So much for the rigourous NPL criteria last year.
Surely one of the criteria conditions was that you have enough juniors to make a squad.

another great f-up from NNSWF.
maybe FOXSPORTS should run NNSW mving forward.
All local NPL clubs, should boycott the FNC games as well.

It's ridiculous.. Who didn't see this coming but? Who would want to travel that far every second weekend to play? It will be interesting to see how NCF handle the travel if they start to struggle

Good to see Northern did their research..

We are seeing some lopsided scorelines in the last few trial matches so far in pre-season..
Magic 9 - Charlestown 2 - 13's
Jets 10 - Lambton 3 - 13's
Edgeworth 18 - Valentine 0 - All age groups
Edgeworth 5 - Weston 0 - 13's

Is this usually a trend or are we seeing a decrease in player talent?

I think we are see the same players leaving their SAP programs and going to the same clubs. Leaves the others with some catching up to do, but wouldn't say the talent pool is getting worse.

This will happen when rep sides form a team in a competition, nnswf need to do something, especially when some clubs offer push bikes and boots to get kids over the line

Youth kicked off this weekend.. Some interesting results all over the board..

13's - Magic 10 - Lambton 0?? Hartley with 8 or 9 SAP players over there.. Olympic 12 - Valo 0?? North Coast with their first victory in NPL!
16's - Massive scorelines.. 7-0, 6-0, 4-0, 7-0

I wouldn't mind too much if we saw results like that Consistently from jets youth. They are meant to be the best youth players in NNSW, they should be dominating teams. They should have the best 15 kids from each age group. They should be drilled and coached by the best coaches. They should be fitter and technically better.
Bad day for CCB or were jets actually that good?

Early days in the season but it looks like both Valentine and Charlestown are way off the standard required for NPL Yoof.
Jaffas are also struggling but nothing new there.

The rumour circulating last year that Charly may not have their NPL license renewed may have impacted their their yoof players and perhaps the same could be said for Valentine given the problems with Cahill Oval.

Hamilton are very strong in 13's.. Not unbeatable though, losing to Jets 1-0 last week
Magic 13s down 1-0 yesterday but all other grades got up

NIF seem to be a decent inclusion this year.. Big strong boys who want to play football.. After three rounds all of their teams seem to be going okay

The EJets are a year younger than their opponents so even sadder result for CCB. Expect the top 3 or 4 clubs to do similar jobs on Blues. The EJs will be up there but unlikely to dominate any of those grades.

Big call MT after they have only played 2 games.
Agree though that they look like they will be competitive in all grades unlike some more established NPL clubs.
The Lakes 15s are strong, well coached and have been together for a few years and will probably be the pick of their teams.

Magic, Weston and the EJ's appear to be the frontrunners across most grades in my view.

Jets 12's and Olympic are the standouts in the Under 13's comp at the moment. Followed by Magic, Edgeworth and North Coast Football. Lakes and Valentine struggling, Jaffas, Charlestown and Adamstown look like improvers.

Prediction, Olympic first past the post. Jets, Olympic, Edgeworth and Broadmeadow, Grand Final contenders.

Under 16's appears to be a four horse race with Broadmeadow, U15 Jets, Jaffas and FMNC likely to contest finals after breaking from the rest of the pack.

Looks like CCB youth development hits a new low on the weekend.

Being thumped by the EJs or Hamilton is one thing but losing all four grades to Lakes at home on the weekend for a combined score of 13-0 is abysmal.

Last round next weekend so congrats to the teams who have wrapped up the minor premiership already!!

13's - Olympic
14's - Magic
15's - Olympic
16's - Lambton

Thoughts on the standards of the competitions? Top 5 from all leagues seems very competitive with 13's going down to the last day. 14's anyone from 8th up can make the finals. 15's locked in and 16's season finishes this weekend

At the other end, there seems to be a pattern with the same clubs all propping up the bottom four teams - Seems to not be enough quality to go around and they're looking at introducing youth grades into NewFM!

Also, rumour mill is saying earlier start & later finish next NPL Youth season with everyone playing each other twice!! :yay:

Draw was very favourable to some teams only playing one or two stronger teams once while playing bottom 4 teams twice,

Changes to TPP introducing SAP U9s at club level approved by NNSWF Board Wednesday night. Clubs to apply for and be issued SAP Licence before they can advertise for trials to be held.

Draw options being reviewed to have full fixture with options to start a little earlier and finish a little later.

Surely this can't be correct as 15 year olds are not allowed to play senior football.
The jets 18s were handed to 3 0 forfeit wins only weeks ago due to Magic and Edgeworth fielding 15 yr olds in their 18s teams

Players being asked to sign on the night of trials & if they don't their spot will be given to someone else.. At least let the kid get home and decide what he wants to do instead of forcing them to make a decision there and then

Rule change coming in 2018 to allow clubs to apply for 2 players from 15s to be elevated to 16s as part of that squad, can't play back down into 15s but can play 18s.

Clubs making promises without knowing criteria for approval from NNSWF.

North Coast Football in 13s, traveling a long way, washed out games as draws so should have been premiers, strong performance on first year in comp.

Doesn't help the kids and parents, when some clubs go out of their way to put trials on the same night, I know our TD worked in conjunction with two other TD"s working around each other, while some clubs deliberately put them on same night and times, its out of control at the moment.

They were good value for sure. I think you need to get your calculator out though! They had 3 games washed out which they got 1 point for the draw. They dropped 6 potential points due to wash outs and Hamilton won the league with 11 points more than them! if they had won all the washouts, the best they could have come was 2nd on 50 points. One of the washouts was against the Jets early in the season, when North Coast hadn't quite hit their straps and the EJ's were red hot.

They are a very good side, essentially a representative side, good luck to them, but they wouldn't have been premiers had they won their washouts.

They would have a better chance of being premiers if they had the cushy draw that Hamilton had where they only played one of the top (NCF) 4-5 teams in the second round.

Yes that's correct but I am not sure that parents know that? Or they feel like they should honour their commitment to the club so they stay put
