Someone else can update the title and stats and so on...

No excuse not to get 3pts and no excuse not to be getting a decent crowd of 11-12k+. I don’t care if it’s Tuesday night. CCM are coming off a 3 day turnaround playing in Geelong on Saturday night. Our tails are up and we’re playing terrific football. The coasties have scored 1 goal in their last 5 games and will be missing De Silva.

Ernie seems to know how to mentally prepare our boys so I’m confident we can finally beat them at home. Can’t remember the last time I saw it happen...

3 points in 2 games against syd and gypos is bare minimum

Thanks to Tards for that

I also think it a great advantage in a league where clubs struggle to perform weekend and then back up midweek as the club's ain't use to it that we get a 72 hour extra break on these cunce and they have a really short turn around

If a Player receives two (2)Yellow Cards during the same A-League Match and therefore receives an indirect Red Card, the two (2) yellow Cards do not count for the purposes of accumulation.

not sure if these are still current, from august 2016. part 5.5

We have the leagues worst passing accuracy.
And 2nd least number of passes.

Perhaps a reflection of how we are trying to play forward quickly and our play concludes much quicker...

Similar to De Bruyne having one of the lowest passing accuracies for Man City.
We attempt riskier passes, great risk and greater reward. We have also based a lot of our attacking off transition play, so a lot of our possessions are quite short.

There's been too many false dawns for me to be 100% confident in a win. But considering the way this season is going, I'm about 90%. Still retaining that 10% caution because anything can happen in this league.

Ok so I haven’t seen any of the game only checking the foz for reaction and the app for score.

If anyone wants to know my opinion on stats go check the stats from tonight’s game. Reading them tell me the Jets were clearly dominant, yet none of you on here even remotely thought that in real time.

A lot of our shots etc came in the last 20 but that’s the Mariners fault for not putting it away earlier and not being able to play for 90mins. Nowhere near our best performance of the season by any stretch.

Hmmm...I think we've avoided the spoon.
:brrr:

I love the close up shit that you miss at the game you see in replays.
I could see him carrying on like a pork chop but Okon: hands in the air after
Posh Hose pulls OUR Joey down after boot skootin' away from the bearded clam.
Prince Okon looked like a clown in the afters too when the @rse card was pulled.
Loved the Red Rose comments as it happened fozzie peeps.

Yes, we were honkin'...but lucky our keeper wasn't. Unquestionable MoM

Still undecided if for the 1st: Joey dummied or miskicked but who gives a rats v da sCCuM
2 down, 1 to go. Ernie's nearly balanced the books.

I think he will come off the bench. Can he be the 4th player to score on debut for the Jets in a derby this season? Oh imagine the scenes.

So, is this just derby debuts?
If 4 players have scored on debut for the Jets this season, that's got to be close to some sort of club or A-League record
for a season, wouldn't it?

I’m just happy we can get to the 80th minute mark and have some faith that we can pinch a goal.
Previous seasons it’s been the opposite, the longer we went without a goal the harder and more impossible it seemed.
Despite playing poorly, you feel like we have a goal in us and a few players now that can create something from nothing.

I don’t think it had anything to do with fitness. He just isn’t interested in tracking back. At all.

That’s ok if we can counter that by backing his defensive duties up with someone else, but I think it will cost us a few goals when he plays overall

How fxxxing great is it watching Ben Kennedy concede goals now. I love it. I particularly enjoyed when Potato went one on one with him, and BK just sat down.

Pato was told by Merrick to pace himself. He could afford to be an outlet wide left when we had the man advantage. He also stretched defence by hanging out there. I had absolutely no problem with him doing what he did after arriving in the country in a heat wave and limited preparation.

I think you will find even in 3 months time he ain't going to be great on the tracking back

The fitness thing is a definite thing though

There were many times when we would switch the ball to him. and he had acres of space to run into and the bloke just pulled up and decided he was going to pass

We are talking about situation where the pass ain't on as it time to attack

He has barely played for his Greek club this season so it no great surprise he short of fitness

Give it another 2 months though and he should be up to speed

Then watch out

I’m surprised at the criticism of Rodriguez. There were several times he was back at our byline helping get the ball out, and there were times when he put the effort in to close down defenders or BK. Merrick said afterward he was only going to give him 20mins but ended up giving him double because we were so poor. Overall, I’d say he performed precisely to what Merrick wanted and then some. One of the best debuts/cameos by an import that I can remember in quite a while.

Agree, thought he was excellent. Most of the times when he wasn't tracking back (from what I saw) it was because he'd just been leading the press out the front. He did track a few fullback runs forward. I think it will take a few games and sessions for both us to get used to how he plays and vice versa. He clearly likes sticking to the touchline and creating that space for himself (which is a common tactic for wingers in many teams), either he will be instructed differently or Ernie will have to come up with a better way of using that. He looks a real threat near the box, has good anticipation (his goal, and nearly pinched another one or two similarly) and can do a bit of playmaking. Bit of a contrast to Joey, who is still learning his trade, but is very direct and just gets the ball and runs at the fullback every time.

We will know more by the weekend, and hopefully he's fit enough to get the majority of a game out of him with Champness now gone.

edit: and also Vujica / whoever else is left back will need to acclimatise to how he plays and how to play off him

Way too early to peg him yet. Scored & helped keep a clean sheet. Waitnsee.

Brown started ok then fell down the well.

Are we the first club in the A-League to have a Rodriguez score on debut twice?

Tweet Andy Howe and ask if we're the first club to have two players with the same surname score on debut. He'd know.
