Staff has been there a long time in some capacity. He has served the club well. They know what they are getting with him, the strengths, the weaknesses. I doubt there’s been any surprises.

You heard wrong. He stated that the JDL and PYL couldn't use the grounds and then changed it to only be for a week.
Blacksmiths is hardly cancelled due to rain, maybe if there was a king tide coinciding with rain then there would be puddles.

If I were in the club I would be worried about the culture developed/developing. Importing Coasties at high costs who can leave easily doesn't seem sustainable to me. Good luck to the club on figuring out what they need to address.

Entertaining game last night Thornton v Westy at LMFF finished 1-1 and both teams had good chances, Westy are a dangerous team but very predictable if they could get the ‘shit’ out of their game & culture could do better, just comments and behaviour from coaches and players is poor and they argue why they don’t get referee decisions!! C’mon have a look at yourself!. Thornton are real challengers for 2nd spot , keep impressing with Fijian players up top causing issues and some good young players developing each week- if they can get through the catch up games with a good share of points will stay up at the pointy end.

Damon Green was too good for Thornton defence & caused lots of issues-Stags be very hard to beat if keep key players on pitch . Thornton hit a road bump-dropping points and not getting any easier, but they a decent side and if can get a win or two soon will stay in contention. Watched every team

Played well, Drew Olsen stepped up and made 3-4 outstanding saves to keep Stags in it, gave away a questionable pen leaving Staff stunned and laughing. Olsen stepped up and saved it in the 93rd minute. Massive result for Toronto.

As for Belswans not being over the line they are 18 points clear, no one is catching them even though they are 3 games ahead. They?ve grinded results and have been the best team all year. They deserve to be where they are and they are well and truly home

Should a team without Premier Youth League teams finish in one of the play-off spots, they will not contend the play-offs
and the remaining play-off teams will move up their position within the play-off.
So teams must have all youth to go up.

Northern says teams have one year grace which is why Charlestown was allowed to stay up last year.

If Adamstown don't get all youth teams and stay up, then Northern will need to either follow their own rules and relegate them pushing up the team who came in second in the play-off final or do what they normally do and ignore their rules and come up with an excuse as to why they won't drop them

I was at Kahibah on Saturday. What is Wallsend?s plan for next season to improve. They would struggle in ZL2 I think Croatia, Stockton, Croudace Bay would all beat them. They aren?t competitive and are a long way from it.
There was talk they have asked to go down to reset. Any truth to that?

KAHIBAH coach Mat Moncrieff has challenged the interpretation of referee abuse under Northern NSW Football?s zero tolerance policy after striker Riley Ferguson copped a six-match ban.
Ferguson was sent off late in the 2-0 loss to Toronto-Awaba on Sunday in the NPL promotion-relegation play-off semi-final at Peacock Field after yelling ?you?re f?ing kidding? when not getting a free kick. On Tuesday he copped the minimum six-match ban under ?R8 ? offences against match officials? for ?using offensive language and/or gestures?.
The zero tolerance policy, carrying bigger sanction for offenders and their clubs, was brought in this year to curb referee abuse.

While not defending Ferguson?s action, Moncrieff said the outburst should be classed as dissent, not abuse. The sanction is in line with similar incidents this year.
?I don?t agree that that?s abuse,? Moncrieff said.

Had a West Wallsend recently post on facebook about how the ref was a cheat and going off about him. That's arguably worse then saying the refs don't understand what Northern's rules are, and Northern let it go, maybe because had they applied a 6 point deduction then Singleton would be in the playoff and Northern had already organised the playoffs.

Im not here to judge but as the dad of a referee maybe I can explain some of the thinking.Abuse towards the ref(which includes swearing) is a straight red.Questioning their integrity,right down to 'youre favouring them over us' is a straight red.Any use of the 'F' word (or similar) is a yellow.My son pretty much turns a blind eye to the general swearing on the pitch as its not ever a big deal but himself got carded this year for saying the F word celebrating a goal (awful rule I think).But when assessors are around if you dont ping people for abuse/dissent they get marked down and refs feel like they get demoted games so are a bit stuck.The example Foreverred posted seems very harsh,and if he got a straight red for that then Im surprised (were the quotes in that post verbatim from the report of heresay?).If it was a 2nd yellow then its pretty straight forward but if they were the only words said and he got a straight red then I feel thats harsh.Im think the kahibah coachs son is a NNSW ref as well so he would know the details of the rules.Going forward I would like to see the rules relaxed for players swearing in general play and a bit more common sense administered by the referees.But I absolutely think the harshest penalties need to still be dished up to coaches as they have no right to get as agro as they do.If coaches calm down its amazing how well behaved the players become and makes everyones match easier.

Thanks for posting that.I can see the ref considering that abuse and showing the red but its a harsh red in my book.Makes it hard when last year it was most likely play on and a warning on the run.But the refs have been instructed to be tough but again,I think its a harsh call on the player.Not sure why he didnt give the yellow and hope that it calmed the player down.For what its worth I thought it was a good tackle.

Agreed. It's hard to give NNSW credit sometimes but bringing in promotion/relegation and making it part of a Final series created a big buzz.

I thought it was good that NL1 first place went straight up, and that NPL 2nd last went into a finals series with NL1. It tests teams in a way that is different to the usual and I thought it was great. Buds only won 2 games all year before heading into these finals, and I'm sure a lot of good lessons were learned in this finals series which can only be a good thing for them and the comps in general.

Things I personally would want changed for next season are don't give the winner of the day medals, because earning/retaining NPL is a trophy enough itself.. and make the NL1 Reserve Grade finals format the same as First Grade - either 1v4, 2v3 two-legs.. or the old 1v2, 3v4, winner gets a rest etc - I don't hugely mind which one, but I didn't like having the two grades playing two different formats. It made no sense why First Grade was 2-legged but RG wasn't. These are only small changes, but credit where its due I think NNSW have nearly nailed it otherwise.

Agree, watching the presentaion, it just felt odd. I think even the players themselves felt a bit awkward, and the Tornoto boys where just left on the field to do nothing more than just watch.

How far into planning pre season fixtures are everyone?

I've had Northbridge FC's coach reach out to schedule a trip north on Feb 22nd to play both their grades. In 2024 Northbridge won the grand final of the Northern Suburbs Football Association Premier League, (ressies lost theIr GF after being minor premiers), won the NSFA Cup and went deep into the Australia Cup, knocking out NPL teams on the way.
