So left with a couple of fringe 20’s from last year, that weren’t good enough last year, so hard to imagine they will be this year

Exceptional effort especially given the conditions (40+ on finals day). This should be an interesting NPL season, given player movements. If the jets youth can perform half as well as the 1st team its going to be a close comp.

Without knowing there roster, I know Trott, Thompson, Clarke, Comerford, Thornton all played and the two swans played in MF, they and comerford and Clarke carved azzurri midfield.

Yes because CCB have been a quality side in the past. It is only this year that they have made decent signings, and like the guy said they did not play. So what do you expect there mixture of 1st graders, 20's and 18's to do.

Was a good hit out for a youthful Magic team, especially since CCM had 4 A-League players coming back to get some game time. Some great saves from the CCM Keeper Pearce (or something like that), absolute tower of a human being.

Same as Luke Rutledge has gone to Adamstown for first grade football as he wasn’t getting a look in this pre season even while Kyle Hodges is out for a lengthy period as he is injured.

CCB vs Kotara South.

Even the 20's only knocking off the Kotara lads 2-0. Could have been a mix of 20's/18's who knows. Obviously the CCB boys were much quicker/younger/better players all round than the Kotara south team. I would've expected them to put a few more past the Tigers. Game was pretty much what I expected, Tigers chasing shadows for most part of the game. Probably about 5 or 6 of the Kotara boys are genuine 3rd graders.

(1st grade) Heard a few of the CCB boys were moaning about playing a ZPL team. It was not a bad game to watch considering its still only early march. A few of the Kotara boys have played at this level (some years ago). Charlestown dominated for most part of the game. I'm sure Goodchild finished with all 3 goals. Kotara scored 1 pretty well constructed goal and the second goal from the attacker pinching the ball off a defender and a quality cross with a nice tap in. Im sure the CCB players would've walked off thinking it was a good hit out still

Hearing Tanch's frustration on the bench, I wouldn't like to be at their training this week.

Was at the game and was a very impressive display considering both line ups. Jets youth was pretty much a Jets reserve team and magic missing a couple of key boys but it was great to see Dino Faj get some minutes and do quite well. I really rated Vujica this year, he started the season like a beast but on Sunday he looked a long way from that player. Champness was busy, but the rest of those experienced boys that should be pushing for first team action weren't that impressive. Both of their goals came from really sloppy defending from some young magic boys. There were a few solid challenges throughout the game which was fun to watch too. Good hit out for both sides I thought and one that Magic can take a lot from.

Bloody hot and hard for players, but they all had the same conditions

I saw three games, thx to BAR TV, bloody great coverage

Jaffas v Edgy, watched on Bar, not a bad game, first up, given the heat, certainly seemed tough and end to end, entertaining. Good start for Jaffas and they will win those close games all season I think, just experience they seemed to have Edgy covered
Edgy, more competitive than I thought they might be, starting 11 is strong, are they lacking depth, time will tell
Holts coming off bench scoring two crackers certainly helped their cause , but he will be a regular starter once fully fit, probably next week. What is Byrnes doing At Edgy, everything that Zane claimed he doesn’t want at the club. 5 clubs in 5 years, no loyalty and selfish. I suppose you lower your values when you need goals


Lakes v Magic
Another Bar tv experience for me, looked bloody hot and so did Magic. Just out classed Lakes, far too good.
Surely Lakes have better to offer than that. Their defence just looked disorganised and worse looked disinterested. No intensity, no interest in winning possession
Hopefully it was just the heat or 20’s playing, or big night before, if not it’s gonna be a long year

Ljubo class above?? Really. Got absolutely skinned by cooper for the opening goal. Then spent the rest of the match rushing into midfield or upfront and flying into tackles. Hardly a class above

First goal was all Bertos, his first time ball thru to cooper opened Azzurri up and yes Ljubo came up onto cooper to try and shut him down but damage was done, cooper had space and time, his ball thru for horney was superb and finish was nice but Bertos opened them up

Yes agree Ljubo spent time wandering upfield but I think that’s what he will do, under licence from Tanch

But as I said, best thing from Olympic point of view is that the Olympic young guns will have a lot more improvement in them, Azzurri were full strength

There was a 40 minute period late in first half and early second half where Charlie looked way to good and then they stopped.
I though first goal was Ljubo error but gee he makes a difference to the side Valo played the week before in the trial

Identify the football problem --> 1) passing exercise (not drill), 2) positioning game, 3) game training, 4) training game.

It's not rocket science but some times I get the last 2 mixed up :(

Looking at PPS’s Maitland have done some creative counting to get right on 180. Only been back in NPL 3 years yet have Homegrown Players listed at -5 isn’t that impossible?

I’m not sure if it’s particularly creative? If those homegrown players played for Maitland prior to Maitland being in NPL they’re still home grown?

Any homegrown players from Maitland have done well to hang around and even make the list as their youth program and results are rubbish.

It’s impossible as the NewFM lowest grade then was 19s there was no youth teams. Two of the players listed would have been to young and they were playing somewhere else anyway. The whole things a farce.

Who are the 8 new first grade players ? From the Herald article which posted all of the clubs pps lists this is how many new
"1st grade players " each club has signed.

Not sure who got promoted, but the numbers quoted by FB, eg. 10 Azzuri and 10 Olympic, don't correspond to number of switching players. Therefore I can only assume he is including promoted within club.

Just read up on switching rules for pps. It states that amateur player that has played 10 or more 1st grade games with previous seasons club is +5, and if less than 10 is +3. Does a player with no 1st grade games switching clubs count as less than 10 and therefore +3, or does that mean 0 points applied?

Was only going off the pps lists in the Herald hamburgler. Don't know all players at clubs. Just went on switching players on the list and didn't see Townsend ,Thomas or N.Thompson on the list hence why I said 5.
Thompson is not on the list and is over 20 so can't play 1st grade so I agree with your call of 7.

Hamilton doesn't have an out and out quality striker. Therefore finishing throughout the year may be difficult.

I didn't watch the game. Just bringing up a discussion point. I don't recognise anyone in their points list as a front man with a proven track record. But there are a lot of names I don't recognise.
