Was shocked and stunned when I checked this out.

A League Twitter Follower Numbers
1: Sydney FC - 15.7K followers
2; Melb Vic - 13.9K
3; Bris Roar - 9782
4; Melb Heart - 8724
5; Wel Nix - 6687
6; Perth Glory - 6140
7; Adelaids - 5850
8; Wheres Wallys - 5483
9; Scum - 4329
10 Jets - 3590

WTF second largest membership in the league and dead last in twitter followers. Don't our members have fecken phones?

This shite needs to be corrected to put us at least in the top 3 or best we need another 739 followers.

Get the fecken message (or in this case tweets) out there.

Who gives a **** about Twitter??? Much Rather be proud of having the most fans per capita in the country and the second highest Membership behind the Tards than our ranking on a use of a wanky thing like Twitter

How many people around here actually use twitter though? I do, but I don't know too many others that use it.

How do we rate in facebook followers?

Isn't this a good thing?

Shows how piss poor the supposed fans of the other clubs are, highlights how sick Newy is, Aussie battler etc.

I think twitter has a long way to go before it works out where it belongs in people's lives. Some companies use it to great effect. Most of it is mindless dribble though and a lot of people can't be assed going through it.

Plus if the club wanted to be awesome at twitter they can just go buy a bunch of followers.

Twitter! really? I don't tweet, for I am not a bird.

Twitter is for ADD kids, hipsters and those who can't keep a single thought to themselves.

twitter is for people who want to experience the awesomeness that is robbie savage, mario balotelli, joey barton, etc.

it's the gift that forever gives.

Twitter can be a great way to get your message direct to the public without it going through a middle man where it can be distorted (HSG vs Herald etc).
Done the right way it's no different to sending out a massive group text to members (provided they have something interesting to say/offer etc).
No one really wants to know what you're eating for breakfast though.

Can't believe you forgont NotEmileHeskey. Hugely followed parody account in England that is now getting the Jets a fair bit of coverage to those fans. Even better he has now scored a goal.

Had the same thoughts and comments as all the above until I gave it a go. And yeah your right there is a lot of dribble coming from some people on twitter so "dont follow"

I have 3 lists, Football, News & Photography becasue those are the things I'm interested but who gives a ****.

as for following football (or news) if its happening, its on twitter as its happening but as i said who gives a ****. And besides I like to hear other peoples thoughts on football outside this forum. You'd be surprised what else is out there.

as for the reason for the thread if for anthying else I cant handle being last at anything especialy being beat by bunch of nobs that cant even fill a bus.

I get on twitter every now and then (probs daily lul), mainly used for football, nerdy stuff (web dev etc) and pop culture (movies etc).

Handy for following events live (eg pre-season games, thanks newyboys) and people sharing interesting links etc.

Twitter is for smartphone using homeboyz....note the population differences.

Newy boys don't need phones - I don't even own a smartphone.

Two tins and a string is fine for me.

I hear what ya saying however the principal remains we should not allow scum to beat us at anything #newypride. So I will contact @NewcastleJetsFC and have them buy, say another 2000 to 3000 followers (cost around a couple of hundred bucks) problem solved.

Another tact is we could try to get all of Bridgys followers (8037) and Ryan's followers (1661) to follow the Jets twitter account, problem solved with real football fans easy.

unless of course Bridgey has paid for his followers?
Maybe aim higher, get Lady Gaga or Barack Obama to give the Jets a RT and try and pick up a few that way.
Rumour has it Obama was super impressed with Goodwin's start to the season.
