Bought the tickets, just to:
- boo the Welch
- witness the annihilation of Ibini, at the hands (better, studs) of Boogs and Topor.

We'll lose big. Who cares. There's still no relegation.

I would love to go, but between my lack of faith in the Jets to actually keep the WSW idiots from coming in and the covidiots from sydney not giving a shit about the restrictions for travel anyway, I can't risk my job over it. Read somewhere that it was based on the postcode entered when buying tickets. Any with a “hot spot” postcode would be canceled and refunded.
The cricket “will have police checking identifications on entry”. Doubt it will be enforceable. Doubt it will be implemented at an a league game. Maybe at the away gate.

There ain’t any travel restrictions though. Anybody, except for northern beach north side is allowed to travel within NSW.

That's where I am at ass well. I have a ticket, but I am now in two minds because I can't jeopardise my health, my family or my job.

I am seeing on Twitter that a number of WSW fans will be travelling - this makes me less likely to want to go.

Venues NSW are recommending that all those attending wear masks.

Of course we're all free to do what we think is best for ourselves and our families.

But some levity here.....and note I work in the respiratory sector and have access to data.

Anyone from that area could have come up to this region during the Christmas break anyway and will continue to do so.

There has not been a case in the Hunter for 152 days and that is with people freely coming and going. Trust the contact tracing system which is working well. There will be outbreaks for another 18 months at least. Flu and common cold have not been eradicated, this won't be either. Active cases are not ramping up. This is not the UK or USA.

There are only 2 people in hospital in the country (not counting the 16 active cases in Qld where it is compulsory to wait in hospital). None in ICU - so there are 5000 units not being used.

There have been 2 deaths since 25th October.

There will be adequate social distancing at the stadium and if you are that worried wear a mask. Honest, don't fall for the mainstream media spin.

Highly recommend this site - https://www.covid19data.com.au/

The world has gone absolutely nuts. Crankiethorp making the typical pollie media circus of this today doesn't help.

I'm going this week without fear but if it is a right pain in the arse getting there (ticketing has been to start with) I'm giving it the flick until there is some normality.

Agree with JM. There’s an awful lot of media beat up overdramatising things.

I don’t like this approach of just telling postcodes in western Sydney not to attend. It’s creating a lot of problems imo.
Does anybody know if there are any seating restrictions in place?

A better approach would be to split the ground into areas, like they did with MCG. Prevent movement between areas. Designate WSW fans to certain areas. Limit the interaction within the ground and facilities. If there are serious concerns, they should implement something along these lines.
I think it’s irresponsible to elicit fear, by restricting postcodes and asking them not to attend, when there’s no 100% foolproof way to enforce this.

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard announced the state would make masks mandatory for spectators at all large sporting events, including A-league matches.

Mr Hazzard said the decision was based on health advice and the rule would be introduced "in the next day or two".

From the ABC - looks like you'll need a mask if you go.

Given there's no 100% foolproof way to stop people speeding when driving i wish they'd give up with the speed traps too...

I wholly respect everybody's right to engage in whatever risk taking behavior they feel comfortable doing.
I also have no confidence that the level of intelligence in the general population is always high enough to guarantee community safety for all.
Unfortunately most times we have to acknowledge worst case scenario is always a possibility.

How many of them are Wanderers fans, how many of them will travel?

Your chances of catching it are currently 0.00116%.

Mate I understand what you're saying but we've seen in the UK, UK, Brazil, etc what happens when its not taken seriously enough. The reason it's low here is because we crack down as soon as community cases become apparent to make sure it doesnt spread. If thats whats required to make sure the elderly and vulnerable dont catch it and die gasping for air Im all for the current strategy. This is without even taking into account the long lasting effects that some are reporting even with the "milder" cases who've recovered.

Also appreciate what you are saying Furns, as you speak like many in the community. I am in the industry and I do have medical reports on full recoveries in the US and UK of serious cases, including a 101 yo lady who had a chest full of phlegm. It is not a death sentence for all in that demographic, just higher risk. We have the ability to cure and are doing it in huge numbers worldwide, unfortunately this is not getting airtime, try as we might. When did you see a "recovery story" in the media, such as that old lady.

A killer virus is nothing new, just our management of it, hopefully we will all learn something from this.

Anyway - back to the football. Who is actually going? :rof:

Think that further proves that government action is effective. Even what we deem ineffective (Victoria outbreak) is still an amazing result compared to worldwide.

I guess making sure people are adequately informed by the correct sources in government and official health statements. While there’s nothing wrong with being careful, there’s a fine line between cautious and spreading hysteria.

Each to their own.
If an individual is around vulnerable people or doesn’t wish to engage in the risk, good for them.
But I don’t think there should be judgement on those that choose to participate in events deemed legal or within the government advice.

May be wrong, but I think part of JM’s point is, the way media broadcast the clusters in Sydney makes it seem like 25 of the 30 people that live in western Sydney have the virus. Part of making a decision is getting information.

The potential of catching it is only part, and a small part, of my concern. I can manage myself and put in place the controls to reduce infection potential.

My primary concern is that if someone attends who later tests positive and I have to isolate for 14 days, it affects my work and my wife's work as well. We both work for essential services - my actions could affect those businesses, so I think I need to put others ahead of myself on this occasion - as crap as it is to miss out on the game. It is really a head vs heart thing for me. Going to the games are something I love doing.

But I know those that attend will be supporting the team at the ground just as I will be from afar.

That's known confirmed cases, who knows what the actual numbers are... (not me)

Western Sydney is basically a series of different migrant enclaves where english is not the predominant language spoken, a fair chunk probably still don't know anything about it.

Look at the testing numbers differences between Berala and the northern suburbs.

Pros of attending game. Get to watch crappy football and hurl abuse at people paid to be mediocre at football and Carl.

Cons of attending. I could lose my job if I have to quarantine and the company takes a dim view of attending a large gathering during a worldwide pandemic.

When the alternative to that risk is sitting comfy at home with extra money in pocket and cheaper full strength beer within arm's reach. Pretty simple decision. Jets can wait another month once numbers are back down to zero for a period again.

Looks like the Captain is reading the Forum!

I think there are quite a few positives:
- we played ok, in general
- young players played well (considering some mistakes have to be accepted): impressed by Mauragis, Yuel is a threat, and hopefully will get more composure inside the box
- Boogaard somehow managed to put his hands on Robinson (loved that)

Negatives:
- we lost against a pretty ordinary team (is that all you've got, Robbo?)
- Roy... hhhmmmmm
- Kosta
- Uga's head is somewhere else (although he had a decent 2nd half)
- Boogs didn't send Ibini out in a stretcher

The young kid at right back needed to be told we aren’t playing in white. Did he pass it to a team mate once

I said it the other week, Playing this system we have No cover/competition for Hoffman now that Millar has gone.

Antonee Burke was on trial late last year, previously of Jets Youth team and back from the US after a couple of seasons playing for Seattle's B team. Deans publically said he did well in trial vs Macarthur. He could have been playing now given Hoffman is out.

I thought was really good for someone who is naturally a left winger

Apart from running fast and giving the ball away with almost every touch. What did he do really good

We were ok but we lack mongrel and confidence. Last two matches have supposed to have been grudge matches but I haven't seen any toughness or arrogance.
As usual we find some promising youngsters but unlike other clubs we don't bring through one or two that have swagger and start off saying "I'm gonna own this league".
Overall we look timid, even the coach comes across that way. Roy has gone quiet though I think that is a lack of confidence.
Look at Robbo.....he came across as an arrogant **** last night. Our lot were hugging the bloke.

I did enjoy Boogs going through their bloke going for the header. Eyes for the man. Him and Roy are the only ones

Following on, I won't be using Ticketmaster ever again to buy tickets, I just won't go. They only did horizontal distance, no vertical. I had 4 people directly in front of me and another 4 directly behind me. That is 8 people within the safe distance. If they let the members sit where they normally sit it would have been safer.

Have a listen to the Shane Mattiske in the morning. I brought up the ticketing issues from the WSW game with him.

Yeah I noticed my usual seats filled with people all around it and I was moved a few rows back. It was very weird and they have alot to work todo to fix it for next week. Hope they dont cop a fine from the government because what ever they did or were forced to do had no thought of social distance put into it

Yeah, i thought this was annoying too. He could have stated that differently. Instead he comes across as a ......

"I built this team, Newcastle - I know the way they wanted to play so I tried to counteract that," Robinson told FOX Sports post-match.

We set up differently formation-wise to how he had us set up. 1 less defender=1 more attacker

And we only used 2 players to whom he gave debuts - O'Toole and Mauragis

If I remember well, the switch to the 3-5-2 (or 5-3-2) formation happened when Deans was interim coach after Ernie got sacked.
Robbo built on that module (unless he somehow suggested that to Deans before being officially appointed). He did not invent football.

So he should just calm the **** down and just hope there's no more balls rolling towards him next time he plays the Jets, or Boogs might not be that careful next time...
The more I read about "having to think about his family" the more disgusted I become.
The whole group of players (apart from the stressed princess, but she's not even worth mentioning) stuck with the club: he just ran away like a coward, no matter what "explanation" he will come up with.

Ambition? Does a move to WSW show ambition? LOL
