God amongst men.

Going out on a limb here and saying that he is better than Nicky.

Sublime skill, phenomenal power, genius playmaker and outstanding defensive workrate.

This guy should be playing for Australia.

absolute god.

looks to be relishing being the main man in a team set up to attack. he's always been super talented but was in the shadows of bigger players at the roar - and he's a few years older and wiser now.

Never saw him as being a hugely great player at roar, always just thought he was okay

Has definitely been better then Hoole

Makes ya wonder, being wiser and older and having time to develop his game have improved him. Could the same be said if a player like virgili were to be given another chance in the a league as well?

Hopefully when Ronnie is back he doesn't take a back seat again. Can Ronnie play wide right?

Last night when Shabow came on

Bloke was floating wide right and central

Just let him loose

That is a disgusting sentence to read Virgili has never been good enough for the HAL, could be a great bloke and is a very handy NPL player but isn't up to HAL standard.

Dimi was never below HAL level, he just never stood out. Now that he has more responsibility to lead the attack he is flourishing.

I know they're on seperate levels, but I think virgili showed flashes of being an a-leaguer

Virgili has speed

Very little else

He actually a very good example of the piss poor coaching at the club over the years

They didn't develop his all round game at all

Bloke struggles in the NPL when you deny him the chance to use his speed

Terrible footballer Virgili. Would have been better off spending his time on the track at Glendale.

when Arnie gets given the NT nod from the Lowey family I can see him stacking the team with smurf lackies, so is there space in Arnie's roster for Dimi ahead of Matt Simon??? :rof:

Hoole is not even in the same league
I cant believe you guys are even comparing them.

Only controversy is that it hasn't been said sooner.

Andrew Hoole - 76 appearances, 6 goals, 10 assists.

Dimi Petratos - 8 apperances, 4 goals, 3 assists.

Dimi is a class above Hoole. But I found he was rather underwhelming at Roar. You wouldn't have a clue of his Roar STATS?(attn. Plague). He's been incredible since returning to Aus though.

clear evidence that hoole is out-performing Dimi on every stat that matters. particularly assists.

cant believe blokes on here are even comparing the numbers.
you need to take into account that Hoole is playing for a big European club and Petratos is playing for a city whose one true love is V8 Supercars.

So extrapolating Dimi's stats out to match Hoole's appearances (which I know is unfair on Dimi as with more time with his new team he is bound to start feeling more comfortable and improve further)

At 76 Appearances Dimi would have 38 goals and 28.5 assists. Show's what a shit **** of a player Hoole was.

Hoole was also young, played right back for a fair bit of his time as well.

Dimi is in his prime.

Back on focus.

How good is Dimi. Certainly able to pull off the David Villa look.

Dimi is really killing it. If Vargas returns to fitness at the end of the season, we happy for him to take the #10 and push dimi wide again?

If Vargas successfully returns do we resign him, therefore permanently pushing dimi wide or not re-sign Vargas at keep dimi central and buy another winger?

Drop one of Kanta or Ugarkovic. Play with 2 x 10s and go for the throat. win games 7-5 etc

Merrick said at the start of the season most of our joy was coming through Dimi coming inside and linking up with Vargas. I don't think there's any issue with them both being on the pitch at the same time. If Dimi is on the wing and coming inside we just need to have the fullback behind him capable of overlapping (as both Hoff and Georgievski have been doing this season)

Slight difference between Dimi and Raheem

One will play in an actual European League and the other is playing for ****ing Gypsies as no other European club wants him

As for your stats Dani Alves discussion invoked
Stats mean **** all

He’s like a used car. Gets sold new for a bomb, and again for a decent wedge, and again for respectable coin. And we are the salesman twice! Can’t do much better than that

Ninkovic is a no10 but defends on the left with overlapping fullbacks using his space in attack. This is how we generally played dimi except on the right as nabbout prefers the left.
