the last stat in the general section really surprised me. i thought the first third of the season was much better than the second, but turns out we've got the same number of points during that period. how good are brains!
i think it might be good for georgevski to sit a match out, he's really down on form and hopefully a rest gives him a bit more...something.
also, jeterpool, you missed the memorable match bit! :redcard: :rof:

Hoff right back, Champness and Pato wings?
Nah Hoff to bench. Crazy G is a better RB than Hoff. Unfortunately for Hoff he is just going to be a victim off better players starting to return who play further up the park where he has been getting used.

The price for having a strong squad that goes deeper than what we have been used to in seasons past. Somebody has to miss out and inevitably that will include players who are going good.

Not dropped just no place for him in the first 11. Dropping a bloke from another position just to make room for Hoff seems more of a selection based on sentiment. If memory serves me correctly Hoff did not start at RB at the beginning of the season and has pretty much played bugger all time at RB this season. He has made his mark this season with his versatility based on our injury list. Between blokes coming back from the injury list and extras in the transfer window he slips back. Unfortunate for Hoff but great for the club and its supporters, Unless that is if you would rather it like it was in years gone by where we scratching to even come up with a half decent first 11 in which case Hoff is a certain starter each week.

Leave him in the car park unattended at West's
Just put some Asian paraphernalia on the dashboard
Give you at least 3-4 hours grace in his absence
You don't drop players in form and disrupt that form
When our players are back
Roy starts
Pato starts
Dimi starts
Vargas starts
So where you see Hoff in the front four??
Because I don't see how Nabbout gets a start and I have him ahead off Hoffman in the pecking order
Don't forget you also have Joey C in the mix too
As for at the back Georgevski and King Vuj have their spots and Hoff is only cover for them
So by my counts Hoffman is bench player and his versatility will actually probably see him as one of the first picked on the bench

I think people need to get over the fact Duncan is first choice and moss is happy to be back up, ask moss himself. Sure Duncan has had some moments but showed he was more than capable at start of the season.
I don't see how any any keeper should be regarded as first choice. First choice should be the bloke who is going best at the time. That is Moss at present.
Macca
31-01-2018, 04:02 PM
Not sure if that was aimed at me or a general comment, but I'm happy with Duncan as first choice. My only point is you have a backup for a reason and I don't think Duncan should be untouchable in the starting lineup especially given how Moss has shown he can perform too.

How anyone could not want moss is beyond me? Please point to Moss’ point costing errors.... whereas there’s three games (Sydney, smellington and now city) where Duncan should have done better. Sure he pulls off some belters but so does Moss.... but without the errors.... I’m still confused why anyone wouldn’t prefer Moss...

It was a lobbed ball into the 6 yard box and Bobo headed it from 4-5 yards out
Shit defending from Jackson no doubt to put no pressure on the ball or his opponent
But balls in this area are the keepers all day long
Bobo shouldn't have got a touch on it as Moss should have grabbed it 50 cm before his head

jimmy G tweeted that Ernie reckons they'll give Roy 45. Unclear if from the beginning or 2nd half. Also said that McGree is expected to start.
Pulling that together, in addtion to words about Pato starting forever and a day and the hints that Hoffman will be moved back, it leaves Dimi and Nabbout.
Would you be dropping them? I doubt it.
Therefore I think we will see Roy come off the bench 2nd half for McGree.

Well overdue. Lets tear them a new one.
Certainly going to be some talent riding the pine shortly. The upside of pretty much having 2 players for each position from an attacking sense. Probs for another thread but can see City slipping further behind with Fornaroli still weeks away. A real chance for us to put some daylight between us and them over the next month.

Think you are right unfortunately. Half decent weather and a better kick off time this match had the potential to be a 13K plus crowd. As long as we can attract a better crowd than the pretenders down the road who struggle to better 5300 on a Sat night in nice weather at a night time kick off during school holidays.

Ref wearing the Victory jersey, what a disgrace.
They hacked us the whole time, we ended up with 3 (unjustified) yellow cards and none for them: NTS and Kanta booked for the same foul!!! WTF
I think it was a handball in the box and a penalty for us, but to avoid any doubt the ref didn't even use the VAR. WTF x 2
I was a bit disappointed not to see George in the starting eleven, but then he played and I can write it: he is sh*t :D
Not the best Jets, but heaps of grit. NTS and Duncan superb, Dimi and Pato not so good - sorry for Dimi as this was his chance to impress Van Marwjik, I think he missed it.
I can't understand why we keep playing long balls instead of using the creative players we have up front. Kanta is fantastic at winning balls in the middle, but his passing is terrible.
But a win is a win...

How come we are the only team in the comp that can never sucker Rhys Williams into doing that one stupid thing he does every match (be it a stupid card, foul, penalty or injury). We made him look good out there. New Roos coach was there to watch him (not Patratos) so expect him on the plane to Russia with the Members boy Wilkinson.
Instead it was the Jets and namely Jackson that got suckered in to the niggle with so many silly fouls given away. Topor needs to teach them at training how to get them on the sly because he was making Berisha his bitch all night and looked like an angel the whole time.
Duncans first half save was amazing. Overall great game. good on him.
Kanta is everything that is good about this club. Im almost ready to put him on Mt Rushmore. But yeah his outlet passing was not the best.
Such a shame seeing that shitturd Broxham hit the bar late on. such a weasel. **** that guy.

Pretty sure you will find both the Adelaide CEO and his Victory counterpart are the most vocal about the game being removed from the control of the FFA. Monkeys see monkeys do. In actual fact i read at a recent Victory function that Gallop was in attendance the Victory CEO doubled up on his anti FFA rhetoric and Gallop was incensed by it.
As for active support unfortunately it certainly did look to be down on numbers and noise from recent times however those that were there did a good job.

Kind of similar to the Mane incident for me. Both entitled to go for the ball.
The one tht gets there 2nd is gonna get penalised. The initial replay made me thing we were done, looked like nabbout got there first and then Thomas cleaned him up. Reverse angle shows nabbout missed it, Thomas clears it then nabbout makes contact.

Which I thought was the case to
When Jacko got hooked for King Vuj I was surprised as Jacko had kept Barbarousis relatively quiet
As soon as King Vuj came on first play involving the pair and Kosta exposed the pace. I was wondering what Bert was doing as it looked like he had made a change to benefit Victree

yellow cards are discretionary.
ref thought a bloke who came 2nd in a contest and made dangerous contact with an opponent (who won the ball) was worthy of one.
doesnt matter if it was his head, his foot, his knee or his arm. it was dangerous contact with an opponent.

I can deal with it being no goal. Due to player welfare. Can almost take the foul. What I can't deal with is the yellow. It wasn't reckless and not intentional. We may as well never have 50/50 challenges and all go play handball (the school type).

I thought Jackson went very well for the job description he was given and that was to stand over Barba and " do a job on him " and frustrate the shite out of him. For a bloke who has had bugger all football and out of his regular position against a speedstar he done great.

Agree, thought Jackson did well keeping Kosta in check. He muscled up well, won a lot of headers and put a couple good shots in (Berisha probably got a couple sore ribs).
Great move by Ernie to start him imo and well done to Jackson for stepping up and doing the job.
Great game by Duncan, he half came on a free kick again before backing off which made me think we were about to concede again. But other than that, great game with 3 or 4 good saves.
We were pretty shit for the first half an hour until Boogs scored, largely just CBs pumping balls to their keeper. I think we may have struggled if Duncan didn't save that chance Barbarouses had in the first half. Thems the breaks though.
Good win though and good that we were up for it physically, didn't get bullied like last time.
