I get it through my phone plan. All I had to do was log into their website and create an account. You can also hook up ya computer or laptop to the tv and watch it that way

Yeah I signed up. Just wait til June 1st as you get charged calendar month I think. Just download the optus sport app and follow the bouncing ball pretty simple. That will get it to work on your phone or tablet.

I recently moved house and I've always gone with Telstra. But looking at jumping over to Optus for the EPL and World Cup etc. not going to go on a plan though just case they are useless.

The only thing that affects me personally, is that I wish there was a ps4 app so I could watch it through the tv.
They continuously tell me that it’s coming.
Anyway, I could just get a cable or chromecast. So not the end of the world. It’s warmer in bed with a laptop at 3am anyway.

Already have my phone with Optus so happy days there, splashed $50 on a chromecast so I can stream it through the TV. Super easy to set up.

Also with Fulham back in the EPL I'll need this set up to watch them next season, so I'm ready for that now as well :cool:

i use ExpressVPN and it worked for Foxtel go all overseas and let me watch NZ Bein sports EPL coverage during the last season.

Although to be fair those Bein sports chaps sure made an effort to keep blocking it, but there was generally a workaround.

Havent tried Optus O/S yet.

yeah i didnt 'need' one, as my streaming (apart from 10mins of one game being slow) has been perfect. We have NBN here at Plague Manor, so maybe that helps.

I just wanted to see if it made throwing it to my big TV any better than the apps i already use.

I didnt find it hard to set up

HDMI cable in to unit
HDMI cable into TV

Power into Unit
Power into Power Point

Then powered on and into set up mode and away you go

15/20mins tops and a lot of that was me trying to figure it out without worrying about destructions



Havent bothered plugging it into the antenna yet to get FTA TV yet as I tossing up whether to do that as it will effect my HDD recorder etc

I suspect this is the case as well.

Any improvement in the service could easily be down to reduced demand due to people flooding back to SBS, and anyone who has issues with the coverage who still wanted to use it will just flick over to SBS instead of persisting with Optus and complaining.

The quality of video is much better on SBS for me (but that's cause I have third world internet - where the NBN at Tony?). But I've still been watching the mini-matches on Optus, I think they're great. 2 and 3 minute highlight vids just do nothing for me. If I had the time I would still try to watch full matches - but these are a good compromise, still get to see a lot of game play and "incidents" of interest.

Agree 100%, its the same with cricket commentary old vs new. Used to have Benaud silent half the time, and chime in when he had something to say. Now you just have no dead air time and constant anecdotes and unnecessary superlatives about standard play.

I had the same thought last night watching one of the games and enjoyed during a quiet passage of play when the team was just knocking the ball amongst defenders and the commentator said nothing for around 20 seconds. Viewers don't need a play by play of [CB-1] passes to [CB-2] who pauses, then passes back to [CB-1]

Do you mean picture quality? I’ve only watched SBS for the 3 Aussie games. Quality wise I’ve found the Optus replays pretty good too. I’m not great at picking up small visual differences though. And I watch Optus on either phone or laptop compared to TV for SBS.

Well...all up I prefer the Optus coverage. Great to call up highlights and games in demand.
Panel has more variety and fun over Lucy and Foz. That said the reasonable panelists....Aloisi, Okon, Tarek, Oggy, Johnno and Mel is balanced by absurdity of having Smeltz, Wilkinson, Wilkshire, Rosso and Matt McKay ffs.
