Hot off the twitter sphere:
@ALeague: (1/2) FAN UPDATE | We have listened to your feedback and have given the choice of the team walkout music to Hyundai @ALeague clubs.
@ALeague: (2/2) FAN UPDATE | Meaning your club can decide which track your heroes will walk out to at every home game of the 2012/13 season.

Should get Ricky Martin to do a parody of his hit song Cup of Life and just replace all references to Cup of Life to Toilet Seat. It's got a catchy arse beat / is a football song / excessive use of whistles/ and five thousand uses of the word allez.

All grade A requirements.

NTUA was confirmed as being played prior to the walkout music. Now that walkout music is no more, we hope that NTUA will be restored to its rightful place

Should we not inform the club that we would like this to happen, or just assume that they have someone scoping out the forums? *serious question, no sarcasm intended*

Yay for NTUA. After going to a few Afl games over off season the whole club song thing is amazing there.

Do you reckon we will ever get to the stage that NTUA is played after wins as well?

After the A-League announced this week they are allowing the Clubs to choose their walk-out songs on match day, the Newcastle Jets put a poll on their Facebook to ask what Members and fans wanted to hear.

The overwhelming response was INXS’s Never Tear Us Apart; of the 531 votes, 343 of them were for the former walk out song.

@joshcleary said, “Seriously? A vote? There's only 1 song,” in reference to Never Tear Us Apart while @rawprawn25 said "some parts of Newy Jets heritage should not be changed #ntua".

Before the poll even commenced, @Thompson_MAC said, "Now the A-League clubs are allowed to play their own walk out music, will we now be hearing "never tear us apart" again?”

The Members and supporters have spoken and the Jets will walk out to Never Tear Us Apart this Sunday at Hunter Stadium.

"It is great we can give the Members and supporters an opportunity to choose this week's walk out song and we are sure it will set the stage for a memorable occasion on Sunday," CEO Robbie Middbley said.

In a first at Hunter Stadium, a stage will be set up above the tunnel so the band Sunday's Record will play the song as the team walks out.

Did you know the Jets players have also chosen their own goal scoring song? To find out more

they'd better just play it straight, no warbling, no holding onto notes, no key changes, nothing but the original. last thing we want is it to turn into various renditions of the national anthem.

Hopefully this is not a one time thing for this sunday, I want it to become a tradition at all jets home games.

Hope this band can do a decent job of NTUA, no pressure guys.

Aarron Kearney covered NTUA this morning when interviewing Middleby, saying that is was the "fans anthem" and it has a "mythical connection for the fans and the club" and that it proved to be true during the Tinkler licence dummy spit.

Don't think it went really well having it played as a walk out song. Some were singing NTUA, some were clapping, some were cheering. Seemed to lose the impetus that could be generated from it.

Play it 5 mins before kick off. Then silence from the PA as the teams come out

Get the Funbusters out of retirement if they want a real show.

Plus they were singing Bieber and ****ing One Direction. Did they think they were performing in front of an entire stadium of 10 year old girls?
Needed some pub rock to get Novocastrians in the mood ffs

From Bay 55, I really liked the band, who were right in front of us. NTUA sound and felt really good on our side. I can understand how it would not work for the whole stadium though. Was it coming through the speakers around the ground?

However, I can't believe that they played that song after NTUA until kick-off. Once again killing off any spirit in the crowd.

They don't seem to understand what makes crowd excitement tick, and think that people have to have "entertainment" shoved down their throats until the very last moment. It is seriously turning me into a prawn sandwich eater. If that's what they want then then that is what they will get. Just don't blame the supporters when there is no "atmosphere".

Jetmaster

Agree - to be honest you can't wait for kickoff so that all the advertising, announcements and music coming out of those speakers louder than an AC/DC gig stops. That first minute or two after kickoff is usually such bliss....and you can talk to your mates without yelling.

Haha, fair enough. The music I listen to is mainly dictated to me by my wife and kids so I'll pass your thoughts onto them.

I don't really know what other kind of music you can play to 14,000 people who are all of different ages and backgrounds. I thought a boy band covering a whole heap of girl band pop music was good enough for harmless pre-match entertainment. Certainly don't think any criticism of them is deserved.

Don't think the band worked well in that environment, at least not the NTUA section. Play the actual song over the (probably) very expensive PA FFS. People who can't really sing (me) don't mind belting it out when it's getting sort-of hidden behind a wall of decent sound :-)

Just sing it loud and proud mate. From my experience, noone in the ground can sing it well

The band managed to seamlessly go from "Living on a Prayer" to "Highway to the Danger Zone" mid song. How can that be bad?

Personally, while I didn't like the band (never been a fan of coverbands at all), I thought the concept was fine. Only thing I really would have changed was to have NTUA played over the PA from the original recording.
