General

The Thursday W-D-L record of the Jets is 2-1-3. That one draw was against Victory.
The Jets have had just 1 win in this fixture over the last 2 seasons - through a thunderbolt strike from David Carney.
The last time the Jets had consecutive clean sheets at home was March 2014.

Key Stats from Previous Round

There were no cards issued in the last fixture. This is the 9th match it's occurred for the Jets. The last was Rd 2 last season against the Roar.
Milos Ninkovic scored in his 4th consecutive match against the Jets.
The Jets again finished with less than 50% possession. They haven't finished with 50% possession or more so far this season.
Nick Cowburn is the Jets' 3rd most-capped player to have not scored an A-League goal. He's behind Adam D'Apuzzo and James Virgili.

Players

Joe Champness is the only Jets goal scorer to have not scored home and away this season.
All of Roy O'Donovan's goals this season have been scored down at the ground's Northern end.
Andrew Nabbout has scored 7 goals at home in the last 12 months.

Newcastle Jets

Ernie Merrick's 14 points form first 7 matches is 2nd best start to a Jets managerial career. Gary van Egmond 's first stint earned 16 points, while 3rd is Scott Miller with 11 points from their first 7 games respectively.
Newcastle have won 3, drawn 6 and lost 3 of 12 home games over the last 12 months.
Four of the six goals scored at home this season have been scored down the Northern end of the ground.
The Jets have the chance to score at home in 4 consecutive matches for the first time since the middle of last season.

Melbourne Victory

The Victory are undefeated in their last 5 matches.
Victory are in the middle of a 3 match away-match run. After travelling to Newcastle from Perth, they will then play away in Wellington.

But seriously, what are our options because we need someone immediately. Who is available at other clubs that may be able to gain a release?

Why are people panicking it's not like our top two offensive weapons are out injured for over a month. Ohhhhhh ok. Well it's a good time to give Shabow, and Mini Petratos some solid game time up front. I wouldn't bother bringing anyone in - better to keep unity among the group and promote from within.

Some cracking strikes...

Why does the ref make old mate walk slowly to the goal line as it’s the nearest exit but then wait 40 seconds until their sub is ready and the player is in the technical area after all that.

Boogies is about 0.005 seconds away from seeing red. He’s timing them just right atm...

Hey I watching tonight's game on some shitty 3rd world internet stream

I missed the Victree goal due to a technical glitch with the NBN

But we were dominant from min 1 to whenever Milligan got sent off

Victree were chasing shadows

Him getting sent wasn't the reason they lost that game.

They were being smashed in general play well before that

His reaction was just of frustration for him being made to look like a fool by Kanta and co

We bitch slapped them across the park

the member on the money again.

we were clearly dominant from the second they scored.
a deserved win.

judging from the victory internetz that i read they admitted just as much.

Dimi is a genuine no. 10 and one of the best in the league. What happens when Vargas returns ? Nice problem for Bert to have though.

We sacrifice a centre half and play 1 at the back

Play two no 10s and go for the kill

I can see injuries ****ing us this season. This game alone georgievski & hoff went off with knocks. Might be good to take it easy with some of these players just to play it safe.

Feels good to still be confident in the team after we go a goal down early in the game, seems to be the routine this year.

also while everyone is debating whether Milligans headbutt to the chest was technically a red he actually slapped Petratos in the face straight after so pick which one of the two red card offences he should have been sent for.

Its a big credit to the team when you have your leading goalscorer and striker out along with your marquee no.10 and still be as dominant. Throw in 2 injuries to important wide men in the game. The blokes who came on did an excellent job. Cowburn especially was rock solid. Merrick was on the money though when he said you can't expect kids to consistently come in and be as dominant as they were tonight. Its fantastic we are taking 3 points from games we are very light on. Milligan or no Milligan we would have won that game. The confidence and attacking football you see out there is outstanding to watch.

What a great night. I was pretty on the fence about coming in on a Thursday night but man am I glad I did. Gave up the customary early goal, which was a cracker. But other than that I don't think they had a shot on target or had Moss really interested in the game at all bar the one free kick. Not only a comprehensive win, but a very exciting game and the score could really have been anything. Ernie has really delivered on his promise of playing attacking football that is going to excite crowds. When the team buys into it and comes out of their shell, they are really something to watch.

I was really quite worried for our season when Vargas went down. Again after the first half last week I was worried when we were missing Roy (and Brown to a lesser extent). Last night we played them off the park without all three of them and did it in style. Bring on City.

Some stats from last night:

* Glen Moss is player 158 to appear for the club.
* Georgievski became the 75th player to score for us.
* The 17 points achieved after 8 rounds equals the total earned in Season 2014/15 and 1 point behind the total earned last year.
* 45% of the goals conceded by the Jets have come in the opening 15 minutes, 78% have been conceded in the 1st half.
* It was the 4th time in Jets history they have won a match without any Visa players in the team.
* The Jets have earned 11 points coming from behind this season, the most of ANY season in their history.
* The Jets have earned 4 points more after 8 rounds than any other season in thier history.

What a great game!! We haven't been that dominant for the 90 for so many years. Reminds me of the 4-0 win we had over victory at home in season 2.
Wow, it was such an entertaining game to watch. Plus with Roy out!! Even being a goal down early I was confident we'd come back.

Hope georgievski isn't seriously injured. Lawrie said Hoff should be right.

Great game boys!! Happy that Lee was there to witness such a performance. Forza Jets

I think the headbutt combined with hands on the throat sealed his fate.

Milligan is an idiot for his reaction, he won the foul, we got a yellow.....move on.

Hows the amount of cross overs between the two clubs. No wonder there was a bit of feeling.

Nabbout, Georgie, Milligan all heavily involved in the controversy.

Moss and Ernie there too.

These kids are very good.
Champness is brilliant, his work rate leaves Euro Gypo Hoole for dead.
At one stage in the second half we were 3-1 up against 10 men and had an attacking corner. Victory clear the ball with then usual boooooot!
Champness turns and bursts to get back for his defenders.
It was the best sign I have seen that 1. His is quality hard working player & 2. Ernie really has these guys playing for each other.

And Shabow’s run with the ball to play in Dimi leading to the 4th goal was quality too. The second he picked up the ball he made a great hard run to create the space for Dimi before playing him in.
Its those little things our youth players have not really done in the past.

One more was Cowburn, he was excellent when he came on!
