Unlike the past we play a very similar brand of football to Perth now. Should be a very exciting game with a wealth of goal scoring talent on both teams.
Defensively Perth don't fare as well - but the Castro factor can nullify that pretty quickly.

If your lucky you will have it in your hotel room
I watched 3 Jets games in Thailand last year there.
It on about a 30 second delay so turn off your phone's if you get alerts etc
Sort of spoiled a Jets equaliser for me 1 game when the phone went ping with the ball on half way

how sexy was the pass for roy to vargas. if vargas gets his touch right we could be in for a show from him.
and as i type he puts an awesome pass to the wing and then gets to the box and puts on a great cross for roy.

very disappointing outcome.
vargas is amazing, we drop off in attack as soon as he comes off.
defence is still fairly frail. topor/boogs is just a combination that doesn't fill me with confidence. wing backs are pretty good though
i love the fact that i only noticed uga and kanta once each. uga when he was so far up the field he got a nosebleed and dribbled it over the byline, and kanta when he scored the goal.
i'm loving the way we're heading.

Keogh, Castro, and Taggart looked on top of our defence for the last 15 mins. It was only a matter of time before they equalised.
Jets are playing very exciting football and if the CB issues can be fixed they will go a long way this season.

Thought the issues were more in midfield
Wayne Brown offers nothing
Kanta and Ugarkovic same shit different week etc
These two just don't stamp any dominance in the game
Can't wait until Bert actually signs some **** useful in CM to actually give Ronny Dimi and Nabbout some decent ball
Our backline is bookended by two similar players who are big and slow in speed and lacking in ball playing ability
How good would it be to have Ljubo or someone who can actually pass a ball back there??
Or better yet someone who likes to mark up??

Thought Nabbout was poor yesterday. Bloke needs to get back to basics and focus on the simple stuff again. Yeh, we offered him a lifeline last year and he did well for us. But our team has improved and he looks the same. I’d like to see more composure going forward. He had a few half chances where a better shot or a pass could have lead to a goal. Lost his personal battle to a guy on debut.
As has been said Vargas looked to be bossing the game at half pace. If he can get himself up to 90 minutes quickly we will be better for it. Just need to cover his defensive effort.
Duncan doing what a keeper should do. He could go the same way as Birraz. Imagine he will get a few save of the weeks this year.
Loving the intent from O’Donovan and Georgievski. Both full of mongrel. Something we have severely lacked. My fear is Georgievski may miss a few games if he keeps up his weekly yellow card.
Some finishes from Taggart though. Consistency in both of his shots. Always liked him as a player. Would like to see him lift again and get another opportunity overseas or in the national set up if he continues to improve.

Ugar and Kanta fairly anonymous for most of the match. A few times Ugar did dribble the ball and did well, not a side I'd seen of him before. Not sure if its a directive that we play around the middle of the field and focus on wings or just a result of our CM's not hunting for the ball - I suspect both. Vargas looks something special. Nabbout and Dimi's crossing looks quite good and Roy is a good goal scorer.
Nabbout had a few good chances or half chances that he needs to do better with. Some lacklustre shots and indecision around the edge of the box from him.
We looked really good the first half hour of the second half, pressing them into their half and dealt with most long balls quite comfortably. Once we started trying to cruise it home and ceded ground to them and let their attackers run at our fullbacks again it was a nervous end, and wasn't a big surprise to see them get a goal.
Good game to watch though, should be plenty of entertainment this season

Absolutely.
If I was told we'd have scored 7 goals, be undefeated and have 4 points on the board after 2 games I'd have snapped your hand off.
It was an interesting feel with the team yesterday because after we went behind heads didn't go down. We actually responded and took the ascendancy. Teams of the last few seasons would have gone 2 or 3 down in a similar situation.
Vargas played 60 minutes last week, 70-odd this week. He's building. A very soild home debut.
Get our defence sorted and we will be better. We need a clean sheet because we've only kept 2 in the last 12 months.
There's a lot to feel good about at this stage in the season.

So many more positives than negatives. We aren't going to win the comp but we are going to be entertaining to watch.
If we have a good run without injuries we should make the top 6 (is that too brave to say?)
Petratos was quiet but we still had plenty of attack in us. O'Donovan looks like he could be the buy of the year. Once Vargas settles in more he could blitz this league. Although disappointed to not keep the 3 points, that was the happiest I have walked away from a draw in a while.
We actually have some potential!
We will lose games but I feel like we may be that team that no one really wants to play because when we click we will hurt anyone.

O'Donavan is possibly the hardest working striker in the A-league. Not only does he score goals and assist others in attack he's also happy to get his hands dirty and do more than his share of defensive work as well.
Not too mention he also has genuine pace and the fitness to be still running hard in the last ten mins of a game.
If he was Australian he'd be a Socceroo.

Tired / spent. He did a mountain of work and pretty much had Castro running at him for a good part of the game. I'm guessing Ernie wanted some fresh legs to deal with the pressure. Castro pretty much avoided Georgevski as often as he could - switching sides a lot to target the youngsters. As far as I could tell anyway - I don't see too well at the games given the play was a long way away from the Eastern stand in the 2nd half

I think he just lacks the agility and speed off the mark or reactions to really get up in the face of the tricky customers, so he was giving a fair bit of respect and distance to the attackers when he came on. He definitely looks and moves like a centre back rather than a fullback.
I claim that Castro was offside for Perth's opener. Anyone else see that too?

Perth may have stacked the centre of the park but reality was our centre mids in Kanta and Ugarkovic done little
When Brown came on he sat in their pocket as well
For the last 20 mins there was no composure and control of the game at all from any of them
Even if we conceding posession advantage you can look comfortable in defence and dangerous on the counter
We done neither yesterday
Kanta Ugar and Brown chased shadows and were bypassed in midfield and taken out of the game far too easily
Considering Kanta and Browns experience it not really good enough

I thought Vargas and Roy have shown to be two of our best imports in ages, Roy seems way more active playing for us then he ever did for the Mariners and Vargas with some time to gel with the team and get his fitness up can only improve from here I feel
Georgevski and Vujica killed it, considering Castro was running at Vujica a lot, he was game and did a really good job as well as putting in a lot of work up and down the park
Our midfield struggled a little compared to last game, i liked Uga going on the odd run and I do think Kanta is playing the best football he's played in years, but I would like to see Kanta get replaced by some truly high quality mid
Were we struggle most is our cb's who are just woeful, and the fact that nabbout is kinda start stop, he can be very good at times and gets himself into good positions, but messes up those positions a lot more then he shoul
Thought Nabbout looked out of sorts yesterday, couple of times just appeared flat footed a lack of anticipation if you will.
Thats not what Merrick was saying post game, Talking about Kanta being better then last week and Uga combining well with Dimi and vargas and Brown doing a good job off the bench
Well I watched the game and from the time Vargas went off we were a lot less threatening
The minute Nabbout left our attack was ****ed as Champness didn't get into the game at all except to give away a few fouls
Our team just basically held position for the last 20 and tried to hang on
Our midfield sitting on the toes of our back four were the reason why
They never seen the ball and when we did get it we had no one to give it to or refused to respect possession and just hoofed it away
Bert was obviously watching a different game if he thinks we had any control of that last 20 mins because the dominance we were showing in the second half that was rewarded with the goal ceased as soon as the subs came on

I agree with you for once we didnt look threatening once Vargas went off. I feel when Vargas goes off Dimi needs to go to number 10 then either Nabbout or Champness needs to go to the right

What people are saying is exactly why we need some luck to go well this year. Our best 11 has enough quality to make top 4. Unfortunately our depth is pretty shit. A few subs and our team starts to look a lot like last years.

this was muttered many times by me and my 6 personalities as we all drowned our sorrows post match.

This season as a scholarship player, and then 2 more years as a senior player.

After watch tge replay and without reading this whole thread has anybody mentioned that Perths first goal should have been offside. Castro received the ball from and offside position after he threw it in.

Anyone else hear on Fox that Castro's contract has a clause that states he doesn't have to start preseason training until 3 weeks before the season?
A trade off for extra cash.

I said it earlier in the thread. Finally someone else sees it! What is most disturbing, if true, is it happens RIGHT IN FRONT of the AR.

(Insert sarcasm) I thought VAR was ment to review all goals to stop this discussion before it even starts.

I don't beleive the VAR can rule on offside. Happy to be corrected.

I pretty certain it can
I remember one of the first games where it came up Sydney v Perth in the semis and the Smurfs Dutch defender scored
The whole argument on the decision was based on someone being offside did they interfere etc

I'm pretty sure Ali Abbas was called offside by VAR on the wkend.

Nah he was flagged.
Talking heads said touchy should have kept flag down because VAR can overrule if wrong.

Bet bit of this game was Chris Harold getting booked for simulation.
Then the worst bit, our numptys allow the cross/assist from the turd for the equaliser.

Incorrect, MFKS has already explained that the second goal was completely Boogards fault, not the fact he had 3 acres of space to take his time to cross it.

He's weighed down because he still has Cahill in his pocket

I really enjoyed the time Harold did the double foul on Vujica, and after whinging to the ref decided to try and kiss&make up to Vujica.. and Vujica wasn't having a bar of it.
You chop fellas, you dive, we see thru your eco-friendly good guy attempted facade, you scumbag Chris Harold :rof::oops:
Anyone know the munted, ratty, degenerate that wears some sort of homemade Jets blanket as a cape/jacket?
Looks and acts like he should be a Mariners fan, but wears Jets stuff...
