TALKING POINTS:
General
The Jets have lost at home to the Mariners twice in the last decade.
Newcastle have the chance to make it 6 consecutive victories against the Mariners.
Ben Kanatrovski is in line to make his 20th F3 derby appearance, equaling the Jets record held by Matt Thompson.
The Jets have scored 16 goals in the last 15 minutes of games against the Mariners – the most against any opposition they face.
Dimitri Petratos scored his 14th A-League goal for the Jets, moving him to 8th in overall Jets standings.
Nikolai Topor-Stanley is in line to make his 64th consecutive appearance for the Jets. This equals the mark from Matt Thompson, who is second overall behind Tarek Elrich (68). In those 63 matches, which span two stints at the club, Topor-Stanley has started every match and played every available minute – a total of 5670 minutes!!
Steven Ugarkovic is not far behind, being in line to make his 59th consecutive A-League appearance. This puts him 4th on the overall list behind Elrich, Topor-Stanley and Thompson.
A goal for Roy O’Donovan will put him equal with Joel Griffiths as the leading Jets goal scorers in the fixture on 6 goals.
A clean sheet will be the first time in over 6 years since the Jets kept 3 consecutive clean sheets.

It's tragic what's become of BK as a keeper. He had a few very tough years which set his football back and he is nowhere near the keeper he once was.
Not a lot in front of him either which doesn't help but I don't think anyone can argue he's A-league standard anymore.
Would love to see him get back to where he once was as a keeper but I think he's day's ay this level must be coming to an end.

Didn't say they would have a coach and yes I think we need to be careful with this one, for we are the Jets and nothing is ever certain..
Wonder if Aloisi would consider going back??? He would have to be mad.

Aloisi will take any position available to him. He won't fix any issues, but he would look great losing the plot every week.

Chokers. In the games that count they go missing ie GF last season, The 6 point opportunity game v Nix at home recently and now today.
Roy missing the first 8 weeks has really messed with his head and cost us much needed competition points at the back end of the season. I think the A League has seen the best of what he has to offer.
It also worries me when Ernie speaks to the media talking our performances up more than they really are. If he is telling the players the same shit no wonder they fail so often to find that next gear with Ernie rubbing the bellies telling them everything is ok.

Dimi cough cough
Dimi is clueless when it comes to keeping things simple. He takes too many touches and is always trying to make the highlights reels rather than just getting the job done.
Dimi cough cough
Without doubt Dimi has been very ordinary. Being flicked from National team group really screwed with his head. But this is also another issue that could have been sorted by Ernie and what i alluded to in my other post. All too often Ernie has refused to acknowledge issues and poor form. Every man woman and child inc those with white sticks and labs to help them get around could see Dimi was playing rubbish football. Simple give and go's have been lost to his game replaced with a bloke who thinks his name is on the ball and only he can play with it.. Ernie week after week refused to acknowledge this like a coach afraid to alienate a Snr player with a few truth bombs and bench him.
Trying to convince people with more than half a brain for the sport that Jackson is a professional footballer, FMD really Ernie ????.
I could go on and on particularly my annoyance at the club for there she'll be right til Roy returns attitude the first 8 weeks. And please don't anybody give me this crap about Jair was not fit enough to play up front as if that was the original plan. The plan was always Hoff and nothing against Hoff he was never the answer except to those at the club in charge of planning in Roy's absence. The club took the piss the first 8 weeks and it came back and bit them on the ass tonight.

Why are we talking about attackers?
We conceded 3 goals to these pricks. There's 5 players who shouldn't be playing next week purely out of shame. If I was those blokes I wouldn't even leaving the house this week.
They probably stopped making the runs because he never rewards them for it and proceeds to turn face backwards then turn in take 10 touches towards the middle of the park in a arching run and take a shot with all of the same accuracy the current Magic coach did. Almost taking the head off anybody not watching on the hill.

The reason Jackson got assists / freedom to move is because even the Mariners defence don't rate him enough to mark him.
Unfortunately, a lot of our attacking play in the 2nd half involved moving the ball to Jackson because he was free - and the Jets took the bait.

They leave him open as he dont want to take them on and his first instinct is to give the ball to someone else

Yes he takes too many touches and that is an issue but our side is actually lacking in blokes running
Jair does but he is trash
Champness does but he been injured all season
Georgievski offers it but he is a better fullback defensively than attacking
Hoffman offers it but we never played him there all season
Miller will add to it when he arrives
FFS this is how much we miss it Appiah provided more than the entire team in his cameo
Our coach has too many blokes putting a foot on it types in the middle of the park and we missing run to stretch opposition
Needs addressing
Roy has to go and we need to sign a striker with some pace

Classic situation in sport: just because you're the "best" team, you give your 60% because, you know, you will win somehow, someone will score, something will happen...
Then things go wrong, your opponents (as bad as they can be) are giving 110% and you start showing some urgency when it's too late.
Showing interest for 20 mins is not good enough. We don't deserve to play finals football. Embarrassing.

the 3rd goal was reason enough to sack the coach, the CEO and ring Middleby up and sack him again just for the sake of it.
Two games at home this season are real standouts for all the wrong reasons for mine. The Nix game and this one were really disappointing and leave you wondering just how these players mentally prepare for a game. This team is a dead set Jekyll and Hyde mob this season capable of some great entertaining football and then they put in efforts like they did in those two games.

But to then have hope and to miss the way we did..
As someone said, we've only got ourselves to blame.

anyone who didnt realise we were toast the second that lame ass single jet flyover happened needs to go read up on the Jets history.
Gypo Middleby has finally succeeded in embarrassing us with the same kind of penny pinching bullshit he made famous down in scumland.
easliy the darkest day in the clubs existence yesterday. what a joke that bloke is.
If Mr Lee isnt already sending in the troops to get that wanker to clear out his desk then he can go get ****ed too.
imagine being the club that only gets a single Jet flyover.
what a joke.
Looking forward to next years yellow and blue strip and the team changing its name to North Gosford Jets.
everyone in the clubs front office needs to be sacked.
then fold the whole damn thing.

What jet???
Like many others we took up King Gypos offer of sitting in the Upper Griffiths Stand to get out of the rain.
Heard alot of noise but saw no jet.

I can't find any details on when the 5 yellow cards equating to a week off is extended (if it is - because it was last year around this time), however Boogaard's booking was his 5th this season so he will be getting a rest next match.

2nd Best news to come out of this game.
The first being finals football is now not happening again and we are back to where we should be.

I can and can't believe we lost that on the weekend. Something is troubling me about the team, and that's their ability to step up and deliver when the pressure is on. We need a result yet we don't turn up when.
Don't get me wrong, we turn up on occasions and we create a chance to get a big result the following week but when it's critical we seem to struggle. Last weekend, Adelaide Rd 20, Nix Rd 18,
I think the Nix are clear, City are on the verge of it because they picked up 3 points I didn't expect them too. It's just Adelaide - and the draw against them in Round 20 is going to prove costly.

When you have an owner / boss looking to cut costs everywhere they can it destroys worker / player morale.
It doesn't make people play harder / better - it makes them depressed.
Martin Lee needs to go.

Are we certain that's happening? What are some examples locally, because other than the article claiming he was in trouble due to the America/Chain trade and selling Shenzen I can't site any others.
Yes, Lawrie has said he's committed to the club and that it affects him overseas (as you expect it would) but I'm happy to be corrected.

Add in no longer naming sponsor or Portuguese 2nd Division, recent jets signings being downgrades rather than upgrades in player skill ... and so on.
We had a chance to bring in a replacement for Nabbout / McGree but instead of going for someone proven - we rolled the dice on a player that's been out of sorts with a former club, and another that's been out of form for several years and doing poorly in an inferior league [Chinese 2nd Division].
There's absolutely nothing happening to prove that the ship isn't sinking.
The real test will be what we do with Vargas and O'Donovan. I'd be shocked if we offered their replacement as much coin let alone more.
Instead, they will be replaced with cheaper options and most likely less talented ones as well.

errrrr, how many Jets you count up in the sky on Saturday boss?
wouldnt shock me if the Gypo redesigned our badge to only have one jet next season so he can keep skimping on the flybys.
Lee out, discrace.

also, this 'share price' excuse.
Ledmans company peaked in April 2016, (roughly 2 months before buying the Jets) and has been on the decline since then.
This #fakenews 'Trump' issue is just some bullshit that his lackies (i.e. Gypo CEO) have used as s smokescreen.
Its also about 25% up from 12 months ago, when everything seemed to be fine fine and ok.
any one of you that believes a word out of that Gypos mouth is a fool.

Was up in the stand and couldn't see them - take your word.
Speaking of re-design I believe Lawrie announced in the executive lounge at the game the Jets logo will be re-designed next season.

i thought it was a couple of weeks ago. i remember watching a nix game i think and they were saying "if he avoids a card this week, it goes up to 8 to get suspended".

So if we re designing our badge what we want on it??
Need something to really encapsulate the basket case of a club appropriately
Steaming pile of shit might be the ticket
