Not exactly enamoured with our Facebook supporters who seem a little odd. Most don't know the rules or even the game itself. I have heard of four different buyers in the last 24 hours, including FC32. Shane M is the devil himself. Coasties post commiserations with no response telling them to **** off. People believe this is the best league in the world. The men are a rabble but apparently the girls are "unlucky" to lose 6-0.
The foz isn't much better either, twits everywhere amongst the greater good.
A different, sanitised football world now, one I don't really like.
Hopefully the deal will be done, if not I will be.

So NNSW part is to fully fund the junior jets sides, unlike the broken system we have currently.
All players don't have to pay a cent, this way ensuring the best are picked to become the true breeding ground for football in Newcastle...good onya NNSW...

All I can see happening with that is that NNSWs portion of they charge every Community player in their Rego will go up to cover the cost for little Johnny and friends at the Academy. An extra $10 from every player in NNSW will net them another half a million.

Not sure what I think about this. Deal secured but still feel we have been done over. It's like the owners wanted a deal that was more for their own clubs benefit, not the benefit of Newcastle.
I think they would have rejected NUFC even.Do a deal to make us one of the richer clubs? Not a chance.
As it is this looks like a conservative deal.....we still have a club though.

There’s absolutely no reason we can’t be doing better than CCM.
It’s a sorry state of affairs that we are looking to emulate their approach, but it seems the way forward for clubs not bankrolled with owners happy to donate money to average footballers.
WSW will interesting to watch over the next 5 years if they can convert their youth program success into first grade footballers and beyond. Their facilities, catchment and results to this point are impressive.
CCM have a good track record recently of hiring decent coaches and getting results from their squads with seemingly unknown players, a lot of whom are local.
Again, there’s no reason we can’t replicate this. If our new overlords prefer to tip their money into facilities and youth systems, and invest in the long term, I don’t have a problem with that, so long as it’s transparent and we can monitor the progress.
The comments coming out so far sound a bit miserable though and seem very focussed on “we’re buying, but don’t expect us to be putting together a competitive team” instead of some positively spun “we are committed to developing youth football in the region and establishing solid foundations to build this club into a nursery of future a league players”. I know it’s all PR rubbish at the end of the day, but it hasn’t really instilled me with much hope.

Our situation is nothing like that of CCM. We don't have any of their infrastructure, and they don't have to compete for resources (fans, admin, players, sponsors...you name it] with the Knights like the Jets do.
The Jets don't have anything to attract players other than those not wanted elsewhere, and anyone they can develop or find from obscurity will soon enough be poached away - because all other pastures are greener - even CCM.

Guess we shouldn’t bother then.
I’ll give you sponsors. Sponsors are more likely to wish to sponsor the Knights than the Jets.
But I think everything else is a cop out and can be rectified with stability and improved relationship with the community.
I doubt we are competing for players. Doesn’t NNSW have some of the highest rates of participation for football in Aus?

I fully support the "development" model.
It's the only way to make a medium/small club like the Jets sustainable long term - a transfer fee system would make it even better.
At this stage it should be obvious to everyone that the "rich guy" model doesn't work over here. Been there a few times.
Say what you want about the scum, but they are showing that developing players or discovering them can pay off in the A-league: I mean, they nearly won the whole thing last year and nearly got the premiership plate a few days ago.
(Thank god they didn't actually win anything...)
If we can build on the Taylor, Stynes, Timmins, Wilmering etc, I'm all for it.
And there are plenty of kids playing football in the area, I don't see NRL as a competitor.
Just get rid of Ingham, please.

If there is a transparent, funded, five year, business plan, with KPIs that shows that, then great. You won't convince the FB crowd who will want us to sign Jamie McLaren et al tomorrow and win the premiership next week. But those of us with football nous will accept the former. Scum, Wanderers and the Surfs are bringing through young players.
Re Ingham - I was listening to a podcast yesterday from the UK where Carl Jenkinson was being talked about in glowing terms about his time with West Ham. Payet would feed him, and Jenko more often than not would hit a pinpoint cross from anywhere on the right to find someone running on to it. Conceding age, but how does Ingham find himself in front of a PL right back, and Hoff who was a major part of the 2018 successes in that position?

Jenkinson has had one full, really good season at West Ham, and then 2 other decent to good seasons in his career, ever since he got injured at West Ham he's been terrible and gets worse every year.
He got his dream move early on in his career, and had a pretty decent career in total given his ability, so hats off to him, but he needs to find something other than playing football if he wants to get paid next season. Not sure if he's management material, but he might have enough experience to assist someone at a lower level of management, could probably make a half decent living that way.

Even if these people aren’t willing to shell out huge amounts of cash, it’ll just be nice to know we aren’t in control of other clubs and to have this whole chapter of our clubs history officially finished.
I noticed this version of the herald article still includes that they want to keep on key people like Stanton, but omitted Shane who was previously included. May be nothing but my hope is that something has changed and it means he’s on the outs.

Perhaps there has been a realization that if they wish to sell the concept of a part form of community ownership it will take an individual who has demonstrated the ability to engage and communicate with those you wish to include. Just say'n.

Lotta good stuff in here. Feel like Peacock hit it on the head the most but. There are some things at present that are ****ed and are a good two years at best away from being fixed, but the one thing in our control is good football.
People have said it on here before, but people wanna see young, local players get on the pitch who play for the shirt. People are sick of those players that have already been in 5 teams and who have never shown themselves to be at the level required to possibly break into a better league.
Slater also smashed it regarding foreign players, we don’t need nobodies in this league. Give us either big names who can put butts in seats even if it’s only in a short term sugar hit kinda way or give us people like Penha who are actually great and can genuinely elevate the quality of the game.

They still haven't given a final figure 380 and that's because they know they don't have any money but the 1 to 1.4 mill is the range being mentioned. The APL haven't met the benchmarks for just about everything with Para so I wouldn't be surprised if the lower end of the range is more accurate. At the end of the day he had a couple of good games a few years ago. Honestly I'm not sure who would be interested in signing him.
He'd be a loss in terms of losing a local player, but in pure football terms I don't think he'd be much of a loss. I do hope he stays though.
He's a slow boil IMO, he will get there and be a very handy player. I liken him to Gus and would like to see him stay for a considerable time and grow into his body and the role of leading the line week in week out.
The unfortunate thing is with kids like him is they get told they are world beaters in the present by self interested people and start making wrong moves and bad choices.

COACH Rob Stanton hopes to lock down a player budget and get an understanding of the vision that the new owners of the Newcastle Jets have for the club at a meeting in Melbourne this week.
A consortium of Melbourne and Sydney businessmen have completed the purchase of the Jets.
The transfer of the A-League license is subject to approval from Football Australia (FA), a process which could take up to three weeks.
However, Stanton is in contract talks with a number of players and is keen to get his squad in place for next season.
The Jets coach is in Melbourne this week, where he is assisting with the A-League All-Stars ahead of their clash with English Premier League club Newcastle United at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
"The plan is to get together with one or two of the owners in Melbourne this week to get a bit of clarity," Stanton said. "There are a few things I need to get done.
"I need to have some conversations with the owners to see what their ideas are and what they want to do. I want to be told this is what you can do and then I can get on with it. If I can't get cracking on it, when we rock up to start preseason, we will be behind. That is what happened last season. We should be starting in a better position, not going backwards."
Stanton said confirmation of the new owners was comfort to the players and staff.
"That is something that is good for the fans as well," he said. "There are a lot of really passionate people who have followed the club for many years. They will be relieved."
The Jets have 10 players contracted for next season, including recruit Aleks Susnjar.
Kosta Grozos, Callum Timmins, Archie Goodwin, Lachy Bayliss and Phil Cancar have been offered extensions.
"There are five or six players to get done," Stanton said. "A couple have contracts in front of them but haven't signed."
Grozos, Timmins, Bayliss and Cancar are expected to put pen to paper.
Goodwin, 19, has received interest from other A-League clubs and told the Newcastle Herald last week he was "weighing up" his options.
"I had a chat with Archie this week," Stanton said. "He is up in the air. That is for him to decide. If he doesn't want to stay and wants to challenge himself somewhere else, that is something I have to accept."
There is strong speculation that the annual financial grants that clubs receive from the Australian Professional Leagues will be slashed.
The central distribution, which is largely sourced from the broadcast deal, was cut to $2 million this season. There is a fear that it could be as low as $500,000 for 2024-25.
The distributions were discussed at an A-League meeting earlier this month but a final decision was reserved until after this Saturday's grand final.
The salary cap is expected to remain at $2.6 million, with a minimum spend of $2.125 million.
"We are in the bottom four in terms of budget," Stanton said. "Those are conversations I need to have to get clarity.
"We are still going to be a very young team."
"We might even be younger. Some of the players I want to bring in are younger than the ones who have departed. There are a couple of senior ones I'm hoping to add to give us more leadership on and off the pitch.
"The league might look a bit different next season. I think clubs will look more to youth. We have done that this season with our squad. We probably have a good advantage there in a sense we had less senior players and had to develop people."
Jets player of the year Apostolos Stamatelopoulos is in camp with the All-Stars and remains central to Stanton's plans.
Stamatelopoulos, who scored a club record 17 goals, received interest from two English Championship clubs earlier in the year but Stanton said there had not been an offer for the striker.
"I have not heard anything," Stanton said. "If something happens, great. If not, he will play out the season for us."
Jets players are on holidays and will assemble for preseason training on June 24.
"We have an Australian Cup qualifier to prepare for," Stanton said. "It won't be our full squad. The majority of the players will be from the A-League squad, but I foresee a sprinkling from the NPL team. I think it is too early for such a competitive game. I am more focused on building what the team will look like for next season."

Interesting stuff in there, obviously with the Perth Glory Korda disaster that happened prior I’m really not gonna believe we have new owners fully until money starts being spent
I’m pro getting in some more young players (whole league is probably gonna tilt in that direction anyway as he mentions) with some experienced heads across all areas of the park. Seems interesting to me we’re offering Cancar a contract, dude is too good to sign on to a season sitting on the bench which leads me to believe we plan on doing a 3 at the back set up with wing backs and the two strikers.
From the returns to the clubs under the last of the Fox deals to the declines under the APL and in particular the 2mill to the now estimated 0.5mill for the upcoming season under Paramount it is quite apparent an audit and investigation should be brought upon the APL and individuals at senior levels. Its certainly needs to be established if incompetence has led us here to this point or more over an even worse scenario.
I can honestly say some of the organizations i have worked for throughout my life if similar outcomes happened then in the first instant the magnifying glass would be run over every decision maker as to whether every individual has been performing there role in a responsible manner if you get where i am going.
I not sure just what the Federal Minister for Sport n Rec can do in this situation in regards to establishing an inquiry into the APL or not, I think that would require a look at financial statements to see if the Federal Govt hands grants to the APL in which case there may be conditions attached to those grants in regards to accountability and best financial practices.
Just for my own curiosity i might shoot off an email to my local Fed MP and the Hon Anika Wells MP to pose that question.

Or there's still interest in Natta and we're signing Susnjar as his replacement, with GRimaldi as the backup
A consortium of Melbourne and Sydney businessmen have completed the purchase of the Jets.
Strangely we are currently owned by a club consortium from Sydney and Melbourne.
Could these people be the same? It's all shady. Have these guys found a better way to do this by themselves away from clubland?

Club consortium ?.
I just read that as a group of individuals where some reside in Melb and some in Sydney.
I can recall just recently it was mentioned one individual was heavily involved in the early days of the Western United bid but walked away citing issues around land developments where the WU home ground was to be built. This individual ( can't recall name ) also had an interest in a championship club.

So everyone probably saw on facebook the snippet of the ASIC Change of Company Details to Maverick Sports Partners (if you didn't look at the Newcastle Jets Supporters group post from a few weeks ago).
I thought from there it done and was expecting an announcement. Nothing thus far and I am a little surprised. Something has to be holding it up....just a matter of who. Could be the APL, could be one of the new owners (assuming multiple given "Partners" in ownership name)
We have a committee meeting next week. I will share the update we are asking for after that. We know nothing more than anyone else unfortunately.

Not entirely convinced yet being ex ATO and all that. The "receipt' shown on Facebook (since removed) was dated "at the earliest" 10/05/2024 on a Form 484.
I just looked at the ASIC site and note that changes via 484 were made on 10/02/2024 (this was for a cessation of a company director greater than 28 days - probably one of the previous owners stepping aside).
The only other lodgment was on 23/05/2024 (only a week ago) via a 484 regarding change in shareholding. This could be an adjustment to previous but nothing appears lodged on 10/05/2024. More likely is that it was lodged but not processed and finalised until last week. If so, the ATO has already delayed an announcement by two weeks.
Now I could get the full details but I can't be arsed spending the $19 !
Here's the link if anyone does...:whistling:

That sale was for the club only, not the license. That's a separate sale and obviously hasn't gone through yet for whatever reason.

Seems reasonably well spoken, and they're really pushing the community engagement/sustainability which in theory makes sense IF we get the support outside the rusted on 5-6k.
Anyone figure any owner names out from the business he dropped at the end? Spartan, Tough Mudder and Deka? The owner of Spartan is some yank named Joe De Sena, so surely not him as he specifically mentions Sydney and Melbourne. Some guy called Russell Nelms is CEO/MD of those brands in the sydney region so could be him?

Also, Conroy got involved, things got done. I'm telling ya, the bloke is a head kicker and will get it going. People aren't gonna like him, and we usually get all offended when blokes like him are involved and freeze him out so no doubt we'll all shoot ourselves in the foot again.
Might end up with a sponsor though, and good rates on legals when it all goes up in smoke again.

I would think he has some KPI's that are absolutely non negotiable's. If the last 3 years have taught us anything Shane is not the person to be the face of the club off the field from the administrative side of the club. He's never looked comfortable dealing with the average punter when he has " had " to. I still remember the day he was walking over to the Eastern side of the ground at the Southern end and a few in the crowd called out to say g'day and he done what appeared to be his best to make out he could not hear them. I could be mistaken but unless he is tone deaf in the right ear then i am putting money on he heard them.
Anyway we now have overlords who have a different challenge for Shane from the last 3 years where he claimed his role was to get the club in a salable state to one now of leading the club to better times on and off the pitch. Be interesting too see how he manages the new job description.
Just my thoughts.
