Big game. Will decide if Jones needs the sack and do we need more Chinese imports, players not cars.

Stats - almost better than JP's

Weve won nearly every game up there so an eazy E 3pts straight outta Caxton coming up.

They wear orange and are good team.

We wear royal and navy blue, red, gold, emerald, cinnamon and are confused on what colours we bleed.

Refs will suck, assistants wont even.

Away support will rock and have best time and will want to stay to drink more beer and not go to work.

SD could get a prozzy.

Go Jets

Doomed.
BK to let in at least 6.
If someone punches McKay in the face I'll take it as a win.
Miller OUT.

TALKING POINTS:
Memorable Match
17th November 2013
The first match where the Jets came from behind at half time to win. Brisbane took the lead through a Luke Bratten goal on a soggy afternoon in Newcastle. The second half saw the Jets score two goals through Adam Taggart, with a little help from a large puddle of water, to run out 2-1 winners.

General
There has only been one scoreless match between these two teams in the history of the A-League.
The Jets last beat the Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium in February 2014
Mark Jones and Gary Van Egmond are the only managers to have won their first matches against the Roar.
Brisbane Roar are undefeated at Suncorp Stadium in 13 matches

Yeh see this is what I don't get. We've got other players playing just as ****ing shit. Nordstrand tries to run past and gets beat by Mackay. ****in Mackay! Ugarkovic gives up a pass on half way just after we played like ****ing Barca to get outta the backline. Nabbout misses an easy glancing header off a decent Hoole cross. Cowburn ****s up numerous times.

How lucky was that Hoffman cross?

Is it a coincidence that we've looked much better with him out of the side? Poljak, Uga and Brown look so much better as the midfield trio for mind.

Not sure Cowburn replacing Kanta in the injury ward or wherever he is works for Cowburn...

Hes a squaddie. Good utility player and can replace Kanta in this respect. Can cover some positions if injuries happen but you wouldn't want him starting every week. Also struggles on the left. Much better suited to the right. Vujica looks much better at LB but is a long term prospect

One thing that does baffle me a little is the commentators love for Hoole.
I feel I'm generally on the middle of the fence with him. I enjoy his style of play in that he is quick and sharp in attack and always seems to be involved when we have chances. His work ethic, while still not terrific in defence, has improved. His decision making and finishing in the final third needs some work and if he can improve this, then I think he will be a great player for us.
The baffling thing for me is his set pieces. Corners, free kicks etc, they rarely clear the first defender.
Takes me back to when I was younger and my old man said to me that if I don't hit the target, there's no chance of scoring. Better off hitting the target and making somebody save your shot than to blam It over the goals.

Same applies, just loop a ball into the box. Make the keeper come for it or make a defender play at it.

its a bit hard to compare these two but hoole for me is at this level already and with a lot more promise to come, he still is only very young and has that ego and fire a player needs to go with it. he is playing still at his natural abilty and with a couple more years at this level and coaching he will be in lower divisions in europe , and then so on... Hoole better than a league level??? I don't see it. He also wont get to play for a team who will give him 100 chances overseas. Any decent European team after watching him fluff numerous chances and over or underhit set pieces and corners will either release him or loan him back to the aleague. Im glad he is now scoring goals but the rest of his play IMO needs serious work before we even whisper overseas for hoole

I will agree that cowburn will only be an a league player and theirs nothing wrong with that. He could become a newy legend if he nails down a position and works hard enough

Hoole = Rubbish but in a great run of form. That was a very good strike from him.

Cowburn = Rubbish but in poor form.

Hoole has had many years at this level and seems to have as many weaknesses as strengths.(i.e. Quick but stumbles over the ball.. can pass the ball but doesn't remember which teams he is playing for... Has the face of a lesbian who has been beaten up a few times by her butch lover but at least he isn't a ginger like the last wanker we had on the left hand side from Sydney that everyone either loved or hated with passion...)

Cowburn is all of 12 years old and can improve on the weaknesses in his game but he hasn't stood out as being truly HAL level yet. Keep plugging away and learning from the players around him and he will earn his spot and then he needs to be ready to own it. BUT he is not a good LB at all. Would rather Vujica or Jackson there when everyone is fit.

To everyone sucking Jones nipples and telling how good he is i'd like to point out that we have played kind of rubbish all season. The entire league seems to be a bit shite this season to be honest. BUT We have been punishing opposing teams mistakes which is why we are all so happy. It's ok to stuff up as long as they do as well, just make sure you punish them accordingly. Thats what happened to us for the last 5 years or so.

Whether this is Jones's doing or not he is the coach and he currently has us in the 6. So he can keep his job, but i still think he is a rubbish coach and he seems like a wank of a bloke. I have been wrong before though so don't go getting this post tattooed on your neck or anything.

I think this is the dumbest things i have ever heard about football. I reckon 95% of goals scored in football everywhere have some kind of defensive mistake leading up to or contributing to it. Isn't that what a good manager can get a team to do, target and expose weaknesses and have players good enough to capitalise on those opportunities?

Agreed were also forcing teams to make mistakes with quicker ball movement and accurate passing at stages which is drawing defenders out of position.

This seems like one of those glass half full situations Lefty. What i would call attacking skill, i.e. beating a player with pace, you are calling a defensive mistake, i.e being beaten with pace.

What i mean is like individual stuff-ups being punished. i.e Theo's dropped ball or a terrible pass out from the back. The last few years we wouldn't capitalise on these mistakes, this year we have been. We are coffing up as many errors as we had been but we've aided ourselves by being more ruthless when on the receiving end of these gifts.

We aren't going to play through teams with brilliant passing and touches for 90 mins so we needed to find an easier way to score goals, which we now have. If Jones is the reason for that then full Kudos to him. however i'm sticking with my original assessment of him until the end of the season. I was stating earlier that i could very well be wrong about him, and would be happy for him to guide us to the guilded toilet seat this year, but i will stick to my guns at this stage of the season as i can still a lot of problems with the way we are playing football. The results have been better than the football, which i suppose is better than the alternative.

How about the teams below us on the ladder with much bigger budgets and supposedly better player rosters ?

The Jets have had a lot of key players out with injury, a change of coach and other personnel, and pretty much no favours from referees. And yet they are in 5th position on the table and starting to look like a genuine chance to play finals football.

Imagine being an Adelaide or Wanderers supporter from a moment before you whinge about how bad the Jets are going.

Both Adelaide, Wellington, or Wanderers have coaches with proven records at this level and better - yet Jones is ahead of them on the table.

Playing a style of football which suits the cattle at his disposal. I was keen to read the post match statistics following Aloisi's comments. We had less possession, but how much of their passing was sideways or backwards? We had a whopping 40+ interceptions compared their 12 or so. Our ability to break up play or interrupt their system leads to quite an effective reactive counterattack play. Hence why boogard and poljak are crucial inclusions on the team sheet.
We mustered more shots and more shots on target than Brisbane and looked good value for our win.
The difference between our style of play and Brisbane is that if we had mclaren playing at the point of our attack, we would score a bucket load more due to our ability to create real threatening chances.
The pre match talk up from fox sports was also interesting, the statistics indicated we are creating various chances in numerous games and are one of the danger teams in the comp.

Credit must go to Jones for creating a system of play which has us going through the football thirds and playing effective football. Bloody exciting to watch too I must admit.
