Bayern start the new season in style beating Dortmund the pretenders in the German super cup 2-1. Glad Ive got setanta this season

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/news/1116068/Bayern-wins-German-Super-Cup

Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund for the first time in six attempts to lift the German Super Cup with a 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena.

Mario Mandzukic and Thomas Muller put the host two up within 11 minutes, but Robert Lewandowski pulled one back 15 minutes from time.

Dortmund, the current league and cup holder, was unable to find an equaliser, though, as Bayern picked up the first trophy of the 2012-2013 season and became the record German Super Cup winner with this, its fourth triumph.

Bayern had lost its last five games in a row to Dortmund and made it clear straight away that it was not going to tolerate a sixth defeat.

Muller went close with a header early on before Mandzukic put the host in front with his first goal since arriving from Wolfsburg in the northern summer.

Franck Ribery's cross from the left evaded two Dortmund defenders on its way through to Mandzukic, who kept his composure to place a shot into the bottom corner, out of the reach of Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller.

Muller made it two in the 11th minute, benefiting from a rebound off the post after Arjen Robben's lifted shot over Weidenfeller just missed the target, and shooting powerfully into the roof of the net.

Bayern sat on its lead, but Dortmund lacked the invention to cause it any problems, not managing a single shot on goal in the first 45 minutes.

That soon changed in the second half when Lewandowski tested Manuel Neuer with a header which the Germany goalkeeper did well to push behind.

Lewandowski missed an even better chance in the 67th minute after Marco Reus and Mario Gotze combined to set him up, but his weak effort trickled wide of the post.

He made no mistake with his third effort, though, to bring Dortmund back into the game in the 75th minute with a low shot from just outside the penalty area.

Bayern resorted to defending the lead, but a tiring Dortmund side was unable to cause any further problems as the record German champion became the record Super Cup winner.

I had it for Euro and it was great..
We have pretty quick internet (with no d/l limits) and I didnt have any major problems streaming it constantly on the highest quality it would allow..
The odd time it would stall (but that was more an issue with my comp) which was fixed by simply refreshing the page..
I cancelled my subscription after Euro, but after what Baz has said, I'm thinking I might get back on it..

Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Spain midfielder Javi Martinez from Athletic Bilbao.

The 23-year-old, who can play either as a defensive midfielder or in the centre of defence, has signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga giants.

Bilbao, who had earlier claimed that Martinez had left to discuss terms and undertake a medical in Munich without their permission, will receive a £32 million fee from Bayern which matches the buyout clause in the player's contract.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed that the player helped push the move through by accepting a lower salary than he might have otherwise expected.

"Of course this is a large sum," Rummenigge said via the club's official website, "but the player participates indirectly in it. He has given up large sums in his salary."

The new signing has been assigned the No.8 shirt, and could make his debut in Sunday when Bayern host Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena.

Martinez, a youth product of Osasuna, leaves Athletic Bilbao having made 201 La Liga appearances since making his senior debut in 2006.

Last season was his most successful at the club as Marcelo Bielsa's side reached the finals of both the Copa del Rey and the Europa League.

While Athletic lost both those finals, Martinez did enjoy success this summer when he was part of the Spain squad that won Euro 2012, enabling him to add a European Championship winner's medal to the one he earned at the World Cup in 2010.

What have you done, Pep? Guardiola has turned unbeatable Bayern into Barcelona 2012
By Mark Doyle19
30-Apr-2014 3:05:24 AM

The Catalan was meant to take Jupp Heynckes' treble winners to the next level but he has instead turned them into the worst version of his former Blaugrana side

Stefan Effenberg told Goal after Bayern Munich’s 1-0 loss to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu last week that Pep Guardiola’s “system had reached its limit”. On Tuesday night in Bavaria, it reached its nadir as his European champions were thrashed 4-0 at home by Carlo Ancelotti's men.

After Bayern’s stunning demolition of Manchester Ciy at the Etihad earlier in the season, it appeared as if Guardiola was poised to create Bayern 2.0. Instead, he has turned last season’s treble winners into Barcelona 2012.

The Catalan had claimed after his side’s first-leg defeat in the Spanish capital that he was proud of his players’ performance. He felt that they deserved credit for having a 78 per cent share of possession. It immediately evoked memories of Xavi pathetically clinging to possession stats after Barcelona had been humiliated 7-0 on aggregate by Bayern in the semi-finals of last year’s Champions League. Keeping the ball should be a means to an end. For Xavi and former Barca boss Guardiola, it seems, possession has become the end in itself.

Serious questions must now be asked of Guardiola’s footballing philosophy. ‘Tika-taka’ was a revolutionary style of play. It transformed Barcelona into one of the most aesthetically pleasing sides the game has ever seen. They were also incredibly successful - until teams worked out how to play against the Blaugrana; how to shut them down, how to isolate Lionel Messi. When Guardiola left Camp Nou in 2012, Barca had become predictable, one-dimensional. Just like Bayern in recent weeks and months.

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. After taking over Jupp Heynckes' treble-winners last summer, Guardiola was supposed to take Bayern Munich to the next level. Instead, he has taken them backwards.

And now his CV will come under review. Once again, the role of La Masia in his success at Camp Nou will be highlighted. As will Barca's over-reliance on Messi. The critics will argue that it's easy to stick to one's principles when arguably the greatest player of all time is always there to defend them.

There's also the fact that Guardiola failed embarrassingly during his time at Camp Nou to adequately address Barcelona’s glaring defensive deficiencies (Dmytro Chygrynskiy, anyone?).

Worryingly, during his one-year sabbatical, Guardiola does not seem to have improved, developed, evolved. The same failings and flaws are still there. The same oversights are being made. All season long, it has been clear that Bayern are vulnerable in the centre of defence. All season long, they have held a ludicrously high line. Both were brutally exposed by Madrid over the course of 180 excruciating minutes for Bayern fans, who now know how their Barcelona counterparts felt just 12 months ago.

Having already claimed the Bundesliga in record-breaking time, and with a DFB-Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund to come, Guardiola could yet claim a double in his first season in Bavaria. However, as Die Welt made clear on Tuesday morning: “Only the Champions League counts.” Guardiola took over one of the strongest squads the European game has ever seen and Bayern did not just fail to defend their title, they did so spectacularly.

Indeed, the Munich daily Abendzeitung had told Bayern's players "You are the kings!" ahead of Tuesday's meeting with Madrid. The fans had also come to the Allianz Arena expecting to see an inauguration. Instead they experienced humiliation. And Guardiola must take all of the blame for that.

parksey
30-04-2014, 11:41 AM
yep

bayern's ability to be equally good at holding the ball and playing on the counter was what made them the best team in the world last season. now they just pass the ball around with little penetration as they don't have enough creativity in the centre of the park. their most creative players are out on the wing but they're not utilised properly.

obviously they are still a very good team but they've definitely gone backwards from last season.

In hindsight it's not too bad.
I think it was about 70 euro, my bank statement says it was about $125AUSD.

However EPL tickets are probably going to be substantially more so the $125 is pretty reasonable to see Hamburg Dortmund.

H96 just need a draw away at Sandhausen...

Saving Bielefeld from Relegation...

and Hamburg... again saving themselves on the last day...

Braunscheiss will loose to wolfsburg I think.

Saw Hamburg play Dortmund when I was over there and I have since had a soft spot for them. Amazing stadium. And support.
Would be interested to see st Pauli go up, idk much about bundesliga but I feel that would be a massive derby.

Regionalliega Derby passion!
Chemie Leipzig gegen Lok Leipzig.
Background to the game - The Blue/Yellow scheisse painted the local Rathaus Blau/Gelb as a protest thay only were given 250 tickets (out of 500)...cause their right wing
supporters are right c***s at hand. Typical shit behaviour of another yellow and blue team. Funny that. (As a Hannover fan, I can add Braunschweig to that list :rof:)
They set up a screen (Leinwand) at their ground and watched it there instead. Talking about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Even their players didn't agree.

These players know how to celebrate a Derby win. Taking the p!ss out of 'Lokomotive' with a train of their own.

Interlaken?
Can highly recommend the cog train up to Lauterbrunnen.
Awesome views of the 3 big peaks: Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau.
We went up a cable car on the RH side 1/2 way along the village to view them.
I was with Swiss people who had 'borrowed's family members Swiss Passes
so alot of it was covered. The ferry ride back to Thun was great too. It zig zags across
from village to village on it's way back to Thun.
Enjoy!
