16/17 HAL Round 15 | Newcastle Jets v Perth Glory hole | Sun 15th Jan 2017 5:00pm

Perf at home. What could go wrong? After we beat them them over there they will be scared and not want to show.

A comfortable 41 deg should see at least 4000 piling through the gates.

Stats
Jets are red, blue, gold, white and other colours. They have good engines, mongrel and a new respect for badge. We have tough defence and spirited attack and mostly know what we are doing.

Perth are Purple with brown stains and are arguing with each other and refuse to share heat rub. Warren, Djulbic and Rostyn Griffiths are their main grubs. They are very dangerous in attack and love long ball, boo

Game could be as good as pregame at prem.

**SD will be out to score as well** not sure if paid.

My logic suggests coaches are man-managers, and Jones may have mishandled a player this week that led to a catastrophic f*ck-up early by said player. You've got to learn what players respond to, and I think Jones learned a valuable lesson about what Jackson responds to/doesn't respond to this week.

Jones fanboys will be furious with the rest of us next week when he chooses to leave Hoole's spot vacant and play with 10 men because he couldn't bare the thought of replacing him.

Not arguing with you here for the sake of it.. But we've won 3 from our last 5. We are up here 2-1. Why the need for change. If he changes a winning formula and we lose because of it he looks very bad. i know Castro came second in the Griff medal the other year back but is he either super fit or does he stink of cat piss because none of our blokes bothered to go anywhere near him all day.

is he that good? because id always assume you'd stick pretty close to a teams best player but man oh man every time they went forward he was getting the ball in the attacking third in loads of space.

fill me in, is that some sort of 'zone coaching' where he just drifts between the lines and we defend to a 'structure' or our players just shitheads who can't be assed sticking to a bloke?

Teams [Germany] eventually worked out that marking Maradonna was a waste of time and instead concentrated on limiting the supply to him. Obviously Castro isn't Maradonna but he's certainly a class above most players in the A-league. Hence going man to man on him you will get burned more often than not.

The bloke does a good job moving about the pitch

My main issue is had was we spent too much time early first half and early second half holding position and jockeying.

I think it is a massive issue this.

That standing off tactic is useful to get settled in position and to conserve energy at times but it is a problem
Blokes get complacent and jog about the place forgetting the simple concept of first to the ball and we allow opposition to settle and play

FFS get into them particularly 30/40 metres from our goal we should be pressing the bloke with the ball all the time

We also failed to pit him on his arse often enough
Another useful tactic to disrupt him

oh i don't doubt that. it wasn't actually a criticism, more like 'how does their best player remain open all game'.

I at least remember when we played Del Piero we played through the middle and made him do his share of defensive work. From memory he was (relatively) ineffective in the games against us (as a whole). Correct if wrong but record was ok yeah? (considering how garbage we are).

I always thought Cullina was great at getting space, as was some bloke from Adelaide back in the day. Just weird to watch thats all.
I mean, we have 4 backs and 2 defensive mids and no one was near him.

Also, Jets players are trash. no one cares about the fans. Poljak seems to care, but the rest are shit.

Taggart gave Plague Jnr a high five and took photos with anyone who asked. Top bloke. my favourite player now, Jets players are jerks.
I don't like any of them.

Next time I'm walking past.

The fact that we can't bring a natural resource into the ground that's needed to survive is ****ing ridiculous. Next they'll ask you to stop breathing until you head to the bar and grab a breathing apparatus.
Anyway back to the game. Poljak was good today. That Chinga bloke was pretty good too. Same with mouse man and that 40yo bloke at the front who looks 12.

I've not got an RSA or anything like that but it's because it's a licenced venue. They've always had the rule it's just now its being more stringently applied. That's what I was previously told. It's a stadium issue, not the club.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in 100% agreement with you and it's a sad reflection when you can't bring water to a game in your own bottle. Minority have ruined it for majority

Hm and Stevie U and Chinese Messi were the main ****ing reason we got our arsed handed to us in the first 15 mins of each half

PERTH had 4 pushed up and our back 4 were picking them up

They kept 4 at the back to take care of Nabbout Nordstrand and Raheem Sterling

That left 2 in midfield to our 3

Their 2 won the battle

Yesterday was a game where we should have done much much better.

It down to our CMs who had pretty average games.

not allowed to be like that these days.
Jackson would have got a head rub by the coach and a participation ribbon after the game.

the rest of the Jets players would have had counselling sessions in order to turn their rage into acceptance that everyone is equal, even the mong players.

Perth definitely won the midfield battle, no arguments there.

For the first 15 minutes we passed to the opposition 6 times out of about 15. Absolute piss-poor passing to start the game.

BUT. At least Poljak threw himself around and won some balls back to help sway the game in our direction. Uga was ineffectual. Ma Lei Lei Lei Lei looked off the pace for the majority of the game to me.

So, yes our midfield was Rubbish but Poljak had just enough 'Mongrel' to not need to cry himself to sleep last night.

I felt like we needed to bring Kokko on at around the 60th minute to give their CBs something to think about. When he did come on though he managed to get called for more offsides than Mifsud could manage in a half..

we didnt dominate because perf have a good team and keogh taggart and castro are actually really good players and this passing from the back system still doesn't fully work. Also any team will struggle when their best player Ugar has an off game

Also, Uga is not in our best 3 players this season. Potential doesn't win you games. Goals and defence do., He is a good young player and the best option we have. But he doesn't do enough to warrant a pedestal yet.

We needed to pay some attention to where he was on the pitch let alone worry about kicking his ankles.. We let him have way too much space and couldn't shut him down effectively when he moved around us. He was great to watch other than the fact he thought it was a cross-bar challenge rather than a real game..

They have a few Individual quality players (the ones I mentioned) and they allowed the perf to dominate, Also id like to see any midfield in the league handle Castro running at them. As for Ugar he might not warrant a pedastol but he is the most talented player we have and when he is on song our team is generally firing on all cylinders

Also, after the game, him, Keogh and Tagg-man were the players who went over to the fans and signed shit, got photos etc.
Rest of them made a half assed effort then walked straight off. Castro was there for ages, getting photos with Jets fans as well. Seems like a good bloke.
Also, Taggart walked back over to the fans at least 3 extra times (after he thought he was done) to get photos and sign shit.

Its such a minor thing but its a bit sad when the opposition players make more of an effort with the fans than your own team does.

Put him on his arse regularly
Press the shit out of him

If they're emptied they MUST fill.them for toy at the bar.

The formula point is an excellent one. A solution is needed for that.

The seccos told us the reason for the crackdown is that ONE fan tried to smuggle in vodka before Xmas. So...we punish everyone. FFS...if you want to smuggle in vodka you can inject an orange, hide a pouch in your salad or down your pants!

I
when we did try to press him yesterday (rarely though) he just glided past our players

I wouldn't call that pressing.

Pressing is an organised pattern of play where your team actually work as a unit to disrupt play

It not 1/2 blokes closing someone down

It the whole side working to pressure the opposition

It may not see the ball coughed up initially but it is a good tool to also slow up progress down the park and allow your defence to settle

As soon as the opposition are within 30 metres of goal every **** should be pressing.

Failure to do so just invites the opposition attackers to find their Mojo

You want to see pressing in effect watch the Smurfs and see how Arne has them squeezing the shit out of the opposition in middle of the park

As a result the ball rarely is getting near High 5 Danny

And when Castro glided past a player yesterday that where your boy Poljak should have been. There too win the ball or put him on his arse

Either one will do
