
Love the game plan to let City cross as much as they want and put no pressure on their wingers, despite City having the best striker in the comp, plus the greatest header of the ball in Australian history, and us having a pre-pubescent teenager in the middle.

I thought we played ok today. No idea why every jets player refuses to look before they pass ffs. Also stevie U (**** this ug business) needs to be first one picked every week. He is too good for the aleague let alone the jets and we need to use him why we can.
Also sad to say poijak has become a liability atm and Hoole with his millon touches before passing and his abysmal first touch needs a spell on the bench
Not sure what game you were watching the 3 passes we strung together was involving ones where the keeper got the ball. Melbourne city werent at their best, otherwise we would have been pulled apart. Boogard is terrible at the back young koutrombis did a better job of marking fornaroli than his more experienced leader. Hoole is scared to beat his man. Kokko is class but isnt fit. I have to question why we are conceding so many injuries and all these defenders???? Questions need to be asked. Hopefully martin lee can see that we are lacking a bit from the top teams

Boogard didn't have the best game but has been super for us most of the season. Doesn't help he is carrying a whole back 4.
Kokko is looking the goods but just needs fitness. Nobby needs just a little confidence and I suspect we will see a much different player.
Hoole seemed a touch more effective. His first touch was a little more composed.
For next week.. Brown/ug cm pairing with Poljak in CB?

Not sure you can do much about impact injuries.

Any injury concerns should stay home. Not worth the risk on this loss. When a full squad returns we'll go ok
too fkn easy
