Anyone actually know the chances of this coming to fruition?

Probably zero.
Why would they boycott?

they just won't send a diplomatic mission

FIFA would suspend australia as soon as they can if the government told them to boycott it

proponents of small government should be doing cartwheels in terms of the cost savings

Probably zero.
Why would they boycott?

Political stances against Russia and recent allegations (ie, That Russian Double Agent poisoning). Australia also just deported (?) 2 suspected Russian Spies or something.

all this because some idiot journalist asked a leading question of Bishop and she said they weren't ruling anything out

if the sole British team at the World Cup aren't boycotting, then no one will

this is just a stupid media beat up

Bishop's words were:

"There are a whole range of further options of action that could be taken, the World Cup is one of the further actions that could be taken in relation to this matter."

Where does she say "the Socceroos will stay home".....ffs.
