Good competitive game. Lots of possession for cookers. Lots of chances for stocko. Result spoilt by a piss poor penalty decision. Cookers typical well drilled side. We were happy with the performance after being short a few players early on in the season.

Suburb controlled the game, Wallsend looked off the pace and not handling the heat. It was horrible out there. Even with drinks breaks.

Took a while for the first, but after that Wallsend probably only had 2-3 chances to score. Hitting the post once.

They were terribly impressive in first grade. I had a pretty good view and Azzurri should probably have won it, which is a massive call with 10 men for 80mins against the 4 time GF winners.

Azzurri put a header wide that should have went in and failed to convert from the spot. A host of other half chances through their veteran striker who was seriously classy. This was all without Steve Rospigliosi who will most likely take out the golden boot for the competition.

If they play every week like they did on Saturday, they'll cruise in to the top 4 and I'd be inclined to slap a $50 on them for the premiership.

Could be an issue with the ATO cracking down on Bitcoin these days. Hopefully the club has a dodgy accountant to help avoid the tax hit!!! Might have to reduce NEW stadium capacity by a few thousand

That and the lack of movement recently in medicinal marijuana stock on the ASX has put a stop to construction on the purpose built boutique 10K seater planned. They actually just get their fans in the stadium to put their phone lights on and point towards the training pitch/ground.
Guaranteed light every training session/game and saves on electricity bills. Fans take the electricity bill hit because they love the club so much.

No mate - hung up the boots after last season (and Gloves)

From what I know a number of players were offered contracts (a number of last years first grade) down on the Central Coast with the newly promoted team. The guy who runs the club down there played for us in 2010 when we won the comp. There are about 6 or 7 ex players there.

They lost some of the ressies because they started uni (so some had to move)

Thirds went back to All Age (wanted to keep playing Saturday)

A few guys are playing Friday night all age

I haven't been to a game yet - to busy working in the Winery to get to one so no idea who is actually playing firsts from last year.

Last year defense wise we were solid (3rd least goals against) we just couldn't score....

We are under the impression that it's the Associations preference to promote a team to ZPL where that is their top team. I'm not sure there is anything set in concrete rules wise. We are just happy being competitive again. Long way to go

Geez, i'd suspect Raymond Terrace would have a problem with that statement. 4 grand final wins in a row, 2nd in 2017, Undefeated so far in 2018 vs Cooks Hill never made a ZL1 GF, 8th 2017, 4 games undefeated in 2018.

I know which team i'd be more comfortable supporting.

Interestingly just had a look at 2017 ladder, after 4 rounds last year Cooks Hill were undefeated 3W 1D 0L 10pts and finished the season 5W 3D 10L 18pts

With no direct promotion/ relegation between ZPL and newfm. They should be fine to go up you would think. There is basically a two division comp then a 4 division comp. so can’t what reason there would be to stop them going to ZPL if they were to win it. But still early days in the comp yet.

Just had a look at the way the association awards club championships. Does any else think its strange that a win is only worth 2x a draw, rather than in the regular table where a win is 3x a draw?

This makes it possible for a club to finish higher on the ladder but lower in club championships.

Club A finishes the season in all 3 grades with 7 wins and 11 Loses for 21 points
Club B finishes the season in all 3 grades with 18 Draws for 18 points

Definitely agree with both of these posts. As much as the #survivethedrop was a massive pisstake, our goal was just to be competitive this season and hopefully build from there. We have no ambition of even considering promotion until capital works begins on Smith Park (sheds = disgrace, surface = disgrace, lights = zero, irrigation = zero, drainage = zero). Until then, it is all about providing dirt cheap rego with a damn good pub/social scene...and of course adidas tracksuits.

The good news is that after two months of waiting, Council have finally approved our shipping container! Only problem is that now we will probably wait 6 months for them to give us the key.

Uni seemed to be very solid in lower grades. Their reserve grade were very structured and sharp across the field, which usually reflects on how your first grade team plays, not in this case. Not sure if there are selection issues or not but our reserve grade got beat and know for a fact that we wouldn’t get close to putting that many past our own reserve grade. They seemed to have all handy players individually but as a team were horrible under constant pressure. It was a very clean game in firsts and a lot of the credit has to go to the referee for not adding frustration to the game or players. 11-0 may have flattered us as we didn’t miss as many chances as we normally do. Will be interesting to see how uni bounce back

Stockton looked very good early and ran Uni around the park... They seemed to take the foot off the pedal allowing Uni back in towards the later stages of the first half. Uni fought hard and kept coming back from a goal down in each half. Chances to both teams but University were stronger to the end of the game and perhaps could have stolen the it with two missed opportunities in the last 5 minutes. Stockton looked a bit shaky after such a good start in the first half.

University kicked away with 2 second half goals for a relatively easy win.

A pretty even game as the score suggests. University with a couple more chances but both teams played very well to hold out defensively. Stockton thirds looked to have the best of the first half but University were stronger in the second half.
