if anyone pulls out for reasons related to Covid then it's a 1-1 draw

no one is stupid or unethical enough to do that to throw a game - plus its counter productive - we only get 14 games, pulling out means you miss out entirely

I’m not bagging out CHill at all. Nor am I suggesting they did that (that would be ridiculous).

It’s the inconsistency that is the problem. There’s all age teams that have pulled out due to COVID reasons and been hit with a 3-0 loss. Unless I’ve been told porkies and someone’s stirring me 😂😂

Without naming teams in our all age comp, one pulled out last weekend due to COVID reasons and it was put up on the website as a 1-1 draw immediately..

i don't see why clubs cant be given the option to reschedule a fixture
with no finals you could potentially miss out on the premiership simply because you played less games than the team in front of you

You know what, there are only 4 teams and its a bit of fun, giving those who otherwise would not have played. I don't think anyone is taking the 3rds games that seriously anyway.
The other two grades are 7 teams, due to pull outs, some early, one late, shit happens that's where we are now.
You should look at the lower divisions where 3rds play reggies in some games, a bit strange but hey they are getting a game.

In the end if you don't like the comp, how its run or anything else about it, just disappear, as i and many others are sick of the keyboard warriors on this page and other pages telling all how good they are, how wrongs things are, what a joke the federation is,
(side note its the not the federation who runs the comp we are in, its Zone league or community as its being known as now, run by Newcastle, Macquarie, Hunter Valley Associations) but i am sure you all knew that.

If you could better in running a comp in the mad days we are having stand up, be a man and tell us how you would/could do it better or refer back to my other point and just piss off.

cheers have a good weekend.

I don’t think many grades are taking it serious and in lower divisions Reggie’s playing 3rds is mind blowing. Clubs will take it serious if it was finals and make up games for washouts so it’s even.
That decision might of kept it a 10 Team comp. From what I hear 2 of the clubs didn’t want to put in all the effort for a comp with no finals an had there been finals the decision may have been to stay in the comp

Was a very entertaining game. 2-0 down early. 2-2 at HT.
Goal midway through second half kinda against the run of play with a back pass stuff up. Came back with two goals after that and hung on to win. Good game to watch, although Swansea wouldn’t have enjoyed it too much. Good result for the comp I guess!

Popped in for a look. Reserve grade was one sided, Swansea looked very good. First was exciting with some quality goals being scored. Lots of chances, end to end, both teams tried hard and it was certainly entertaining.

If someone breaks their leg are you paying their insurance. Playing with fire cause you will have no refs etc.
You started the season knowing there is no finals.

So you would have to pay another lot of rego to cover an unofficial semi final series that would not be recognised by anyone anyway?

Devils advocate: what’s the difference between an organised preseason trial and an organised “post season trial match”?
Could the “process” be undertaken by clubs?
Excluding ground use and the argument “it hasn’t been done”.

Feel like most clubs and players will be keen to just put this season behind them as a write off. Good year to make some $$ off summer 6s, expect a lot of people to be interested in extending their season.

The debate around playing a final series is actually quite interesting. In most major Worldwide football competitions there is no final series, it is first across the line. I realise they have other competitions & knockouts where they have finals. I also realise this is a shortened season with draws for washouts without replays & draws for Covid scares effecting table positions. I just think it's strange that here in Australia we are so ingrained with having a grand final winner in all sports.

I think the main reason Australia has a Grand Final Culture is because there is no promotion/relegation in professional sport. Usually a team having a good season means either promotion or playing in a cup competition. Lacking that means comps with out and out leaders become stale given that without a post season there is nothing to play for. Given that ZPL has no promotion, unlike the leagues under it, a post season kind of gives the comp more value. Having said the comp is fairly even this year so it might be satisfying either way.

It would be an authorised Comp with refs. The extra rego is minimal it’s just clubs make you pay extra to make money.
The only issue you would have to pay refs as the governing body won’t cover the refs

Of the 3 clubs not playing this year. Who do we think will struggle the most getting 3 grades and being competitive. On previous years you would say Warner’s Bay but I have a feeling Kotara will have a very tough year. I think players might of gone else where and might not return. There were coaching changes and issues in pre season that won’t of helped.
I think Dudley should be ok they were strong last year and no one going to play else where I think they will return strong.

It will be difficult for all 3 clubs next year that didnt play this year, you would say.
Rumours around the grounds are, Dudley are in big trouble, the committee have all quit, Davo spent all the money and no silverware (Bhahahaha) and new coaching staff, when there is new coaching staff that's always difficult for at least a year or 2, especially after a year your players have had off, If anything they will be in the bottom 3 next year.

No matter who wins this year, congrats to that team. Well deserved.
But, the real winner this year is all 7 clubs that tried and made the effort for all the players to play, we'll done to you all.
So, everyone get out and support the clubs in the final weeks of the comp.
congrats to all the committees for making the efforts for the players to play and spectators to watch.
Let's bring on 2021.

From what I seen the suns are in red hot form, lucky there isn't any finals this year. They're truly coming home with a wet sail.

Side note, how disrespectful is it that away teams representatives allow their players or supports to take their own alcohol to a away games. Clubs have liquor licenses and depend on the canteen revenue to pay for refs, line marking etc.
Should be club etiquette to respect the home team.
I noticed quite a few Azzurri spectators helping themselves to there own Eskys, when your at the best venue for food and drinks. Love the suns canteen those Kebapi Rolls are outstanding.
Keep up the good work suns.

They must be drunk. No wet sails at the Suns. Far to inconsistent. Have had some good wins at home but losing every away game so far just not good enough.
Noting the incorrect score at Cardiff (3-0) it was actually 3-2. Swansea would hope that GD doesn't come into it.

On another note. It was a rude shock to see the fixture for Suns v Mayfield had a time change (Res @ 3pm, Firsts @ 5pm). Zero notification from the federation and now expected to just suck it up and play at the new times. We have guys that work shift work and change their shifts to be able to play and now unable to do so. The federation have stuck their hands out to get the comp going this year and bent over whoever they want in the process.

Hats off to Cardiff for their season. No one had them winning at the start of the year so great effort lads. I hope for their sake this is the start of a good run cause previous seasons they yo yo with a good season then a relegation battle and on.
Good bunch of blokes and I dare say a few beers were had this weekend

Thanks Hack
just a few drinks and i dont think the yo-yo problem will be there moving forward, everyone staying and a few coming in and back.

Any truth to the rumour that Kotara South are struggling for numbers and looking to drop back a division. I hope this isn’t the case

Yes you are right. This season has been very difficult. Honestly, I don't know how the current mess didn't knock the athletes down. For many people, the nervous system cannot handle it.
