I found it interesting that Roar, who didn't have a lot of mobility or height up front, struggled in the same way we did 3 weeks ago. They struggled to get it out as City's midfield suffocated them and Roar resulted to long balls which City picked up the second ball more often that not.

For me, we need to work on beating that initial press, have some heights and pace like we did against the Mariners.

Additionally, we need to shut down Brattan and Jamieson. It was intersting how their midfield suffered once Brattan was injured and tended to hold himself back.

We had a lengthy debate on the podcast around the lineup for this match and not everyone agreed.

Who would you be starting? Would you bring Boogs back into the team? Does Vargas return? How would you use Pato?

I feel like Boogs will start. Either he's right or he's not - and he will say he's right. Not much point having him on the bench if he's 50-50 anyway - rather him start and if he runs out of gas or whatever, he can be pulled off.
I would leave Vargas on the bench, but wouldn't be surprised if he did start. Dimi has performed best this season when he's had all the responsibility on his shoulders. Give it to him again in the biggest match for our club for a while now.
Pato I'm undecided. He has looked really good the last few weeks coming off the bench, and wouldn't have a problem with him coming on for 30 minutes at the end. However, he is undoubtedly a matchwinner on his day, and his recent performances may merit a start. Whether we get the same from him for a whole game is the risk. Eastern stand doesn't have much left in it other than half a bay of away support (but upper bay hasn't opened it seems) and the western stand is close to fully sold as well. 2nd half i counted 3 passes that found the man.

Also, Boogaard was at fault for the first goal. he had the jump on Vidosic and slowed up before realising he was onside then had to leg it again. he was right in line with me and he def pulled up. by then he was a step behind and gave Vidosic the room to put in a good cross.

apart from that (and yes im more than happy to give a bloke one mistake per game), i thought he was immense.
For all the diving crap that goes on, Fornorolli is a beast. bloke is so physical and was giving both our big blokes the business all night. every ball was a fight and Bruno fought like hell for all of it. but Boogaard and then Topor handled him as well as anyone has. it was a huge part of the win. and both of them should get a lot of praise.

hope he pulls up ok because he deserves to lead these blokes out next week.

Here I was thinking City would control more of the game, give Duncan a lot of work, and we’d have to dig in and score on the counter. But they had absolutely nothing- even their goal shouldn’t have counted because it was so ordinary. They had 2 shots on target all game. I’m guessing one was the goal, the other was the one that rolled straight to Moss from outside the box. again, he sits wide and usually gets 1 v 1 opportunities. in space, a good dribbler will beat the first man. Ive no doubt if you swap Arzani and Pato the 'evades' would be similar but the end result would be much more effective.

VAR decision looked to be a conversation between var and ref. Ref looked to explain why he didnt think it was a pen and stuck with his decision. Was suprised it wasnt given to be honest. Think the extra step and his diving past caught up to him. Not sure if the fact he was going away from goal also came into his thinking. Definite contact but goes to that subjective how much contact warrants a penalty.
So good to wake up amd realise it wasnt a dream.

Yep totally agree. He just kept taking them on and then stuffing up the important next pass and stuff the attack up. For all the good he did, he did so much crap as well and dissapeared when he changed wings in the second half. George did a good job on him. Just cant believe the hype they kept going with every time he touched the ball. He made a simple control that any player in the aleague should do and it was like he scored mcgrees goal. That evades stat fmd!
