It was specifically around league goal conceded when the record was being discussed, but it's a good point.

Given this is a competitive fixture, I'd count it, and I think the likes of Fox will too. But if we score, you can still be your bottom dollar the record will then be raised come Round 1 as "Jets haven't scored in the league for "x" minutes/conceded 19 goals on the bounce. If we lose, obviously the record for number of goals conceded will be extended and they (i.e. Fox) will probably have to decide whether they include the FFA Cup.

I used to watch mariners games last year and forget o'donavan was even out there. Same thing happened last night. Also brown seems incapable of playing that far up and recieving the ball with his back to goal. Tries for too many touches and is often dispossessed of the ball rather easily. Given the athletic ability of Hoffman and Georgievski they would be suited as wing backs. Play NTS central to Boogaard and Jackson. One holder with two ahead and two strikers.

We definitely need 2 up front. Playing with 1 is just suicide against the opposition we have

It's an interesting conversation that can only be answered once we complete recruitment but by all accounts we will sign a CAM and a striker. If that's the case, I don't see Nabbout starting in a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2.

Agree, if our strongest attacking lineup changes significantly then that will change things. I was only going off what we have at the moment. If we sign a #10 who is more a ball player than a dribbler (ie not effective out wide) then it does restrict what systems you can play. You can play a pair up top and let him drop in to get it or play a system with 3 in the middle and give him freedom. As you said, any hypotheticals based on who we might sign are hard to consider.

Another possibility if we play wing backs is that Nabbout plays the RWB role if we get some better attacking players to have further up the pitch. From memory he had pretty good work rate and hunger last year so he might make a go of it.

Formations are spoken about too much when it comes to addressing a teams problems, and i mean that with much respect to those wanting to discuss it. Our problems lie with the squad itself and the balance of youth/experience, backs/mids/forwards etc. To merricks credit, he has identified we have too many under 23's that havent reached the required standard yet.
The fact we have so many backs is truly puzzling me considering what merrick said about attacking football when he was installed as gaffa.
